This is a very expensive hotel, supposed to be 5star+. It did not come any where near up to the mark. Our room was left unserviced, bars were closed, the pool bar did not open until 11am and we had to chase around to get towels. The hotel is under staffed. You are paying for location not service.

The room was large and beautifully appointed. It was quiet despite being at the front of the hotel. There was a porch off the room if you want to sit outside. The hotel staff was very helpful. My one complaint was the complicated system for getting internet service. If you lealve the hotel grounds, you need to reset when you arrive back. It's possible that this was due to the extreme amount of security at the hotel and all over Taormina in anticipation of the G7 meeting.

This hotel is a prefect combination of relax atmosphere, high quality service, perfect location and boutique type approach. The view on the roof restaurant for breakfast is stunning. The people are very nice. The diner restaurant has a exquisite cuisine with surprising originality and top quality. The size of the hotel is very compelling as it only has a limited number of rooms/guests, which makes it a peaceful jewel in the middle of a busy little town.

The Ashbee Hotel is a beautiful property...simply gorgeous. We received a warm welcome when we arrived and throughout our stay. We had two different rooms. The first one was located in the main building and was luxurious. Everything in the spacious room was well appointed and comfortable. The second room was located in a side building and was also well appointed and had a large patio. The big issue with the second room was mold on the walls and draperies. The hotel was sold out while we were there, so there was not an opportunity to move to a different room. The Ashbee Hotel did right by me when I raised the issue to them, which I appreciate. However, the mold in that room did not suddenly appear. It was in that state for quite some time and should have been remediated. One other negative about the room was the extremely slow wi-fi connection throughout the stay. Breakfast each morning on the terrace was spectacular. There was a large variety of food and beverages. The coffee was excellent. We had dinner one evening at the main restaurant, with delicious food and friendly service. The hotel is a short walk to the heart of Taormina. I would return to this hotel the next time I am in Taormina.

The building and gardens of this hotel are without doubt very beautiful. The location is excellent for both the main town and access to the cable car to the beach. The staff were wonderful. Nino welcomed us in a very friendly manner and made some great suggestions for what to do during our stay in Taormina. Irene (reception) was also extremely friendly and helpful when it came to making plans for our excursions to Mount Etna (brilliant) & Villa Romana del Casale (absolutely amazing). Our superior room did smell damp and lacked a few shelves/drawers for storage. The wifi in the room (away from the main building) wasn't great. The bathroom looked fab but there was no extractor fan which didn't help with the damp, in fact the bathroom door didn't shut due to the damp patch above it. However I am being picky here and it really didn't stop us having a fantastic trip. Oh and I don't know if this is bad all year (or even every year) but insect repellent was definitely a must for us in October!
