I treated my parents who were guests of Top Notch to a cheese plate to welcome them to their room at the beginning of their stay. The concierge I worked with gave me a price of $45 over the phone. I chose to add two bottles of water, though the price of the water was not discussed as I assumed water bottles would not cost a significant amount in Vermont of all places. Fast forward two days after seeing the picture of a very underwhelming and small cheese plate (I could have purchased the local cheese and 2 strawberries for probably $15- max), a charge for $80 appears on my credit card from Top Notch. I call the concierge and am told the $40 difference is for "taxes and gratuity". To be charged almost the full cost of the cheese plate for tax and gratuity is completely unacceptable. I received no apology for being charged almost twice what I originally authorized and the concierge I spoke with was the antithesis of how your typical accommodating concierge would act. I was extremely disappointed in the service I received and would not recommend or trust this hotel with my payment information in the future.

Can't say enough about this hotel!! The pool and spa are amazing, and overlook Mt Mansfield. Front desk staff are super helpful. Somehow they all knew it was my birthday! Rates are much better midweek and shoulder season if you can swing it.

Millennials, hikers, families all here! Renovations really brought the place from the 'old ski-lodge' era to a 'modern resort'. Clean, upscale & comfy. Entry desk is right there; no more right & left turns. Cosy room right there; The Roost. Active bar (full), TVs, shuffle game, all around sofas, table&chairs serving a pub menu. New porch sitting area there. Elevator. (Hallways bit stuffy but rooms ok.) Wonderful pool area remains (&adult pool too). Fabulous Flannel Resturant also remains. There is the outside Cafe-like tables under blue umbrellas. Then there is a upscale inside dinning area. The views, especially late afternoon & as the sun sets superb. Enough ... check their website for their Tennis Ac., condo rental units, Spa + +. Topnotch (sorry for pun) infrastructure, amenities, service, etc. Look for their specials !!

We are beach people but had a spectacular time in the mountains during the summer at Top Notch. The staff made us and our Lab puppy feel very welcome! We enjoyed both restaurants the resort has to offer and food was great at both. I highly recommend sitting by the pool with a view of Mt. Mansfield in the background.
