Estonia, once part of the former Soviet Union, is becoming quite the travel destination. In the bustling northern city of Tallinn is the remarkable Hotel Telegraaf, housed in a historic 1878 building that once served as an exchange for the Estonian Telegraph Company. Named to the Condé Nast Traveller, UK Hot List, this swank urban retreat boasts five-star status and a premier central location. Most guest chambers are located in the hotel's historic tower, while the Executive Rooms are housed in a newer wing. They all feature contemporary design, historical touches, and courtyard or city views.

From the moment we arrived until we left, we had a superb experience. The staff was exceptional - attentive, helpful, and pleasant. The hotel and our room were absolutely immaculate and well-maintained. Since we are Bonvoy Titanium Elite and it was available, we were upgraded to a beautifully appointed and very spacious corner king suite, room 310, which was impeccably designed and extremely comfortable. After trekking around the Arctic in Finland, we could totally relax and decompress in this elegant boutique hotel. We enjoyed all the little touches like heated bathroom floors, walkout balcony (view from this in pic), and fresh flowers on the coffee table. The food at the restaurant was very nice. The breakfast buffet was varied and quite plentiful, and you could order a la carte, too, if you wanted something that wasn't on the buffet. We ordered room service a few times... all excellent experiences. Unfortunately, we didn't get to experience the spa because we caught colds in Helsinki. We highly recommend Hotel Telegraaf to everyone... a serene and refined oasis in the middle of Old Town Tallinn.

I stayed here for two nights on a business trip to Tallinn. A swift and efficient check in, good rooms and a central location. In the old town. The buffet breakfast was decent with an acceptable selection. Staff in general were efficient if not friendly.

I thought long and hard about where to stay for one night in Tallinn. Some of the more modern hotels had better facilities, but were located outside the old town. In the end, I stuck with the Telegraaf and am very happy I did. Thoughts: - I took a base level room which was in the old part of the hotel. Small (desk and bed), but full of character and comfortable for sleeping - Breakfast is in the dining room which is a very upscale restaurant by night. The buffet was good, especially for the pricing of the hotel. Would have been nice to have fresh juice, but just about everything else was possible (big choice of eggs to order) - The spa is small but fine for a relaxing city break. Small pool (no more than 8m long), jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. Should have booked a spa treatment ahead of time because I was told they are after 1800 only, but are reasonably priced for this sort of hotel (Eur70 per hour for a massage) - Location of the hotel is perfect in the centre of the old town. Faults? Just that there's no coffee machine in the room which is odd at this level in 2024. Especially frustrating because before breakfast at 0700 there was no sign of anyone to buy coffee in the lobby bar.

We arrived late after our flight, found a prompt check-in, and were hungry. The front desk man, whose name slips my mind, was outstanding. He recommended and spoke to the owners to get us a booking at the Olde Hansa for dinner since the hotel kitchen was closed – a fantastic suggestion with brilliant service. Our checkout was extended to 2 pm, and thanks to Marriott Bonvoy, we were upgraded to an Executive Junior Suite. The room was spacious, clean, and well-appointed. I particularly enjoyed the functional antique telephone. Breakfast was excellent, and the bar, also offering delightful truffle fries, provided top-notch service. Undoubtedly, the best place to stay in Tallinn, not to mention its prime location near the main town square with numerous dining options.

Really nice hotel. Lovely old world touches. My room had a private sauna. Concierge was attentive. They even helped my husband buy me flowers and delivered them to my room. Breakfast was lovely. Nice spread of cold cuts, pickles, fruits, yogurts, pastries, and eggs made to order.
