My husband took me to The Farm at Cape Kidnappers for my birthday and it was just fantastic. He had told the staff what the occasion was and many of the staff made a point of wishing me Happy Birthday. There was also a note and a little gift in our room on arrival in acknowledgement of it being a birthday celebration. We arrived in time for lunch and I had the Thai pumpkin soup which was divine and I then went and had a massage and facial at the Spa. The spa is gorgeous and I have had a few treatments there in the past and always found the therapists very good. This occasion was no exception and my therapist Carole was amazing. She was friendly, professional and caring and made the 2 treatments seemlessly blend into was very relaxing. After the spa treatments hubby and I had a soak in the spa pool. It was a little too hot for me and it was no problem finding a helpful member of staff to cool it down. To end the day we had canapes and drinks followed by a sensational meal in the Conservatory...definitely the best dining spot. Hubby and I both had the tasting menu and loved the food. We have stayed at The Farm and the other Robertson Lodges numerous times over the years and the food has always been good. In the past 2-3 years however it has gone from good to exceptional. Breakfast was also fantastic with a great selection of both healthy and decadent treats on offer. We stayed in Lodge Suite 4 which is our favourite suite. It has a fireplace and bay window which the other Lodge suites do not (at least that is my understanding). We are trying a Ridge Suite next time which are the same size (vs the smaller Hilltop suites) and also have fireplaces apparently. The rooms and the lodge itself are all beautifully appointed with first class amenities.

Everything about this hotel is top notch, including the prices! The place is stunning, the staff is remarkable and our visit here will always be remembered. Our family of 5 did everything from clay shooting, to river rafting, to horseback riding, to sheep herding, to hiking.. only thing we didn't do was golf! It was an amazing trip and everyone took detailed care in making sure we had a wonderful visit. The food was terrific and we enjoyed leisurely breakfasts and dinners. The pre dinner cocktail hour was a great time to mingle with guests from around the world and to chat with terrific staff! The rooms were beautifully appointed and we spent most of our downtime on the deck overlooking the sea. It was definitely pricey, but 100% worth it!

The location, the experience, particularly the wildlife, the scenery, the walks, the people, the luxury, the food, the rooms, the spa, the pool, the golf - if you play! A place where we would always aim to return. A private sanctuary.

Another winner. We stayed at The Owners Cottage. It comes with a chef to cook your dinners. Besides fantastic golf course there are other activities on the property. One I enjoyed was Razor ride through out the property for the sunset at the lighthouse. Friendly and helpful staff - NO - it’s not in their vocabulary.

I totally loved The Farm at Cape Kidnappers. It is very easy to spend three, four or more nights here even if you aren't a golfer (for golfers it is paradise). For starters, the location is amazing with wonderful views of Hawkes Bay, incredible cliffs, gannets, Kiwi Birds, sheep and more. The staff is very welcoming and helpful, the meals are delicious and the rooms are comfortably well-equipped with great views, lovely terraces and scenic landscapes overlooking the bay and/or the farmlands. I highly recommend the Kiwi Discovery Walk. Participating in it provides funding to support the New Zealand Kiwi Bird conservation efforts and it is just really amazing to track down and hold a Kiwi Bird. The hike to the gannet nesting spot is great as well. A good hike to get some exercise and to see the intriguing gannets if they are in season while you are there. I certainly look forward to going back to The Farm at Cape Kidnappers in the future.
