We were at Crystal Mtn last weekend for a conference. Got home and realized husband forgot a book. I called, it had been found, and it was in our home mail 2 days later. Thanks, Ashley T and Crystal Mtn staff!

OMG, go here for a golf weekend. Betsie Valley Golf Course may sound pink and lacey, but it made me cry. Well, not really, but what a tough course. Impeccable course maintenance of both courses here. But beware...... the front desk staff may not be the sharpest crayons in the drawer. Checked me in and I only got one breakfast ticket. Upon discovery that I should have 2 tix, I returned to registration and was told I was wrong. I dialed up our group's organizer and put Shannon on the phone with him and presto, I got my second ticket. So, having not taken my word for it, having other registration employees state they had issued 2 breakfast tickets to others in our group, not until I put Shannon on the phone with a total unknown person (it could have been my 3rd cousin in Kentucky) was I given a ticket. Seriously, what is the internal cost of a breakfast here? Five dollars? Seven dollars? So, for $5 or $7 it's worth totally alienating a customer? Maybe next time, you just reach in the drawer and hand your customer a ticket, Shannon. Then, along with 3 others from the condo I was staying, we returned to the front desk because none of our keys were working. Again, we had Shannon. 4 guys getting keys replaced. Do you think it might have dawned on someone that maybe the door lock might be defective rather than ALL of our keys? Nope. We each got our keys replaced. Our group had a great time here. Accommodations were clean comfortable, just great. Golf was so enjoyable. But years down the road, my lingering memory of Crystal Mountain will be of that registration clerk who did not trust that what I was saying was true, instead gambling that her refusal to give me a $5-7 breakfast ticket would not result in a very negative memory of my stay here. Boy, did that strategy backfire.

We enjoyed our first stay at the Resort: the rooms are large and well kept (a little bit dated, but clean and comfortable). It was very nice to have a kitchen to eat some quick meals, since there really isn't much around outside the resort. The staff (especially at activities - special thanks to Rachel and Nate) were outstanding. They always made sure that everyone was enjoying themselves and had all the equipment, information on hand. Food was pretty good. Thistle and Pub was the best of all three options. The real disappointment is that the place is overcrowded. The outdoor pool was so overfilled, you could not swim or play comfortably. The lines for the Alpine Slide and Ropes Course could sometimes last for over an hour. The problem seems to be that in addition to the Resort guests, they sell individual ride/day passes to anyone visiting the mountain. This meant the lines would be ridiculous at times. It would seem as if they should do more crowd control of somehow help the Resort guests have better access without such long wait times and crowds.

I stay here every year. The last two summers they have had a huge construction project going on to increase hotel space and add a market. When it's finished it should be nice. This year the current general store inn property has far fewer items of merchandise than in years past. It was disappointing. We hiked the art park on property. A 1.5 miles loop. It is not at all wheelchair friendly. Young children, older adults and those with health concerns should know that in spots there are several very steep climbs that challenge a healthy adult. However the hike and art are very cool. I stayed in the Hamlet. Generally I like this better than the Crystal Colony. However my room is showing signs of aging- room 277- the wall paper in the bath is literally peeling off. In larger portions. I feel like the room is seldom used but since they are pretty full with conferences they had to use it. It is a great conference space. Large facilities and attentive staff. Ability to use chair lift and crystal coaster in the summer as a part of the conference package. Families love it. Great pool area and adventure course. Golf facility is top notch. Spa is excellent.

We stayed here for a week with our children, ages 9 and 14. It was the perfect launching off point to visit a number of Michigan attractions --- Sleeping Bear Dunes, Mackinac Island, Frankfort, Crystal Lake, Traverse City, etc. We also loved how much the property had to offer by just staying put ---- we enjoyed the pool (get there early to get a chair), rock climbing wall, ropes course, bike trails, the art park, alpine slide, basketball and ping pong, chairlifts, restaurants, and spa. Don't miss the art park --- it's a beautiful walk through the woods to admire a variety of sculpture. The grounds are beautiful and the care and attention paid to the surroundings is noticeable at every turn, even during their renovation. The flowers are beautiful and everywhere! The staff at the pool, adventure course, and front desk are friendly, accommodating, knowledgeable, and available. Special thanks to our server during a very busy breakfast at Wild Tomato who handled the crowds and their requests with a constant smile and genuine warmth. We stayed in a two-bedroom condo that was well-equipped for meal preparation. The back porch overlooking the trees and greens was a peaceful and wonderful place for morning coffee. We stopped in Cadillac to buy groceries (a great tip from the staff before we arrived) and also found that the on-site store was well stocked with a wide variety of items. Be sure to check out their selection of Moomer's ice cream for dessert. The only thing that needed attention was the condo's cleanliness. The daily cleaning covers the basics just fine, it's more of the deep clean that needs to be scheduled. There were a number of dead bugs on the window sills, spider webs and spiders taking up residence in the corners, some ants in the kitchen. I suspect during a busy summer season, these get overlooked. Overall, this was a fantastic experience for our family, we have highly recommended it to all who have asked about our trip upon our return, and we hope to be back next year, if not sooner.
