We have stayed at Topnotch at least 8 times. Although it is a long drive for us and I am sure we could find a nice place in southern Vermont, Topnotch draws us back. The staff is outstanding, the service is the best and the facilities rock. We always have a wonderful and relaxing stay. Plus, we are able to bring our dogs, which is always a bonus.

Went there for a week-end of skiing and tennis with a good friend. The room was nice, the spa and heated pool were fantastic and we especially loved the excellent tennis facility across the street as the weather was so cold the first day that we couldn't ski. (-20 windchills). For active vacationers that are looking for a place that offers an excellent spa, tennis and super close proximity to the mountain, it's a good choice. I did not give it 5 stars because the food was only average.

Pros: views and outdoor seating areas. Outdoor heated swimming pool. Easy parking- no valet required. Landscaping is very attractive. Flannel restaurant is decent with very pleasant attentive servers. Cons: fairly recent renovations left no place for first floor lobby lounging. There are beautiful views but no indoor common space allows for natural light lounging. The TV/office/computer room is in the dark and dingy and in the basement. A natural light sitting area should be found. The cookies ( part of the resort fee ) are hidden there in the afternoon. The Roost restaurant space should be converted to more of a library/lobby/common area. Our room didn't have a comfortable chair; only a desk chair. The TV remote was weak - batteries needed to be replaced. With our housekeeper's tip we requested new batteries. Unfortunately, this didn't happen. Concierge greeted us but didn't make much eye contact - she was attending to computer screen on day one. Day two we didn't see much effort to engage, either. This resort seems to be close to being very nice but it's front lobby staff needs some "polish" training and the interior space needs some reworking. The Roost should have servers working the outdoor areas. We got our own coffee and soda and brought it back outside. We noticed dog hair clumps left in the same carpet spot day one and two by the elevator.

We rented one of the two-bedroom townhouses for a two day weekend with another couple. Our townhouse was fine - nothing luxury - actually a little outdated. Just needed a refresh - including painting of the interior (there were water stains in the ceiling of the master bedroom). Bathrooms were a little services were good on Saturday - but there were a lot of kids at the inside pool - so we didn't stay after our treatments. Breakfast at the restaurant was just ok - nothing special. So I know that a lot of people have had great experiences here - but for us it was just ok.....for what we spent there was nothing exceptional or memorable.

I stayed 2 nights in Topnotch Resort and enjoyed every minute. The staff was helpful, friendly, and had a good sense of humor; the room was spacious and comfortable with an amazing view of Vermont's mountains; and the two restaurants there had some of the best food I ever tasted. There is a lot to do at this resort, especially if you love to play tennis, but I only had time to enjoy the spa and the outdoor jacuzzi. The spa was great, but the outdoor jacuzzi was the highlight of my stay. I sat comfortably in the hot water surrounded by the chilly air and snow blowing in the wind. I got to see a splendid sunset and chatted with fellow guests while drinking a cold beer from one of Vermont's many unique breweries. It was delightful!
