Wind rustles through white plantation shutters at Cobblers Cove, a country manor on the west coast of Barbados where life carries an air of its colonial past. Afternoons pause for English tea in the Great House pavilion, tropical fruit accompanying delicate scones. Each morning, resident fisherman Barker sets out for the day’s catch – join him if you'd like – to be served up at the restaurant awarded best in the country by the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association.

This hotel completely exceeded our expectations. The lush gardens and stunning decor set the tone right away: elegant but relaxed, with such a great vibe throughout. Every little detail was so thoughtfully done: handwritten welcome notes, cookies by the bed, beds prepped for sleep, and lovely local toiletries that felt like a treat. The service was incredibly personal. They greeted us by name and already had our favorite seats ready. It felt like they truly got us. The food and drinks were top-notch (afternoon tea was a favorite!), and we had so much fun with the watersports. Just the right balance of chill and adventure. Highly recommended!

Cobblers Cove was superb. We could not have had a better two weeks. We had an extremely comfortable suite, which was airy, beautifully clean, and had a wonderful terrace overlooking the lush gardens. We loved the bar with its delicious cocktails and the outstanding restaurant. As we were with our children who are in their twenties we also made the most of the fantastic water sports, in particular the waterskiing. Listing all these excellent elements, however, doesn’t really do justice to the special quality of this wonderful place: Cobblers is more than the sum of its parts because of its staff. From gardeners to boat drivers to barmen to housekeeping, every single individual gave us the warmest of welcomes and were attentive and professional. We really cannot recommend Cobblers Cove enough- six stars!

Cobblers Cove is a very pretty hotel — very classic and understated, with that old-school charm that feels like it could be a backdrop in a James Bond film. The food was good, and we especially enjoyed the Sunday BBQ. Service was friendly and efficient. You do have access to the beach, though it’s worth noting there aren’t loungers or much set up down there — more of a place for a quick swim than a full beach day. Overall, an intimate and relaxing place to unwind.

Outstanding all round. A boutique hotel with 40 rooms set in a lovely location with very friendly staff. We had a garden room on the ground floor so could walk straight out into the mature garden. If you get a garden room the ground floor is better as the patio is slightly larger then the balcony of the first floor rooms and the gardens are mature so privacy is not an issue. If you get a sea view room, go for the first floor as there is not a lot of privacy for the ground floor rooms / patios. Breakfast is excellent and a tasty complimentary afternoon tea is served at 4pm. Watersports is run by Bradley (a true gent); you get 1/2 hour complementary motor boat use (with driver) daily so you can go up and down the coast or water ski. Decent snorkelling off the beach, even saw turtles. Just wonderful all round - compliments to Joanna Roterberg and her team.

Another return visit and just as good as we remembered. From the moment we arrived to the time we had to leave, we felt so welcome by the kindness of all of the staff. It feels like visiting friends. As usual the suite was incredible, clean and comfortable. It was so good that we barely left the hotel apart from to walk on the beach or take one of the complimentary boat trips. The food is still the best we have tried in the Caribbean, we went full board and they would quite happily feed you all day if you could manage it! We saw monkeys, turtles, hummingbirds and the gardens are beautiful and extremely well taken care of. The biggest asset of the hotel are the wonderful staff. I can’t remember all of their names, far too many for my memory, but a special mention to some that really stand out. Gregory runs around making sure that everyone is wanting for nothing all day. He must be the fittest man on the island! It was lovely to chat to Johanna the general manager. She made sure we were taken care of. Demanta is a superstar. She is the restaurant manager and although she is there seemingly all of the time, every morning she would look glamorous and give you a lovely welcome. Pearson at the bar is a lovely guy, very polite and attentive. And then there is Virgil! Worth the visit just to see him! He is funny, entertaining, he is SO on the ball, figuring out what everyone likes and wants. And he never stops cleaning the bar. Just watch him. He’ll be busy making cocktails, and the whole time he is wiping down, keeping the bar clean. My wife and I decided that it should be called Virgil’s’ bar, but I’m not sure they will change it! Overall, another fantastic stay. We look forward to our next visit. See you soon.
