My husband and I spent the week at Thatch Caye with friends. It’s beautiful, quiet, remote, and well-cared for. Everything there exceeded our expectations, especially the staff! We felt welcomed instantly, greeted with a watermelon-rum delight and a eucalyptus-infused towel to refresh us from traveling. The food was so fresh and delicious, meeting everyone’s varied, dietary needs while bringing great flavors to every, mouth-watering bite! Jackson, the master of ceremonies, ensured that everyone was cared for and having a good time. I was so impressed and speechless when I asked if we could have a chocolate cake to celebrate my husband’s birthday and we were met with a special banner, music, staff singing and dancing in jubilant celebration, creating such a memorable night for us all! The cake was delicious with beautiful details. Logan, with his humor and thoughtfulness, Junior, with his unforgettable ability to make delicious drinks, making you feel seen with specialty touches like-fresh passion fruit, slivers of fresh ginger, and personalized drinks! We’ve been to many countries and various vacation spots/resorts but, nothing like Thatch Caye and it’s amazing staff, they’re tops!

**From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, everything about our stay at Thatch Caye was perfect.** We spent a week on the island for a yoga retreat, and I truly could not have imagined a better experience. Our trip started with Captain Hydo and First Mate Reginaldo, who made the boat rides to and from the island both hilarious and completely relaxing. Their skill and confidence on the water allowed us to immediately settle in and enjoy the experience knowing we were in safe hands. The moment you arrive at Thatch Caye, you’re greeted by the island’s two mascots, Pico and Marley. These two dogs are incredibly well-behaved and quickly became a highlight of our trip! But what really stood out was the staff. By our first breakfast, every single person seemed to know all 15 of our names. That level of personal attention continued throughout our entire stay. Jackson was our master coordinator and somehow made every detail look effortless. He handled all of the logistics for our excursions and went above and beyond to create special moments throughout our stay. From organizing a birthday celebration to making our joking requests for fresh coconuts and lobster ceviche on a private island actually happen, Jackson made everything possible. Jr. and Ervin kept the drinks flowing and were incredible at their craft. Give them an ingredient and they could turn it into something seriously delicious. They even created signature drinks named after members of our group — try the Ella’s Passion, Dina’s Delight, or the Slippery Susan! They also handled the music during happy hour, and they knew exactly how to keep the energy going. Sitting with a cold drink, watching the sunset behind the Mayan Mountains, and listening to old-school reggae was everything I didn’t know my soul needed. And then there was Chef Danny. Eating his food every day was an absolute honor. You could genuinely taste the love and care that went into every meal. He was also incredibly accommodating with dietary restrictions and preferences. I’m pescetarian, and we had several people in our group with celiac disease and Crohn’s, and not once did anyone feel left out or like they were receiving a lesser experience. Every meal felt thoughtful, special, and delicious. Logan was our main guy, and he seemed to appear exactly where you needed him before you even realized you needed something. He was incredibly charming, shared stories about growing up in Belize, and made us feel completely at home. He even joined us for karaoke when the rest of us were too shy to get up there ourselves! Our excursions were just as incredible. We visited Cockscomb Basin, where we learned about Belize’s incredible ecosystem and wildlife. We also visited a chocolate farm and got to see the process of making chocolate from seed to bar — and even make some by hand! We then visited a jaguar preserve and went tubing down a river while our guides, Denton and Manuel, taught us about the local flora and fauna. They finished the day by taking us to a local food stand for lunch and ordering an assortment of delicious dishes for us to try. If you like Mexican food, you’ll definitely appreciate Belizean food! We also went on a lobster hunt, which I was admittedly a little nervous about. I had never even been fishing before! Our guide, Rafi, made sure everyone felt comfortable and confident with the spear before we even got into the water. Somehow, our group managed to catch **12 lobsters**! Chef Danny then turned our catch into an incredible feast, making the whole experience even more memorable. Of course, the island itself is breathtaking. The crystal-clear water makes it possible to see fish, sharks, stingrays, and spotted eagle rays swimming right around the island. The accommodations are beautiful, and the sunrises and sunsets look like something out of a painting. But a year from now, when I think back on Thatch Caye, I know it won’t just be the beautiful water or the sunsets that I remember. **It will be the people.** Every member of the Thatch Caye team made us feel welcomed, cared for, and genuinely at home. Their warmth, humor, attention to detail, and pride in what they do transformed a beautiful vacation into an unforgettable experience. If you’re craving a true island escape, skip Cancun and go to Thatch Caye. I promise you will not be disappointed. Thank you to the entire Thatch Caye team for giving our group a week we will never forget!

My husband and I had the immense pleasure of staying here in August 2026. This truly felt like a dream paradise island. As the resort can accommodate 30 guests and we had 15 in our group (with 5-6 other guests on the island as it is slow season), it truly felt as if this was our own private escape (and it was also fun to welcome the other guests into the mix, such as during meals and karaoke). While the surroundings are so beautiful and well cared for, it truly was the INCREDIBLE STAFF who made our visit particularly pleasant and peaceful. Shout out to resort director Jackson for his professionalism, orientation to details, and congenial personality. Another shout out to servers Logan, Dennis, and Jessica for their care, friendliness, and helpfulness. Many thanks to the extremely talented Chef Danny for all of our absolutely delicious meals, beautifully crafted daily menus, and willingness to make various dietary accommodations throughout each day. Ralphie was our expert lobster diving guide, and he was so kind, helpful, and had a great sense of humor! Another shout out to the boat captains and crew, Reginaldo and Captain Hydo, who put us at ease during our rides to and from the island and to go off island for excursions. Last but certainly not least, huge shout out to island bartender Junior! Junior immediately put our group at ease, was friendly and attentive, and always creative with his expertly crafted cocktails. He truly made each sunset happy hour so much fun, and this was a highlight of our stay. Additionally, the staff actually learned EACH of our names, which truly lent a special personalized touch. The resort is so fortunate to have such a winning crew, and we were so sad not only to leave this beautiful island (all the kayaking, snorkeling, fishing, paddle boarding you could imagine), but to leave such a delightful team. Feeling immense gratitude for my unforgettable stay and HIGHLY recommend to others.
