The staff was phenomenal (except maybe manager who looked grumpy and didn't really greet anyone?) but special shout out to Junior, Dennis, and most especially Shakira who always saved a low table for me since my ankle is a bit off. The location was stunning, super quiet and if you wanted privacy, you had it! Though we were dubious of the family style dinner, it ended up being our favorite part! The food was like a magician was making it, and we were so impressed by each meal. There were rays, sea stars, sea fans, and nurse sharks right there by the island that you could see from the walk way or snorkeling, though the snorkeling was a little marred by the algae covering so much of the reef and rock area. The room was perfect, over the water, with a comfortable bed, lovely shower with hot water if you wanted, balcony with hammock, and the AC worked perfectly for afternoon naps. We saw so many stars at night, and the thunderstorms in the distance kept us entertained for hours into the evening. The pictures on the site are dated, and don't expect them to match. At a first blush, the place looks spectacular, but as you settle in and actually see details, it lands a little flat. The island is eroding in many areas, and the sargassum was overwhelming (completely overtaking the area under our bungalow and absolutely rank by day 3 in the sun, baking). The whole island seems tired. The ocean pool is not nearly as clear as pictures suggest, and the fence is no longer in existence, instead having been replaced by rocks, which are covered in algae. The wood is sun bleached to the point of splintering in spaces, the stairs to the bar in the lagoon had a soft spot that sagged under my steps and I lost my footing on, and the rooms had some bits and pieces that just hadn't been repaired like parts of the art frame having fallen off and the shower leaking. There are places where you can see the decorative parts of the fence around the bungalows are missing with screws just sticking out where the wood used to be affixed. It feels like repairs and investment in the gorgeous property has been neglected. This is not at all a dig at the staff-- they were absolute gems. Grounds workers constantly working, the tour guides (we had Darvin!) and massage therapists were absolutely top notch, and I've already said about the chef, bartender, and Shakira (Shakira is amazing!). This feels like an owner or management issue, and it's frankly a tragedy. Overall, for the price, it seemed a bit tired. Again, the service was completely amazing, but we wished the rest of the property reflected that amazing service.

It was an amazing trip and exactly what we were looking for. Jackson, Logan, Rafa the entire staff was amazing. We did the lobster hunt, snorkeling, and couples massage and each was a great experience. The island is small but packed with wonderful people and great times. I would highly recommend if you are looking for a quiet get away with great adventure.

Here was EPIC! The staff were nice and friendly, there was very turquoise and clear water. Mr Luis, Ms Shakira and the bartender were the best and we made some friends. Rooms were nice and food was very good! I will definitely come back :)

Our stay at Thatch Caye Resort for our honeymoon was absolutely incredible from beginning to end. The island is beautiful, peaceful, and the perfect place to disconnect and enjoy everything Belize has to offer. The staff truly made this trip unforgettable. Jackson, the resort manager, does an outstanding job ensuring every guest feels welcome and well taken care of. Jessica provided wonderful service during our meals, and Jr kept us supplied with great drinks while always making us feel at home. Marlin was an excellent boat captain, and our lobster hunting excursion with Ralphie was one of the highlights of our trip. It was such a unique and memorable experience! A special thank you to Logan, who went above and beyond throughout our stay. He was incredibly friendly, personable, and genuinely passionate about Belize. We especially enjoyed our conversations with him—he shared so much fascinating information about the country, its culture, and recommendations for things to do during our visit. His enthusiasm and hospitality made our experience even more meaningful. If you’re looking for a relaxing tropical getaway with breathtaking scenery, amazing excursions, and a team of people who truly care about their guests, Thatch Caye Resort is the perfect destination. We can’t recommend it highly enough and hope to return again someday!
