About the Hotel

Wind rustles through white plantation shutters at Cobblers Cove, a country manor on the west coast of Barbados where life carries an air of its colonial past. Afternoons pause for English tea in the Great House pavilion, tropical fruit accompanying delicate scones. Each morning, resident fisherman Barker sets out for the day’s catch – join him if you'd like – to be served up at the restaurant awarded best in the country by the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association.

Reviews for Cobblers Cove

Fabulous as always!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 20 hours ago

Our 6th fabulous holiday at Cobblers Cove. It is the most beautiful colonial styled hotel. Delicious cuisine and the dining area enjoys the most wonderful ambiance overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The staff are wonderful. Big thanks to Dee, Damien, Alia and Issan in the dining room, and massive Thankyou to Gregory, Damien and Ricky who looked after us during the day. In the evening we mustn’t forget Mathew in the cocktail bar and Pearson who prepared the wonderful cocktails. In addition we must express our thanks to Kimberley and Stacey, the wonderful ladies on the front desk. Much gratitude to Cobbler’s Cove for employing such amazing staff, they really do make the holiday

The Old Marigold Hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

First the positives. A tranquil setting right next to beautiful sea green water and lush, well attended gardens and quaint colonial style buildings. The rooms need a lot of attention taking shabby chic to the extreme. If you like a tired, comfortable look then this is for you. No tv’s but plenty of road noise at the rear in some rooms. The mini bar not re-stocked either. Breakfast is mediocre at best served with a shrug and a bit of an attitude. It’s hard to get breakfast wrong. One of the main bug bears is the hogging of the same sunloungers by a cabal of guests who have the same loungers every day reserved early but left for two to three hours until they deigned to use them. In the paperwork it says the hotel does not slow this but clearly they turn a blind eye. It’s not the 1970’s anymore. The sun loungers clearly had not had the towelling liners changed in sometime as they were all stained. The parasols are covered in mildew which is easy to remove with a jet wash. This is pure laziness. They even leave an umbrella in the corner which is broken and unused. The sea wall is covered in dirt which could be easily washed down. The walls to the sea steps were broken and filthy. The lanterns lighting the walls were filthy also. How much time would it take for the pool guys to wash them down in the morning. Drinks usually have to be asked for which is unusual for hotels along the West Coast. I am not surprised the staff are disaffected as they say they haven’t received tips for at least 7 months but this is only what they say. If this is true this would be disgraceful of the owners to profit from guests generosity. Having stayed in most of them things by far the worst on the island. This grand old dame needs resuscitation and fast! Whilst it clearly suits many people of a certain generation of a make do and mend attitude it’s not good enough to charge 5 star prices and offer a 3 star service and experience. This hotel is ‘Cobblers’!

Food was dreadful . Overpriced and tasteless -at the barbacue

Dreadful food served by disinterested staff . Avoid the overpriced Tuesday barbacue . No selection. Grilled good cold and overcooked .

This was our second visit to Cobblers Cove. Our opinion is unchanged. This is a beautiful hotel with standards. The staff are friendly and more than happy to help. I read on a virgin Atlantic review giving 1*. Not sure if they were at the same hotel as we were. Check in is efficient and swift. The rooms are well appointed and I gather will have minor work done over the year. Pool area is clean and there are plenty of sunbeds. We witnessed less bed hogging this year and they appear to be managing them well. BBQ Tuesday is a good night. Breakfast is more than adequate although not a large selection of pastries. Cocktails are very good, pool food tasty and the restaurant offers a good evening meal menu. Be aware that there are no beach sunbeds. I heard a new arrival moan that there were no beach beds. Get a towel and go on the 🏖️. We would definitely recommend and stay again.

Would not stay again.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Went based on a recommendation by a relative. Went for 2 nights before our cruise. Beautiful boutique hotel etc can’t fault it. It is the most expensive hotel I have ever stayed in. £1200 per night. We were told after one night that we would have to change rooms for our second night , since when was this a thing ? I have never experienced this before at much cheaper hotels and am absolutely disgusted at this with the price they charge. I expect to book two nights in the same room. The upheaval of moving in on day 1, moving the next day and then moving again for a cruise at £1200 a night is completely unacceptable. NO I would not stay again for this. If I am paying those prices I expect perfection.
