My friend arranged for a group of 20 to play golf for 3 nights at Streamsong. He did an amazing job. The resort is beautiful. Let's break it down! Hotel: The hotel is spectacular. It was built over a sulfate mine. The rooms were clean and well kept, large and comfortable. Front desk staff was always very helpful and friendly. Golf: There are three well-designed courses. It is expensive to play at Streamsong but you get what you pay for, Two of the three were the most challenging. The courses are nicely groomed however you will be walking a lot.Trust me, you will get a good workout. The Balck course is about 7000 yards. The caddies were extremely friendly. The two caddies assigned to my foursome were so down to earth. They called themselves Maverick and Goose (Top Gun references), The caddies know the courses really well and will take care good care of you whether you are a scratch golfer or a newbie. Take care of them and they will take great care of you. If they see you are slowing other players down, they will help you speed up your game without disrespecting you. Do not take offense to this. This is the caddies doing their jobs. You will get a chance to see some big gators and possibly Copper Mouths on the course. My suggestion is if you can't find your ball, take a drop. Don't risk losing a hand or foot. Overall, this is one of the nicest courses you will ever play in North America. Restaurants and Food: Ugh. Sorry to say. I am not a picky person by any means however I was very disappointed with the food quality at the resort. The prices on the menu are very overpriced for the quality of food we received. During our dinner, the steaks were extremely dry to justify an $85 price tag. I asked for a medium and was served well done at best. There was no seasoning at all. The appetizers, also over-priced were served in extremely small portions. In all fairness, the people who served us during breakfast did accommodate our "To Go" requests every morning and the sandwiches they served were delicious but lunch and dinner food quality need much improvement. Spa: The spa is also quite nice. They have hot and cold jacuzzis, sauna's and massage rooms, however, the massage rooms are adjacent to the hot tubs so if you are looking for a quiet massage, heed caution. It will depend if you have a noisy bunch taking a dip after a round of golf outside your room. To be transparent, it was my own friends who were noisy and disturbing the massage rooms. I am sure the staff wanted them out quickly, however, they were very patient, friendly and accommodating. Overall: If you enjoy a good golf trip, you must play here once in your life. If time permits, take a trip to some of the awesome restaurants in downtown Tampa which is a little over an hour away.

Important: My review is exclusively based on the Black Course. Played the Black for the first time after playing Red and Blue numerous times (South Florida resident with a 3 handicap). The Red and Blue are spectacular, and the Black held very high expectations going in. I was very disappointed in the greens and a few layout points on the Black. For starters, the greens border on being unplayable with so many man made humps, mounds, false sides, false backs and false fronts. They're incredibly large, so large that there are sprinkler heads all throughout the greens that you may need to putt around on your way to the hole, and it makes for a very unplayable experience. Very gimmicky, very tricked up and very silly. There are also a number of blind approach shot holes, including 2, 5, 9, 14 and the goofy 13th with 2 greens. Specifically, number 5 is an uphill par 3, and with a back pin you cannot see the pin at all from the tee box. Likewise, 9 is an uphill par 4 with a crater green, and you cannot see the flagstick. As a result of these items, the golf course comes across as tricked up and not playable regardless of skill level. If you're going, play the Red and Blue, and replay one of those two courses.

I've stayed here three times over the past three years while working for a client who holds an annual conference. The property is miles from modern conveniences, but everything you need is there. It's hard to explain the feeling I have when I stay here - magical, chill, retreat, refreshing - I just can't find the right words. Since the property is surrounded by thousands of acres of rolling hills and former phosphate mines (that have become lakes) you only hear the sound of the wind - if anything. There's no din of nearby traffic like you'd experience in a big city resort - it's just peaceful and relaxing. I haven't partaken in the amenities, but the restaurant and bar serve tasty food and drink. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The architecture style and interior decor have modern European influences - lots of glass, concrete, and steel, but it's not overly industrial and cold - still has a certain warmth about it. I'm not a golfer, but friends tell me that the courses remind them of Scotland and they really enjoy the designs. The rooms and quite ample and comfortable with plenty of space and relaxing views. At night you can enjoy one of a number of gas firepits out back on cool winter evenings. Don't be surprised if you see an occasional bobcat, deer or armadillo at night while driving around - this is rural Florida where the wildlife is free to roam. There's nothing like Streamsong anywhere else in Florida. You owe it to yourself to stay here for a few days in the winter. I've never stayed in the summer, but I just don't do anything outside in Florida in the summertime.

Overall, it really is an amazing place. Literally, as my husband and I drove in you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere and this incredibly cool hotel pops up. Almost reminds you of a science fiction movie! Played golf two days, blue and red course, walked and had the absolute best caddie ever! Everton (the big E as he's called) made the golf rounds so memorable. He was incredibly knowledgeable - always watching out for gators and lovely critters and gave genuinely helpful golf tips! Highly recommend him!! Rooms were lovely, however felt that they very much cater to men, i.e., men focused products, no lighted makeup mirrors, no bar soap, etc. only reason I couldn't give it a 5 star was because of the food service. Our dinner in p2o5 was average at best. Service was not great (they kept the lights turned way up during dinner- felt like a cafeteria- even asking them several times to adjust). Staff in restaurants could use a bit more customer service training (never ever ever should a young server call you "hon"). All that aside, we would return in a heartbeat!! An absolutely stunning landscape, wildlife, links style courses!

Streamsong is a destination golf trip. Nothing is around it. Golf is the focus. My husband and I spent 5 days at the resort. There is a spa which offers all treatments. A special shout out to Morgan who does a great facial!! My husband and I booked spa appointments every day after golf. Only negative about our spa appointments is that the spa area was not well thought out when they built the facility. There are small hot tubs next to the treatment rooms and there was a lot of noise. I believe that the spa is aware of this and tries to drown out the noise with loud music in the treatment rooms. All of our treatments were very good. The rooms and the hotel in general are very minimalistic. Beds are comfortable, amenities in the bathrooms are lacking. Bring a bar of soap with you and a hair dryer. Internet in our room was extremely weak...had to go to the lobby to get a decent signal. We played all of the courses. Played the Blue Course and the Black Course twice. The Red course once. The Red Course is the best of the 3 courses. Very picturesque, ladies tees were fair and it was fun to play. The Blue Course was long and not that interesting. The Black course had just opened up 3 weeks previous to our arrival. It was the least favorite of the 3. Large greens were very gimmicky and had the flavor of a miniature golf green. No food on the Black except at the Bone Valley Tavern. Plan accordingly. In general, the bathroom situation is abysmal on all 3 courses. Fine for the men (yes....i did catch a “gentleman” relieving himself between holes.) but bad news for the ladies. Service was outstanding. We ate at all of the restaurants. Food was good but menus were limited. If you go, please know that dinner is very casual. Are we glad that we went? Yes. It was a fun trip for us but I don’t think that we would go back again.
