Best stay here yet!

Best suite (executive suite #3311); best breakfasts all week (a huge difference from last several stays), and best staff experience (special thanks to Ben, J.P., and Almira at the front desk; and Sandra, Evan, Jack, Rodrigo, Sam, Maranda, Adrian, and Abbey at Braxtons and the galley). Also, enjoyed our spa day thanks to Karen, Sarah, and Denise. Enjoyed the pool, hot-tub, and water-slide. Appreciated the 1 hour adults only time from 10pm-11pm! Great location; very walkable to town, and a good easy hike on the nearby Van Horne trail.

A pleasure across the border.

We took an overnight excursion from our home in Maine to the Inn. I’ll start with the staff: the front desk, hall help, and restaurant personnel were fantastically friendly and helpful. Regrettably, this is odd these days in the states. Josh was our waiter and was attentive and friendly. My wife had an issue with her meal. Once the matter was brought to the attention of our waiter, Josh engaged promptly. The manager came to the table and without hesitation made things right. The staff even gave us some raw carrots for our dogs who were back in the room (yes! They welcome dogs!). The hotel facilities were clean and updated. We will return.

Kids running wild

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Let me start by saying I love the Algonquin. Been here multiple times in different seasons. This visit was not pleasant - there were young hockey players everywhere with parents who were letting them run wild. Kids will be kids but having them in the pub being obnoxiously loud at 10 pm or in the grand room at 9 pm banging on the piano really destroyed the very things Ithat make this place special. I understand the hotel needs to make money in the off season but if you are catering to this crowd you need to empower your staff to intervene when the parents are oblivious or drunk. Staff needs to be able to quiet things down. Alternatively, create a space for kids and limit them to that area. I ran into a number of adults traveling without kids and they all said the same thing - how disappointed they were. I will think twice about returning or recommending to friends, which is a total bummer because everything else about this place is great.

Absolutely awful overpriced hotel

Stay somewhere else if you want to sleep and have hot food. * The hotel was overrun with loud drunk golfers and wedding guests. In the middle of the night at 2am some very loud people in the hallway were delivered extra towels and the person that delivered them said nothing to the loud people, so we had to go out in to the hallway and scream at the morons to shut up. * The room was disappointing. Dirty headboard. Beat up carpet. Simple, boring, not at all like you would expect in a hotel like this. * We were the first ones at breakfast buffet and everything was cold, like they cooked it way earlier and it sat for way too long before opening up for breakfast. * I complained about all this to the manager on duty and he didn't charge us for breakfast or the convenience store purchases, but he refused to refund our money for the stay. * We booked through hotels.com so I complained to them and was able to get them to make the hotel refund our money for the room.

An overall delightful dining experience on 9th February 2024 .The food was absolutely outstanding. We had special attention from chef Duga whom we met the night before and the best service from waiter , they were exceptional. We were rewarded with a special beautify arranged tasty deserts from chef as complimentary. All dishes were made with the finest details in presentation . We would not hesitate to come again and want to say a big, big thank Duga and other staffs for a wonderful evening. Lizzi
