About the Hotel

There is no fourth wall in villas at Ladera – instead, there is the jaw-dropping backdrop of the Pitons, two mountainous volcanic spires that attract adventure-seekers from across the world. A faint tropical breeze wafts from the Caribbean Sea far below through netting on a four-poster bed carved from polished tropical hardwood. Incentive to leave your room can be found in chef Nigel Mitchel's creative interpretation of traditional island fare – try the roast conch served with organic vegetables from the neighboring plantation.

Beauty and the Beast

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

The views from Ladera are amazing. The staff at Ladera are amazing. They catered to us in every way possible. I spent most days in the pool enjoying the views of the Pitons. HOWEVER, it was the nights. I've never been camping, not fond of bugs but I assumed I could manage it for a few nights... but they were front, right, and center; I underestimated what I was signing up for. I have more bug bites than I'm able to count... and this is with me killing the lights, being behind the netting, when not in the pool, and having the citronella candles lit. I wore bug spray, but the bugs prevailed. While I love Ladera, I'll likely never return (home now and still welting from some bites), but I'm glad that I got to experience its glory.

Room with a view and a pool!

And what a view ..situated high on the mountains with breathtaking view of both the Pitons, Ladera is a wonderful experience with friendly staff who go out of their way to make you comfortable. The open air rooms do tend to get hot in the afternoons but the private plunge pool is right there to cool you off. The food is nothing to write home about but we ate at other restaurants. Dinner has live music everyday. There is a nice trail right in the property . The only suggestion to the property would be to run more shuttles to the beach but other than that wouldn’t change a single thing. A five star experience through and through

Ladera delivered on all our expectations

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We spent 3 nights at Ladera after splitting our trip with another hotel. I honestly feel like we should have extended our stay here because there was not enough time to do all the things we wanted to. We did the volcano tour with the mudbaths and visit to the gardens and waterfall, we hiked the Gros Piton, and walked across the street to eat the chocolate hotel, as well as make our own chocolate bars on the tour. We did not get a chance to go down to the beach or try yoga, or hike the nature trails, which I would have liked to do. This is a mountainous island, with a rainforest, and especially true at Ladera. There are a lot of hills and a lot of stairs everywhere so if you have mobility issues, this probably isn't the right place for you, or at least check with the hotel first to see if it meets your needs. Rooms: First of all, the views from the rooms are AMAZING. We stayed in a heritage suite with a surprisingly large pool and had two lounge chairs. You cannot beat the in room pool with the Pitons in the background. The upper level had the bedroom and bathroom, which were open as well. The open rooms were a first for us and we honestly loved it. Waking up to the views of the mountains, the sea, along with the breezes and gentle sounds of our pool fountain. The birds can be a little noisy in the morning but I didn't find it a problem and had no trouble sleeping. The upper level of our suite can get quite hot in the late afternoon and with no AC it can be a bit of a challenge to not sweat to death while readying for dinner. It cools off considerably after dinner so there was no issue with sleeping. Yes, you will be visited by some critters at times, and definitely be sure to keep food wrapped or put away--we were only in the room 15 minutes when a bird found a banana we left on the table and went to town on it.... lesson learned. It's a tropical island and the rooms are open so you have to expect some nature to come in. You can cut down on the bugs by keeping the lights off or at least a minimum at night. Staff: The staff could not be more kind or helpful, everyone we met was great, from the concierge to the ladies at the front desk, Chef Nigel, the servers in the restaurant, the butlers, literally everyone we came into contact with. and I'm sorry that I can't remember everyone's names. We did a wine and cheese tasting with Linus and he was informative and fun. Food: the food was overall very good. Breakfast is plentiful, we had dinner at Dasheene twice and enjoyed our meals. My husband loved the Piton burger for lunch, I think he ate it all 3 days. Ambiance: this hotel is sophisticated and quiet, definitely less raucous than the other resort we stayed in on the north of the island. The complimentary airport transfers were in private cars which was great as well. It's about 45 minutes or so from the hotel to the airport. Overall: I agree with another commenter that the hotel balances the rustic feel of the rooms with the excellent service and the jaw dropping views to make a unique experience. We would definitely stay here again if we are lucky enough to revisit St Lucia.

Spectacular place

Ladera is a very special place! From the minute we arrived and met Schol, who took care of our bags and anything else we needed to meeting Chef Nigel and being treated like royalty at our anniversary dinner, we knew we had chosen the perfect place to celebrate our 20th anniversary. Ray keeps the gardens beautiful and is passionate about his work. We loved having a pool in our room, and the hot tubs were the most beautiful we’ve ever seen. It was a nice touch to meet Christian, the GM, who made sure to meet us when checking out to be sure our stay went well. We drove over 300 miles in our rental car in one week, but never saw a view as beautiful as the one we woke up to each morning at Ladera.

Incredible views- but not a 5 star hotel at least our room

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Mixed feelings for us- the views are incredible , the food was good- but the rooms were very dated and not 5 star very disappointing. We never realized our room would have steps going up to bedroom - they were steep and not much light it was a bit dangerous for my older legs especially when needing the bathroom in the night. The bathroom was a hot mess- it was a open shower no curtain or privacy - the shower had nowhere but the floor to put shampoos etc, no shelves / grab bars or anything very slippery - the light in bathroom was a dull yellow making it very difficult to see anything, the bathroom door was a swing door and was very noisy and at night kept blowing open and closed slamming. The tea/coffee set up was very difficult to use It was very rustic - we would not go back here, certainly not the highlight of our trip like we had expected. The grounds are lovely and they have a few hikes around and a treehouse which was cool.

My boyfriend and I spent a week at Ladera Resort in St. Lucia, West Indies, this past October. It is a beautiful resort with incredibly attentive and friendly staff. I would like to specifically mention Chef Orlando Satchell. He made an already special stay at Ladera even more wonderful. The room we stayed in was utterly incredible. The view of the ocean flanked by the Pitons, with the moon casting a path on the sea below was magic. It was an incredibly romantic, relaxing vacation which neither one of us wanted to end.
