Streamsong Resort in Streamsong, Florida

Far beyond a quintessential golf and spa destination, Streamsong Resort ushers in a new era of luxury in central Florida. Extraordinary is a way of life here. Surrounded by nothing but nature in every direction, Streamsong Resort is situated just under 50 miles southeast of Tampa, enveloped by acres of rolling greens and glittering lakes. The 216-room main lodge houses custom-built guest rooms and suites that are modern and sophisticated, with views extending over the horizon, fostering a true sanctuary vibe. Spaces are no less than 530 square feet in size, and feature floor-to- ceiling windows, walk-in showers, double vanities, and boutique amenities designed to accommodate every detail of your stay. Take advantage of the lodge's complete fitness center and outdoor lakeside pool, or spend some quiet time relaxing in the serene loft/lounge area. Perfectly set with lakes on its sunrise and sunset sides, Streamsong Resort takes full advantage of its splendid setting with plenty of scenic observation spots, and the lack of city lights makes for incredible starlight views, especially from the rooftop lounge.

The resort is home to a wonderful array of amenities and sporting activities, including multiple streams and lakes that offer excellent Florida bass fishing, a sporting clay shooting range, trails for hiking and bird watching, and outdoor fireplaces. Take your relaxation to the next level at the grotto-style AcquaPietra spa, where world-class treatments will transport you to a place of tranquility and ultimate refreshment. The crown jewels of Streamsong Resort, though, are the critically acclaimed Streamsong Blue and Streamsong Red golf courses. Renowned golf architects Bill Coore, Ben Crenshaw, and Tom Doak worked simultaneously to create two extraordinary 18-hole golf masterpieces - both of which were specifically designed to be walked and offer the ultimate golfing experience. When it comes to dining, the resort continues its superior offerings with four casual and fine dining venues, as well as multiple bars. Fifty-Nine is Streamsong's elegant steak and seafood restaurant, located in the clubhouse, and serves delectable options for breakfast, lunch and dinner, including a top notch wine list. For contemporary American cuisine in a stylish setting, P2O5 hits the spot with flavorful renditions of classic fare, and the resort's flagship gourmet venue, Sotto Terra, is an experience in fine Italian and intimate personalized service. Toast your fabulous day at the rooftop lounge, and delight in the endless pleasures that Streamsong Resort consistently brings.

On a golf trip. The hotel experience here is first rate. Love the contemporary style. The shades in the room are very cool and the floorplan is a unique suite type offering. Wish I had brought my wife along just to enjoy the hotel while I played golf. The food around the entire property is just splendid. This is a great resort. There was a wedding during our event and that group seemed to enjoy their destination wedding. Really much more than a golf resort.

So let’s just start with people come here for the golf. It’s in the middle of no where Florida. The nearest anything is 40 min away. So you are completely captive. The golf courses were great. Conditions were good. Courses well maintained, Caddie Services were great. However all the other support staff from shuttle drivers, hotel staff, restaurant staff just didn’t get it. For example, at the Black Course on a Sunday there was only 1 server working and it was his second day. The manager was no where to be found. Orders were put in incorrectly. Things we didn’t even order showed up. It took 25 min to get a beer. The food over all was ok to good, but nothing phenomenal. That was the worst of it. But there were other instances where the staff just didn’t get it and wasn’t making it happen. If you have been to Bandon for example, that is a well oiled machine With great service and great food. I say come here for the golf. Have low expectations on the service and hope for the best. But it was disappointing that such a great place like this had such poor service and relies on their golf courses and captive audience to be the only drivers of business.

Frankly, the big draw of this place is that it has the best resort golf courses in North America that you can reliably play in the winter. Unless you are up for Bandon in January or February, you just can’t find courses like at that time of year. But, while the overall staff is much improved, and the caddies are great, the overall feel of the place is that it is run by the Gang That Can’t Shoot Straight. Sometimes service in the restaurants is great, but then other times, you cannot get waited on, and that is not because it is crowded. Shuttle service is a great way to get to the courses and their restaurants from the hotel, until they aren’t. For example, we were starving after a day of golf with reservations at the Black course restaurant last Friday, but from 30 minutes before our reservation until after we were late, we could not get a shuttle. Two shuttles were being used by a wedding party, and we found out finally that the only other shuttle was not running because the driver has on break right at the crucial time for everyone to head to dinner. Advice on golf: make sure that your group is in multiples of 4, because if not, they will add a single to your group. Some guys are nice, but they might stick you with a slow player who is not taking a caddy, and then lecture the whole group about pace of play. Black course is nice, but only a top notch course if you get one of the first few tee times. We played Saturday afternoon, and the miserable round took well over 5 hours. But, we fell in love with the course on Sunday when we had the first tee time,,and could keep playing well and keep up our pace; we played in 3:50. Overall the rooms are nice, spa is great, courses are good but crowded, and service is getting better, but for what they are trying to do, and what they charge, there is plenty of room for improvement.

On the golf courses.... red is special, very special. Blue is close and a great play. Black is a very forgettable experience though they force you to play it. On the food. It is ok. The steak house is quite pricey for a very average meal. Leaves a bad taste in multiple ways. The resort is also in the middle of nowhere so you are captive to the food here. There is also no on prem entertainment. It will be hard to get our group to come back over better options like Pinehurst, Monterrey or West Palm for example.

Had a nice time shooting and very much enjoyed the evening dining at the main hotel restaurant. Look forward to a future golf outing or just heading back for some great food and a trip to the spa. Would highly recommend.
