Cala Luna Boutique Hotel & Villas in Tamarindo, Costa Rica

Cala Luna Boutique Hotel & Villas is so close to Costa Rica's Pacific shore that waves are the soundtrack that lulls guests to sleep. Located on a secluded section of Langosta Beach, where the sunsets are vibrantly visible and the tide rolls in over volcanic rock, Cala Luna is centrally located to the surfing mecca of Tamarindo. But the natural beauty – and daily vinyasa yoga classes in an open-air studio – makes the resort itself a place to connect with Mother Earth.

End the morning's sun salutations with a guided meditation while listening to the chatter of a nightingale thrush in the trees. Walk through an indigenous forest filled with wildlife to the beach and explore tidal pools filled with fish and crabs. Take an afternoon snorkel cruise, keeping an eye out for dolphins and breaching whales. Return for happy hour on the beach before a personalized dinner under the stars.

We had stayed in Nosara the week before and had AMAZING food- this property was breathtaking and the staff were excellent but the food was just ok. The shared wall of our room allowed us to hear the other guests television from 1am to 3am every night.

We arrived in La Cala Luna early January with our 4 teenagers. We were not disappointed. The 3 bedroom villa is just fabulous and huge with your own private pool. The staff could not do enough for us and we thoroughly enjoyed the use of the Free bikes to go into the local town for lunch or just shopping. The staff at reception Irene, Rodolfo, Gabriel and a special mention for Margoth and Katherine who were always so attentive to our needs.... The beach is however rocky but beautiful to watch sunsets and it is worth noting that it is accross the road from the hotel Thank you all at La Cala Luna for such a memorable stay with our family which we will never forget...

Well-appointed hotel. Snacks and drinks by the pool. Or walk a short distance to the beach- which has natural shade. Almost a private beach- quiet. Can walk a mile to Tamarindo along the beach at low tide. Have bikes for loan at hotel-adult only bikes though. Arranged kayaking tour for us. Spa services available. Breakfast included and tasty. Sunset happy hour cocktails. Nice to be a bit away from frenetic Tamarindo- but close enough to go into town if desire.

Definitely get the paradise vibe here: The staff is really friendly and warm. Upon arrival you are greeted with a welcome drink. After the roads in Costa Rica, you need one. The rooms are beautiful bungalows surrounded by lush jungle gardens. You see lots of monkeys and birds on the property. We were there during Christmas. The hotel was full but never felt crowded. Great pool, great breakfast. The beach in front of the hotel is really beautiful but it’s too rocky to swim. It’s no big deal you can walk five minutes to the right and get to Tamarindo Beach. You can also go the left and get to a totally secluded beach. The sunsets at the hotel beach are breathtakingly beautiful. Everyone comes out to watch. The hotel provides complimentary sunset cocktails. There are lounges and hammocks to hang out in. I would definitely come back.
