Thatch Caye Resort

My partner and I returned to Thatch Caye in June 2026 after spending a few days there in April 2025. We loved our first experience so much that we specifically came back to complete our scuba certifications. Scuba Certification:
 Thatch made the entire certification process incredibly easy. We completed our pool training in California and finished our open water dives in Belize through their referral program. Our instructor, Marisha, was outstanding. She took the time to ensure we understood both the knowledge and skills required to dive safely and confidently. Throughout every dive, I felt comfortable, supported, and well-prepared. I cannot recommend completing your PADI Open Water certification with Marisha and the dive shop at Thatch highly enough. Plus, why not get your certification at one of the most beautiful reefs in the world? Overall Experience:
 The atmosphere at Thatch Caye is unmatched. The staff are warm, attentive, and genuinely invested in making your stay memorable. They quickly learn your name, remember the excursions you have planned, ask about your experiences, and encourage you to try new adventures. One thing that stands out is how welcoming and inclusive everyone is, creating an environment where ALL guests feel accepted and comfortable. During both visits, we met wonderful people from around the world! If you're looking for a relaxing getaway with a balance of adventure and tranquility, Thatch Caye is an incredible destination. We have now visited twice and would gladly return again.

Absolutely the best experience! Staying on a private island was incredible, but the service is what truly sets this place apart. The food was amazing. I am vegetarian, and after casually mentioning that I hadn't gotten enough plant-based protein at our previous resort, the resort manager, Luis, and the kitchen staff made sure I had a special, protein-packed dish at every single meal. It was incredibly thoughtful. There are so many great activities you can book directly with them. A huge shout-out to Raafi, he is a very fun and knowledgeable instructor who made our outings memorable. On top of that, when we weren't feeling well and had to miss our scuba dive, they were kind enough to refund the payment without any hassle. The staff here is genuinely nice and accommodating. 100% recommended and we will definitely go again! P.S. If you are the chosen one, one of the island dogs will sleep under your bed. We miss you Marley!

We spent five nights at Thatch Caye during our honeymoon and could not have been more impressed. The staff was so warm and welcoming. They really took the time to get to know us and show us a great time, whether by firing up the karaoke machine, mixing an expertly crafted cocktail, taking care of all transfers and excursion bookings, or just making sure we were well-fed while off adventuring. The island is small, but has a white sand beach, three bars, games, overwater hammocks, and lots of opportunities for adventure on the ocean and further afield in the western jungle. It was so much fun waking up to the local stingray outside our overwater bungalow and seeing all the different shells inhabited by hermit crabs that roam the island. A big thank you to everyone there who made our first trip to Belize so memorable. It won’t be our last.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 10 Stars if I Could — An Anniversary We Will Never Forget My wife and I stayed at Thatch Caye to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary, and I am struggling to find words that do it justice. This place exceeded every expectation we had, and that is entirely because of the people who work there. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with one of the most genuine, heartfelt greetings I have ever experienced at any resort, anywhere. You could immediately feel how much the staff cares — not just about the guests, but about the island and each other. That energy never let up for a single moment of our stay. Happy hour at the Starfish Bar was an instant highlight — great food (the wings and queso are not to be missed), but even better company from the bar staff who treated us like family from the first conversation. The Coco Lounge staff brought the same energy after dinner — hardworking, hilarious, and genuinely caring. Karaoke has never been so fun. The accommodations were beautiful. Our Barracuda Bungalow was spotless, the AC kept things perfectly cool, and it felt inviting and private all at once. The food is simply unbelievable. Every single meal was exceptional, but our anniversary romantic dinner was one of the most delicious meals I have had all year. The kitchen team takes real pride in what they put on the plate and it shows. The service throughout was unlike anything we have ever experienced. Staff brought drinks out to us on our floats, explained the local wildlife, carried our bags without us even asking, and remembered the small things that made the difference between a good trip and a perfect one. One team member in particular stood out as the heart and soul of the entire resort. Her kindness, professionalism, and genuine warmth made our anniversary dinner perfect and kept the whole group in great spirits all week. An inviting smile and laugh that you simply cannot help but be pulled into. My wife and I did not just fall in love with the island — we fell in love with the people who make it what it is. We will be back, and we will be telling everyone we know that Thatch Caye is an absolute must.

My partner and I decided to visit Thatch Caye for our one-year anniversary, and it did not disappoint!! Our stay was wonderful — from the food, staff, beach, activities, and drinks, everything was amazing!! Special shoutout to Urwin, Logan, Jessica, Dennis, and J.R. from the resort, who made our stay extra special!! We went on several excursions, including night snorkeling, scuba diving, and fly fishing. I highly recommend all three. The marine life was incredible, and the reef is spectacular. Shoutout to Lincoln and Allah for fly fishing. Darvin, Marlin, Marisha, and Gustavo made our snorkeling, scuba diving, and boat excursions wonderful. I can't say enough about the kindness of the team at Thatch Caye.
