Amazing staff, excellent location, dream holidays in the best resort with unbelievable waters. My wife and I stayed at over-water pool Villa and it was great; Kadir our host was very supportive all time helping with activities, reservations and any kind of recommendation. Absolutely unforgettable moments and holidays; we want to come back with the family.

Lovely ANANTARA DHIGU MALDIVES

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

I'm writing this review right from the plane. Rested, returning home with my family, full of impressions and emotions. It was our second vacation in the Maldives and after the first visit in 2017 we didn't even have questions about what hotel to stay, we wanted to go here - to Anantara Dhigu Maldives. So, 7 years after the first visit to this hotel, I want to tell travel lovers why we came back, and what kind of Anantara is today, in May 2024 To begin with, I need to say that it's hard for me to judge whether it's a good hotel on Maldives or not, because we have nothing to compare with. This is the only hotel on Maldives we've been to. But, looking through info about other hotels, with plus minus the same price level, I realized for myself that the most beautiful landscapes, the most incredible turquoise-white pictures I see at Anantara. Plus, taking into account the old memory of such advantages of the hotel as - the attitude of the staff, the quality of food, the size of the room, cleanliness everywhere and everywhere, the ability to combine rest on 3 islands (DHIGU, VELI, GULIFUSHI), a good home reef, not so many people on island, we decided to stop the search and not to risk, so as not to spoil the impression of those Maldives, which we remembered them after our first visit, which was super magical… And another important point. On our first visit, my husband and I were together without kids and lived at a water villa on the sunrise side. The second time we flew with our daughter and chose to live in a villa on the sand on the sunset side. As it turned out, these are different types of recreation. In my opinion, for a holiday WITHOUT children, it is better to take a villa on the water, and with children only a villa on the sand With a swimming pool (if the child is over 5 years old and can swim). If the child is younger than 4-5 years old, the pool on villa (possibly) will be dangerous. Anantara met us wonderfully! As is customary on Maldives - with songs, applause and coconuts). The color of the water in the lagoon has not changed, which was the most important thing for me. These crazy beautiful, unreal colors are still the same) The feeling that you are on another Planet. An incredibly pleasant surprise from the hotel was providing us with a superior room - with a swimming pool. Initially, I thought that we would not need a swimming pool, as it is more healthy to swim in the ocean))) and if you want a swimming pool, you can go to the AQUA bar for a large pool. I was wrong) My own pool (approximate size 6x3 meters) turned out to be very necessary. It's a fairy tale, pleasure and a super bonus to rest. The pool in the villa is 100% worth the money. As for nutrition, we are so-so eaters. We don't care about food, if I may say so. Not in terms of quality, but in terms of quantity) Based on this, we definitely chose HB (breakfast + dinner), absolutely understanding that we will have to pay for all drinks (including water). The same with lunch - when we wanted to - we ate, paying for lunch. For 12 days of rest, we never ate lunch, because we’re not hungry))) because for breakfast and dinner the hotel provided soooo much delicious food. As for children - up to 12 years old they eat for FREE at lunch in the Aqua bar (choosing from free very good children's menu) and in Fushi cafe (children's corner with nuggets, fries, vegetables). Drinking Water: the rooms always have plenty of drinking water in the glass, at the Aqua bar, where a large swimming pool during the day (before dinner) is freely available - water coolers (free of charge). By the way, all drinks are also free for breakfast, even if you have HB, but at dinner you will have to pay for water. Children's club - children under 6-7 years old will be ok here. It is small, uninteresting, but there work beautiful, kind, child-loving girls, who conduct good master classes: my daughter painted T-shirts, weaved bracelets, chains, made various crafts, baked pizza. She went there for 1-2 hours a day - she liked it. The size of the island is so conveniently small that children from about 6 years old go to the children's club on their own and return to the room. And yes, bicycles! It's very convenient - both for children and adults, there are bikes attached to each villa. Teenagers have absolutely nothing to do in this hotel) If you are going with 11-16 year old olds, feel free to choose another hotel. Except for table tennis, a boxing ring and a small gym, volleyball and tennis place, there is nothing for them. Food. I'll tell you right away - initially it seemed to us that the food used to be earlier more diverse. But it was wrong. It's just that now the hotel has slightly changed the concept and the food is served according to the type of menu. In Fushi cafe, where food is served according to the buffet system, for breakfasts and dinners you need to go to the chefs and order what you want, based on the menu of the day. The waiter accepts the order, writes down the table number and brings it to you when it's ready. You can order any smoothies, porridge, waffles, omelets, Benedict, bowls, grill - whatever you want. The food is veeeery delicious! If you are a meat lover, you can arrange a special order in advance, through the reception, and you will be prepared whatever you want. My husband ordered an Australian marble beef steak for dinner. They prepared it for him. They didn't charged for it. Restaurants: ORIGAMI we liked it very much, ordered teppanyaki. Thai restaurant BAAN HURAA near the island of Nalady - we liked it very much, the restaurant Cumin - delicious Lamb and prowns in coconut sauce. The hotel staff: all without exception are very sincere, friendly, smiling, always ready to help! There's nothing to complain about here. I would especially like to note the professional work of the following employees: Zahid - a young man who settled us in the room and accompanied us on any questions throughout our rest, Hamsi - a young man who cleaned up our room 2 times a day (in the morning and in the evening) Girls from the reception (sorry I do not remember their names), Girls from the children's club and a men Jocker - a young man who helps guests with animation. Incredible chefs and waiters in restaurants - WE THANK YOU EVERYONE! A very well-coordinated team of professionals. And now about the disadvantages that did not overshadow our vacation at all, but which tourists and the hotel itself should know about: 1. The hotel needs renovation. The rooms are good, spacious, but nevertheless, I think, a little lose to the rooms in more modern hotels. Aquabar, swimming pools, mattresses on sunbeds, pantones, spa - everything needs to be updated (although I suspect prices will immediately increase significantly with it)) 2. The beach used to be cleaned more thoroughly 3. In May - the sunset side of the sunset villas (rooms from 89 to 50) is very windy, with children it is better to choose sunrise Villas at this time of year. Six months later, the wind begins to blow from the other side) take this into account when planning your trip 4. Yoga - I would like it to be more active and advanced 5. The children's club is in great need of renovation, and it is planned in the near future, as well as the restaurant FIRE.SALT which is already being restored. If they ask me if I will return again, for the third time, to Anantara, I will definitely say - YES YES and again YES! But, perhaps, before my 3rd visit to this heavenly place, I'll see what other hotels in the Maldives offer) to compare and understand and fall in love again and return to my favorite Anantara!
