El Monte Sagrado, situated in the mountains of Northern New Mexico, offers a serene setting surrounded by waterfalls, ponds, and towering cottonwood trees. The perfectly manicured grounds make this mountain retreat an oasis only a few blocks away from the town of Taos’s historic plaza and 20 miles away from world class skiing at Taos Ski Valley.

We stayed here for 1 night on a quick trip to Taos. The hotel is very nice, check in was easy. We had a nice room and the staff were friendly and helpful. Parking was easy and the hotel is just a short drive from the centre of town.

Set in a quiet oasis, the grounds at the Sagrado are genuinely beautiful and serene, with plenty of well-maintained outdoor space. The valet staff were courteous and helpful, and check-in and general hotel staff were friendly and professional throughout my stay. Unfortunately, the guest rooms told a very different story. My first room had visible hair and pet food on the floor, damaged walls, and dirty curtains — the room felt neglected and worn. I reported this to the front desk and was moved to a second room, which turned out to have the same issues: scarred furniture, dust along all the baseboards, a stained carpet, an armoire with doors that wouldn't close, and a shower with visible stains. The box spring was torn, the sliding glass door was dirty, and black scuff marks were visible throughout the room. At that point, I decided not to request a third room, as it seemed clear this level of upkeep was consistent across the property rather than an isolated issue. I was genuinely concerned about pests given the state of the room, so I kept my belongings sealed in my suitcase for the duration of my stay rather than unpacking as I normally would. It's particularly disappointing because I stayed about a year after the hotel's major remodel — it's hard to reconcile that with rooms in this condition. The bones of a great hotel are clearly here: the grounds, the location, and the staff are excellent. But the guest rooms are in urgent need of deep cleaning and maintenance, and I'd hesitate to return until that's addressed. There are many more photos to add, including stains on the carpet and dirty light switches. I thought my choice of photos would suffice to show the general condition of the rooms.

The rooms were beautiful, the service fantastic and the meeting facilities were more than adequate - they were great! We were celebrating our 10th year in business and really wanted to reflect the charm of our area and your resort fulfilled all of our expectations!

El Monte Sagrado is a wonderful resort, beautiful both inside and out. My husband and I had our wedding here, and I would not have wanted it at any other place. The property has amazing rooms, uniquely themed and luxurious... The staff treated us like our wedding was as special to them as it was to us. Thank you, El Monte Sagrado, for making our wedding the most special day of our lives.
