Jade Mountain in Soufriere, Saint Lucia

At Jade Mountain, owner Nick Troubetzkoy’s spacious, open-air sanctuaries sit high atop cliffs with the island’s only view of both the Piti & Gros Pitons. These coral-tiled spaces, accented in locally quarried stone, feature 20 different species of tropical hardwood flooring hand-picked from the rain forest of Guyana. Luxurious spa treatments from the resort’s boutique spa Kai en Ciel (House In Heaven) utilize 5,000-year-old Indian Ayurvedic traditions. The Jade Mountain Club Restaurant wraps around a colorful infinity pool and dishes up the creations of award-winning chef Allen Susser. Produce, fruit, and cocoa beans are manufactured on the resort’s organic Emerald Estate farm, an old 18th century sugarcane plantation. With over 1,000 cocoa trees, the resort offers in-house chocolate manufacturing, allowing guests to sample chef creations, sip on chocolate-infused cocktails, and even try their hand at creating their own chocolate delicacy.

Dive into the inviting green waters of the Caribbean and snorkel alongside pristine coral reefs. Cruise out on the ocean aboard the resort’s yacht or 60 foot catamaran. Indulge in the chocolate laboratory and create your own decadent truffles. Feast on the refreshing and organic mango & papaya creations of Allen Susser from your private enclave on Anse Mamin beach. Unwind with a romantic Alchemy Of Two spa treatment before soaking in your private infinity pool.

My boyfriend and I celebrated our one year anniversary in the Star Sanctuary back in September 2014. I was researching places to stay in St. Lucia and when Jade Mountain came up, it was unforgettable and no other place could compare. I knew I had to make the plunge with my wallet. One of my friends was appalled at me, saying a night's stay is someone's rent, but stop judging me, fam. It is a one of a kind $$$$$ resort and it is not for everybody. There were a few things that made it a little less than perfect, but this place deserves my 5 stars. They offer helicopter rides to Jade but we opted for the car pick-up. It was bumpy but, I thought it was a fun ride. If you have motion sickness, it is not for you. The driver offered to stop by some shops on the way to pick up snacks but we declined--I kind of regretted not stopping by. We were greeted at Jade with a refreshing drink and properly checked in with our domo. He explained everything to us and showed us how to use the phone that came with the room. We had to take out and put in the battery every time we used the phone which was a minor inconvenience. We had an included breakfast package and opted not to do the all inclusive package. We dined at a different restaurant at each meal and I think we made the correct decision as we saved money this way. We were comp'ed two bottles of wine/champagne and we brought a bottle of whiskey and that was plenty of alcohol for the two of us for our 4 day stay. You should definitely stay in a sanctuary with the infinity pool, just splurge and go for it. I saw pictures of the Sky Sanctuary and it didn't look too impressive, so I went for the Star. People have complained about the pool temperature, but I think it was room temperature and it was always refreshing. We were always chauffeured to Anse Chastanet (steep walk lol), and we went to the black sand beaches everyday. We utilized the kayaks provided to row to the beach on the other side where there is a fantastic burger joint. I definitely recommend getting burgers and fries here! Other than laying/swimming at the beaches, we went on a snorkeling tour with our guide who was super friendly. It was great coming back to the mid-day bento boxes waiting for you in your room from your day at the beach. We tried to spend a good amount of time in our room to enjoy the pool and the views. The open concept was very interesting to say the least. The bed had mosquito covers but we always ended up with bites every night. The echos of the animals (frogs?)/bugs are ubiquitous throughout Jade Mountain and it does get loud at night so I did have a bit of trouble going to sleep. Some days we had breakfast in our room and if you leave the food unattended for 5 minutes, birds find their way to fight for the remains. Because of the open layout, you can hear your significant other doing his business in the bathroom, but it's all good. We ended our stay with an included couples massage, which was fine. I cannot complain about a free massage. The staff at Jade Mountain were very helpful and provided for our every need. They are fantastic.

My wife and I just returned from a week at Jade Mountain and it was wonderful! Since we are both enjoy scuba diving, we really enjoyed the scuba facility at Anst Chastanet - which is their sister resort at the beach level. The staff was very friendly and attentive to our needs. The diving there is excellent and relatively easy. The food in all restaurants of the resort was very good, but do get the all inclusive due to costs. There are no easily accessible outside restaurants to get to. Our dive master speared some Lion fish and after he knew we loved to eat them made arrangements to have some delivered to the restaurant for us to have for dinner. Do get the standing fans because it did get a little hot and sticky at night. No bug problem because they spray and put out burning repellants. All and all I would rate this property up there with anything I've ever seen or stayed out. It is truly a architectural wonder.

We recently came here for our honeymoon and it surpassed our expectations in every way. The room was gorgeous and well equipped with everything you could need although it could get warm at night but they did find a stand up fan which helped with this. Every member of staff was fantastic and couldn't do more to help us and they were always reachable and food was delicious. The hotel is in a beautiful location above Anse Chastenet Beach, it is a quiet secluded spot so it is quite a drive from the airport and the roads are a bit of a pain so we found it easier to just stay at the hotel. You can get a shuttle up and down to the beach or you can get your workout for the day climbing the steps. The spa offered a range of treatments and it was great that you could have them in your room. I highly recommend a visit to this hotel!

I wanted to take the time to write a special review to express how magical our vacation stay at Jade Mountain was which is why we titled this review “Paradise”. My fiancé and I have traveled quite a bit and stayed at many luxury hotels, but Jade Mountain by far is one of our top hotel experiences and one of the classiest hotels imaginable. Everything was top notch—rooms were beyond spectacular, views were incredible, restaurants and staff are superb. Aside from having the most spectacular views of the Pitons and the beautiful ocean, what made this even more special were the people and the staff at Jade Mountain. The Entire Staff was Outstanding and welcomed us from the moment we got off the helicopter to the moment we said farewell. They provided exceptional service of which truly exceeded our expectations and because of this it really made us feel extremely special as we celebrated our engagement. Day 1 of our stay we had the privilege of meeting Mrs. Karolin Troubetzkoy which was a pleasant surprise to both of us. She was extremely warm and welcoming to us both. Our butlers Keironne and Teddy were so kind, caring, & took "Every Moment" of their time to ensure we were Happy!! Compliments to the Chef as the food was AMAZING!! We noticed all the awards the resort has received and if there were such a thing as a traveler’s choice award for “Exceptional Service” we certainly would present to all at Jade Mountain Thank you all at Jade Mountain for giving us a taste of Paradise. Sincerely, Javier & Beth

This may be the finest Caribbean resort we have stayed at to date. The views are nothing short of epic. The food and drink are exemplary. The locals are as kind as you could ever ask for. We absolutely adored Jade Mountain and will certainly return.
