After having stayed at the Osaka New Otani, the Tokyo, Akasaka location felt more high end and upscale. From the moment you walk in, you can tell that this hotel is a near 5 star with its service, amenities and rooms. There are staff members everywhere awaiting to help you with any questions or concerns you may have. The rooms themselves are more modern-contemporary compared to the Osaka location, and felt really luxurious, spacious too depending on which one you book. We had a garden view room with an amazing view of the re-known garden and koi pond. Plus views of the park next door. The hotel takes care of everything you need for a Tokyo stay and adventure, including bus service to Narita right at the front, which was very convenient. Really enjoyed our stay here and will definitely return.

Like the great old hotels of NYC, the New Otani has stood the test of time a classic, spacious hotel with impeccable service. The numerous restaurants are all very good, and there is plenty of fashion shopping within the hotel. For me the highlight is the beautiful gardens covering interesting terrain and a large waterfall.

Our three night stay at the New Otani was all part of a cruise package. This hotel is very large....with the original main building and two other towers. We stayed in a double room in the main building with great views of the exquisite gardens. Many of the staff are in traditional dress and were very happy to help. The restaurants were good but very expensive however the Garden Lounge was great for a super buffet breakfast and it was made reasonable by getting a discount. The discount voucher was given at check in. The Garden Lounge was very popular so you needed to get to breakfast or an afternoon tea etc in good time although the queues went down quickly. Many of the tables have a fabulous view of the particular the Koi pond and the Japanese Garden Bridge. Lovely to stroll the gardens when you have over indulged in the food etc lol. The rooms were not a bad size for Japan and the bed very comfortable. The toilet in the bathroom took a while to get used to with water spraying in all sorts of ways etc and heat for the seat so much so I had to take a photo of it, at least the seat did not revolve and play music as one did in Belgium! There is an in-house food mart on one of the floors which was very useful and reasonable if you did not want a large meal. Also a good coffee shop next door to the Food Mart. Overall a really pleasant start to our trip and I would stay again in a heartbeat. PS I must add that this hotel is in a very convenient location.....not far from the Imperial Palace.

I stayed on a high floor in the Garden Tower (one of the hotel's 3 main buildings) which had a view of Tokyo that was nothing short of spectacular - easily equal to Tokyo Tower. The rooms were clean, with a comfortable bed and beautiful spacious bathroom. The location of the hotel is not great - being a good 15 minute walk from the closest metro station, JR station and a similar distance from convenience stores and restaurants. The hotel takes advantage of this by charging obscene prices at its restaurants and bars. Any of Tokyo's attractions require public transport to reach. The service was generally good, and they were happy to help when a neighbouring room was blaring their TV late at night. If you prefer to be close to transport and attractions, you might consider another place. But if you want a view, a high floor at Hotel New Otani is the right choice.

We visited Tokyo in October 2017 and were invited to dinner in the revolving restaurant. It had the most stunning views of the city. The food variety and quality was excellent! The service was great! I would highly recommend this restaurant. Afterwards, we walked through the beautiful Japanese gardens. It was a special highlight of our trip to Tokyo.
