At Six

We had high hopes for At Six, and there definitely are things to recommend, but on balance it wasn't the stay we expected. To like? Well the location can't be much better. At Six puts you in easy walking distance of the train station, the Drottininggatan pedestrian mall, as well the touristy old town (and Swedish parliament) to the south and the contemporary shopping area to the north. The hotel is actually attached to a mall (with an obligatory Ikea) which is convenient in case you need to rush out to get something. The breakfast is worth springing for. At Six boasts a very comprehensive buffet, maybe as big as I've ever seen. It is well prepared and presented by friendly kitchen staff and is very popular with hotel guests and locals. Servers were always attentive with coffee and espresso drinks. Strongly suggest getting your table before 8 am. On the down side? Well, if you planned to sleep, At Six might not be for you. Our room faced Brunkebergstorg, which itself is not a busy very street. But it is home to several clubs and restaurants that like to share their music with the outside world well into the early morning. I was awoken at 1:00 am on a Saturday by the relentless bass from one of At Six's neighbours. The room's HVAC system was too weak to provide any white noise, or air for that matter. The rubbed-off down symbol on the control showed the frustrations of past guests. Even a floor fan did little mask the bass. Raising this with the front desk was a fruitless effort. I was told there was nothing they could do until 3 am when the bars would close. I was kindly offered some earplugs. Sunday night was more quiet, but a maddening sleep left me feeling let down by At Six. In other cities, bylaws protect hotels from noisy neighbours. Not so here, I guess. A good night's sleep is a pretty core expectation of a good hotel. The lobby art is nice and helps the atmosphere in what is otherwise a hallway from the front desk to a coffee shop / wine bar. The common area decor of the hotel is dark and rich, with subdued greys. But metal bumpers ringing the baseboards of hallways on the guest floors left a cheap, institutional feel which I presume was unintended. So while the location and breakfast were great, my experience of being unable to sleep because of the hotel's neighbours, and the management's lack of concern about what has to be a recurring problem for guests, left me disappointed by At Six.

This was a very disappointing trip. I do not understand why Fine Hotels or Chase The Edit recommend this hotel There is no a/c at the hotel. Furthermore 95 percent of the rooms do not have windows. If you want your room to be on the cooler side, you have no alternatives. The staff knows this and tries to divert your attention with statements like in Sweden we don’t have a/c. They then point out there is a fan stored in the closet to use and they can provide a Dyson fan that does not cool the room. They have other diversions too. It might be true that many hotels don’t have a/c in Sweden, but they have windows that open. How Fine Hotels or Chase can include a hotel without a/c as a luxury property makes no sense To make matters worse I have been incorrectly billed several times. For the past four days I have emailed them, but no one responds. I have called the hotel several times but no answer at the front desk. I got to central reservations and they tried over and over shown to try to connect me. They told me that they will send a note to the hotel to call me. No one has responded. I hope that someone now will respond to 4 days with of emails When I get back to the states I will share my story with Fine Hotels and Chase

Location is excellent. Between everywhere most want to go on a visit. Old town nearby. Main city centre nearby in other direction. Short walk to metro. Good transport connections. Standard room a good size and comfortable but very dark as surrounded by buildings largely blocking day light. As a result, it feels mostly like nighttime in the room. It is a quiet hotel though and no noise at night. Very good breakfast but very busy on weekends and may take a few minutes to find a table. Wait staff are lovely though.

Great place to stay. Top notch breakfast, amazing service and the location is a 10. Worth every penny!

Incredibly pleasant room with beautiful tones. It feels luxurious and exclusive, yet modern and inviting. Outstanding service, plus an excellent gym and breakfast.
