About the Hotel

Characterized by the exoticism of the Caribbean and the mystery of Mayan culture, Belize is a land devoted to the "awes" of nature. As you awaken to new discoveries in this repository of the world's only refuge dedicated to the preservation of the jaguar, the howler monkey and the jabiru stork, guests are sure to acquire a new appreciation of wildlife and adventure. Where waterfalls drop into granite pools lined with tiger ferns, while parrots roost in the palmettos, Blancaneaux Lodge rises majestically out of the jungles. On encountering its radiant tropical beauty, Francis Ford Coppola declared it "the paradise hideaway I was looking for." His personal vision for the lodge was one of rustic comfort in harmony with the surroundings. Its elevated villas feature soaring hardwood and hand-woven thatch ceilings, furnishings crafted of local mahogany, and luxurious tiled baths that offers view of the jungle sky. An extensive array of robust activities that include canoeing, hiking, touring and more complete this picture of paradise. Envision yourself gently rocking in a hammock beneath the shade of coconut palms, while the Caribbean unfolds against a white sand beach.

UnBelizeable Vacation at the Best resort in Placencia

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We have first learned about Turtle Inn back in 2015, when visiting Coppola’s winery in California and his wine bar Zoetrope in San Francisco. We have been finally able to visit, while vacationing in Belize for the 3rd time and first time in Placencia. This resort is top notch and one of the best places I have ever stayed at The resort is beautiful and clean, with two pools, spa, several restaurants and bars, wine cellar, beach, and dive center. There are 26 dwellings/cottages, offering beach, pool, or garden view. We have opted for garden pool view cottage, located directly next to adults only triangle pool, mainly of the location and because the cottage offers A/C while oceanview cottages don’t. The food is amazing, best one we have had in Belize. They bring in fresh seafood every day, and fresh vegetables and herbs are delivered from organic garden on site. Even simple dish taste fresh and special. The Pizzeria, that is tucked away in the middle of the organic garden, offers fresh pizza, salads, and appetizers every day. We loved the casual yet classy atmosphere. Laubes kitchen offers authentic Belizean cousine, fresh fish with coconut rice and tasty veggies. Gaugin grill is set on the beach in a private section of the resort and features fresh seafood and delicious appetizers. Mare is the main restaurant on site that offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It is set next to the White Skip bar and the Wine cellar. We had some tasty meals there, including grilled red snapper, snook or handmade pasta. The beach bar offers same menu as Mare for lunch with addition of tasty cocktails. And of course, you can sample any Coppola wines at all restaurants and bars. The service at the resort is top notch. Ir shows that everyone loves their job, are dedicated, and showcase polite and friendly service. Everybody is so nice and pleasant to talk to. Special thanks to Alex, Oscar, Jessie, Ronnie, and many others for making our stay super memorable. I must mention that during our stay, we have booked wine tasting, that had to be cancelled last minute and as an apology we were gifted bottle of Director’s Cut Pinot Noir that we have enjoyed during our last dinner at Mare. This was a pleasant surprise and shows how much the staff value customer service. I recommend peeking into the Wine cellar as it is beautiful and impressive. Our stay was uneventful, relaxing and relaxing. Visiting this place is a must when in Belize, I know we will be back soon!

Fantastic service!

Turtle Inn service was beyond expectations! EVERY staff member was extremely friendly and accommodating. The answer to every request was Yes! We loved strolling the garden area and looking at the beautiful flower designs in the bird baths. The main arborist, Martin opened the bunny pen for my grandson to pet the bunnies and was always so helpful. He is an artist with the flower designs! We took the bikes out quite a few times and again the service there was so helpful and accomodating. Our family loved this place! The only suggestion I have is to change up the continental breakfast. 7 days of the same breakfast got a little long. The room service delivery was such a nice touch however, it just wouldve been nice to have a few other options. Turn down service every night was amazing! This is a great place if you want to be pampered and relax.

Turtle Inn at Placencia is unBelizeable!

Just spent a fabulous 8 days at Turtle Inn, exceptional service all round. The spacious Bali-themed cottages are wonderful especially the bathroom and outdoor shower area. Nothing better than waking up to the sound of the birds and having the sunrise pop through the shutters. A great variety of excursions to take with very knowledgeable guides and comfortable transportation. All the staff made us feel very welcome including Chip and Salsa. Its hard to single any of the staff out as all were wonderful but special mention go to Sylvano for his bartending skills, Melvin for his knowledge of the Mayan culture and history and Renato for his patience on our first tour day visiting the chocolate farm and factory, river tubing and waterfall which took the best part of his day. Hope to be back in Belize in the near future to visit Blancaneaux and return to Turtle Inn. Jackie & Craig

Best service.

The service is beyond exemplary. All of the staff, Sylvano, Anthony, Suzeli…all made our stay very comfortable. The property is very inviting and relaxing. The one thing I’d say is that on really hot and humid days, the lack of AC can be an issue. Most of our stay, it was very comfortable and breezy. Love the place.

Best Vacation in Belize at Turtle Inn!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

My wife and I vacationed here with our four kids, and renewed our wedding vows for our 20th wedding anniversary. We stayed here about four years ago at their private island, and everything was absolutely amazing! Although we were at their other property, this trip was no exception… Amazing! This is definitely a place to unwind as it’s extremely quiet, but also has many activities for family time like kayaking, snorkeling, enjoying the pool, the many games they have on-site, etc. There is a dive shop across the road where you can get bikes, fishing rods and snorkeling gear and we also went out of this marina on our guided, fishing trip! The staff and service is one of the many things that set this place apart, and really stand out as they cater to your every need! Everybody is so kind, helpful, and willing to do whatever they can to make the trip enjoyable. The lodging is very unique as there are many different villas throughout the property. Some oceanfront, some not, some air-conditioned and some open air… regardless, they are all spectacular! I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a vacation of a lifetime in Belize! We will definitely be back in the future!
