We decided to go for easter sun rather than the slopes as we have a 4 month old. The property is well kept and services fine. The suite we had was also fine and having a kitchen was also very useful with young kids. Its right on the beach which is great and the pool, though small is fine for young ones. Being close to Aventura mall and 10 mins from Ball harbour mall is also great - plenty of eating options and a cinema at the mall for the kids on rainy days. A couple of negatives - there seems to be a building site on one side of the hotel which is processing earth (I guess before they start building) which is both very noisy and also kicks up a lot of dirt - our balcony was regularly covered with dust and honestly it wasn't too pleasant to sit outside with the noise and dirt. Secondly while Kenny and his crew were very helpful at the beach we found many days the entire front row of loungers 'reserved' by a flip flop and a bottle of sun cream. Having sat at the beach until after midday several days before a few people turned up to said loungers we felt a bit second class citizens as we had been told they were 'reserved'.. Quite a lot of people we spoke to were similarly annoyed and I think the hotel should consider its beach policy.

My wife and I traveled to Sunny Isles Beach to attend a wedding last week, and took on the more expensive hotel option presented by the hosts, in an effort to make the trip more special. We arrived very late on Thursday, and were greeted by a friendly staff. It had been a long day of travel that had been topped off with our luggage being lost by the airline and a need to go to the CVS, two blocks away to purchase bathroom amenities and sleeping-clothes. The staff steered us in the direction of where we needed to walk to, and it would have been appreciated if a shuttle service would have been at least offered, which it was not. Sunny Isles isn't a bad part of Florida, but we didn't feel entirely safe either, considering we were from out-of-town, and it was past midnight. But, we made it - and no big deal. On Friday morning at 7:30am, we were awoken by the sound of heavy equipment being operated directly next door to the resort, which included the sounds of tractors, back-hoes, and a machine that was used to sift the beach sand for rocks. The very loud noise from these machines echoed off the walls of the Marenas Resort, completely washed out the sounds of the ocean (that we had paid extra to hope to hear), and lasted until 5pm. When I called the front-desk (at 4pm) to ask if a room on the opposite side of the hotel was available (away from the noise), I was transferred to a Manager named Victoria who could not have been any less interested in helping. She informed me that all of the rooms were full, and when I explained that I was spending $265 a night to stay in an ocean-front room so that I could relax, she responded by pushing the blame for the situation over to our wedding hosts, and stating that they were well aware of the construction that was happening when they contracted the room block, and that if I had a problem with the noise, I should take that up with them! Truly unbelievable. I don't know how much revenue our friends helped to generate for the Resort that weekend, but it was more than enough to shelter them from having any blame placed upon them. Now while Victoria was clearly not ready to offer any form of discount on the $265/night rate, she didn't even offer a round of drinks at the hotel bar, a free dessert from the restaurant, an appetizer by the pool...Nothing! Just a "that's too bad for you - talk to your friends." I can't imagine a resort handling the matter any worse, and it left a bad taste in my mouth for the remainder of the trip. All of that was amplified by the fact that we overheard a man on the elevator that very night talking to his friends about how wonderful he thought the resort was - especially since he had landed the room for $120/night on Trivago! Now, I can admit that this was nothing more than hearsay, but if that is true - not only did Victoria not provide me with the other room that I asked for, but there appears to have been options available at the Resort for less than half of what we paid! Otherwise, the pool is rather ridiculous in-size for a resort of this size. It is no bigger than the average backyard pool. Also, the halls of the floor we stayed on (19th) didn't look like they had been vacuumed in weeks, and there were these 1980's era phones hanging from the wall in the elevator bank - with a dangling wire exposed! It just looked cobbled together, and cheap. As for the staff (aside from Victoria), the front desk team and the beach-crew were very friendly. The location is in close proximity to a shopping plaza that has a number of Eastern European dining establishments which my palate enjoyed. And when the construction next door wasn't happening on Saturday, it was actually a pretty nice beach. All of these things said, it is not a resort I would ever return to, and I feel like I was ripped off for spending $795 to spend three nights there.

Have you ever heard the saying you never know what someone is battling so always be kind ? For the past two years I've been battling a horrible battle so this year I chose to get a room and to celebrate my birthday. If it was not for a wonderful employee her name is Carly I truthfully don't think I would have left my room for two days . Thank you Carly you are the most exceptional woman I have ever had the pleasure of meeting you made me smile the first time in two years you treated me with such kindness and genuine sincerity . Marenas you have the best employee I think any company would have the honor to have. Not to mention that every employee that I personally had met always wanted to be so helpful. You have a customer forever and I am telling you that it is because of Carly . Any hotel can be beautiful with a view , however to meet an employee who is just as beautiful as the views is rare . Highly recommended for anyone looking for not just a gorgeous hotel but also with the same type of service. Thank you so much.

Beautiful hotel and property! Pros: -Quick access to the beach -Chairs and umbrella provided for FREE by the hotel -Unlimited towels -Food and bar service on the beach -Clean pool and facilities Cons: -It costs money to have a package delivered to the hotel -The sun dips behind the high rises around 3 oclock so you have to move to get sun. Big minus here!
