Marenas Beach Resort

Very poor experience. On arrival to check in which was from 4pm we were told the room was not ready, would be about an hour. No worries we'd pop back. An hour later still not ready, this went on a few times before we got our room at 9:30pm!! IT GETS WORSE.... as we headed to our 5th floor room we exit lift to see a big sign saying this floor is under maintenance. The corridor had big holes in the ceiling, all smoke detectors taped up. We enter the room and shower is hanging down, plug sockets exposed, tv not working, phone not plugged into wall at all, NO HOT WATER at all from the taps, like no water at all came out. The balcony is directly alongside the neighbouring building site and is absolutely covered in cement dust. I leant against the balcony and was absolutely covered including all the balcony furniture, floor, patio doors and the smell of cement dust filled the room. I went back to reception to express the problems. Got told no more rooms available have to see a manager at 7am in the morning. We couldn't even shower after a long day travelling. We were then woken at 7am by the most unbelievably loud noise from the building site next door. You literally couldnt hear yourself on the balcony and made the balcony use absolutely useless. I went to reception at 7am as requested. No manager. Tried at 8am as told to, no manager!! Finally 9am i could speak to someone. His exact words to me were "I'm not even going to insult you and try to defend this, you should never have been put in that room". No more rooms though until checkout from other guests at around 2-3pm. Still no where to wash or clean etc. We came back at 2pm, no room available, 3pm no room available, finally got our replacement room at 6:30pm over 24hrs after arrival. They waived the valet parking but refused to lower resort fees even though we couldn't sensibly use them for the 1st day and half or help with refund of the 1st night. Really disappointed with what should have been a fantastic stay for the wife's 50th birthday.

We always come to Marenas for a simple reasons, the place is fantastic, beach side, great rooms, and above all the people. Alberto on the beach, the people at the valet, the check in, the bell doors, everybody is just fantastic. Well done

The staff was lovely! In particular, Fernando, who helped us get great spots on the beach! He was kind, hard-working, I made our experience all the better! The day pass was the perfect Mother’s Day gift… Exactly what I wanted!

Christian was the best bartender I’ve ever had! You need to try his espresso martini!

Water was leaking from the shower making the floor extremely slippery. Water wasn’t hot either. We called down a few times asking for maintenance to fix it as it was a hazard. Hours later my friend slipped and knocked her head. She had a concussion. I called the front desk saying we needed medical assistance. No one came for about 30 min. I ended up running down saying we needed assistance and asked why no one ever came. The manager began insulting me and kicked us out. I’ve never been kicked out of any place before. He’s a complete sociopath and showed zero concern. Almost sued them. Should have.
