Acqualina Resort & Spa on the Beach in Sunny Isles Beach, Florida

Acqualina Resort & Spa on the Beach picked an ideal location to pitch its bright red beach loungers and cozy hammocks. Fashion types will delight in the proximity of the Bal Harbour Shops and Aventura Mall, while guests who crave Miami Beach’s neon lights can easily get their nightly fix. The biggest temptation, however, is right at the resort – four pools, including an adults-only oasis flanked by cabanas, offer tranquility that can only be topped by a visit to the Finnish saunas and ice fountains at the award-winning spa.

Claim your shaded lounge chair on a quiet, sugary beach early and fall promptly back to sleep. The sun warms you to the core. Drift in crystal-clear Atlantic water and walk back through lush gardens, stopping to sip on a pineapple-mango smoothie by the pool. Take an afternoon drive to explore Miami’s Art Deco district and return for a plate of rigatoni worth writing home about – to your New York friends still waiting for reservations.

This is a seriously impressive resort and would be an excellent choice for any luxury-lovers who want a top-end Miami beachfront hotel, especially those who prefer to be away from the madness of South Beach. For those who don't like things to be too flashy, I would also say not to be put off by the vulgar display of Rolls Royces, Ferraris and other expensive cars parked out-front; the guests were far less ostentatious and entitled in their behaviour than this suggests (fortunately). When we arrived, our suite wasn’t yet ready so we went for lunch at the beachfront restaurant. We were taken aback by the quality of service and attentiveness from everyone – waiting staff and poolside teams – all were excellent. The staff are very customer-focussed but not obsequious and, overhearing other guests at adjacent tables, it was evident that many were regular visitors (the hotel is flanked by multi-million dollar condos whose residents also use the hotel facilities). The hotel’s facilities are impressive – three pools - beautifully landscaped and laid out, no shortage of loungers and other seating. The beach here is wide and the sea was a perfect turquoise shade. At around 4pm our suite was ready and was fabulous. Superb oceanfront views from enormous windows, a kitchen, a large sitting room plus a very good bedroom and brilliant bathroom. Please, ALL hotel bathroom designers should check out the sink units at this hotel: they are the best I have ever seen. My bugbear often in hotels is that there is next to no storage for various toiletries. Not here – beneath each sink was a large cupboard with well-designed doors, which also had shelves. So there was loads of room and everything stayed in its place. Absolutely brilliant. Breakfasts were a treat. I usually dislike buffets but I was tempted here based on the sheer quality of what was on show (and no I have never seen chocolates or pastel-hued macarons for breakfast before). Jaime and Simone our servers on different mornings were charm embodied and we really enjoyed meeting them. Finally the concierge was also tremendously helpful and went out of his way to assist. Everyone was truly delightful! Many thanks to the whole team of excellent staff and we look forward to our return (already booked) just before Christmas.

From the moment we arrived until the last farewell this was a luxurious and beautiful experience. The team recognized me by name and that of my mother who was with me in every interaction. A true sign of appreciation and professionalism. This is a true oasis from reality. Can't wait to be back!

A great hotel for a week holidays. Very large rooms, very large bathrooms, really quiet, exceptionally well maintained beach and 3 pool areas. Spectacular views from ocean view rooms. Good service everywhere . Negative was quality of Sunday brunch - not at all at level of hotel. A pity! Good breakfast buffet - you pay some $ 50.-/p, which is high. Impressive Spa area. The very upper part of the hotel is a reserved area for condominiums. It seems that a Rolls Royce is mandatory to live here, as an impressive number of RR cars are parked day and night in front of the hotel. The hotel has further the advantage to be located 45 minutes North of Miami Beach, which means you are out of the crowd. A luxury place and a Must.

Have had the great Acqualina feeling and treatment again. Outstanding, And that's due to a fantastic staff. Wow. Compliments. You people are so... For us the most relaxing stay in the (European) winter.
