Lanzerac Hotel and Spa in Stellenbosch, South Africa
When it comes to raising a glass in cheer, there is no finer place to toast than Lanzerac Hotel and Spa. Tucked into the Cape Winelands of South Africa, this 300-year-old wine estate boasts one of the area's most distinguished examples of Cape Dutch architecture. Opening onto private patios overlooking lush vineyards, landscaped gardens and the majestic Helderberg Mountains, spacious guest rooms and suites preserve the atmosphere of a gracious era. And because every wine deserves a brilliant pairing, the manor offers numerous dining options, including the elegant Governors Hall and Mediterranean-styled Lady Anne Courtyard.
On the pastoral outskirts of the historic town of Stellenbosch, this tranquil property is ideally located. You might spend a day following the local wine routes, or travel into Cape Town to explore the Victoria & Albert Waterfront and the spectacular views from Table Mountain. You will also enjoy access to a wealth of championship golf courses and the inviting beaches of Gordon's Bay. Of course, you might also simply stay "home" and savor a glass of estate wine in the shade of an ancient oak.

Reviews for Lanzerac Hotel and Spa
I love this spa. It is one of my favorite spa's in the western cape. The location is great. Facilities are also very nice as you have access to many of the facilities after a minimum spent. The vitality bar etc adds additional benefits that could easily make this visit a day visit (or half day). I would highly recommend it to people visiting south africa. One comment is that recently during two treatments, after one treatment was done, we were taken out of the room, made to wait about 15min, got taken back into another room with a different therapist. This was very unpleasant and definitely spoiled the treatments for us. We did make recommendations regarding that to the spa. Lets hope they change that in order to ensure the overall experience remains lovely!

I had the privilege to go for a full body massage at the newly renovated Lanzerac Spa. No money was spared to ensure that it looked and felt truly luxurious. I walked two minutes early into my appointment and from there felt like royalty. Very friendly and professional service throughout the experience was five star treatment. Lizande gave the best massage that l have ever had. My only regret was that I did not go for a full Spa-day, as an hour and a half leaving you wanting to be treated even more.

The room we stayed in was interestingly decorated, very comfortable and spacious for a couple. The Deli was awesome for lunch, with a great selection of gourmet sandwiches, and the restaurant food was top notch

The Lanzerac Hotel in Stellenbosch is known by the locals as being the best hotel in the area. We enjoyed a wonderful stay there last year, but unfortunately, it suffered a devastating fire this year and I do not think it will be open for many months. Once open again, I highly recommend staying there. The setting is beautiful and peaceful. The upgraded rooms are 5-star. Ask for the 007 room. Breakfast is served in what was a beautiful colonial style room before the fire. I am certain they will restore the building to its former grandeur.

We were devastated to hear about the recent fire which affected several parts of this historic property. We visited less than one month ago while celebrating our honeymoon and cannot say enough nice things about this property. The hotel grounds are gorgeous, with mountain and vineyard views everywhere you look. The room was incredibly spacious with a massive bathroom. Ours had a claw foot tub AND separate walk-in shower. In recognition of our honeymoon, we were surprised with chocolate covered strawberries and a bottle of the hotel's celebrated pinotage upon arrival. Upon check-in, we were also given a voucher for a free wine tasting which we promptly took advantage of! We paired our tasting with a charcuterie platter - delicious! Probably our favorite part of our stay was the hotel's formal restaurant. We ate there every night. The quality and inventiveness of the food coupled with the romantic, historic ambience could not be beat. I am very hopeful that this property will be back in operation quickly. It is a beautiful, special place that has left us with memories of a lifetime - as I'm sure it has done for many others.
