The Tokyo Station Hotel operates in one of the world’s busiest railroad stations, but its grand hallways and rooms full of plush carpeting and chandeliers are rapturously silent. The hotel opened nearly a century ago and survived both the 1923 Great Kanto Earthquake and World War II, one of the few buildings from that time period that remains. Cathedral ceilings, crown molding and heavy silk draperies give rooms a regal feel, and bathrooms are the size of a small Tokyo apartment. If the Marunouchi business district isn’t large enough to contain your wanderings, you’re in a good place: Train travel is clearly convenient.

No complaints at all about this property. World class service in a historical building. Every amenity in the room one would expect from a luxury hotel.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights at the start of our Japan exploration. The hotel is meticulously maintained, very clean, luxurious and the staff are attentive and professional. The breakfast was exceptional, very calm and tasty. The room selection is important if you want to have external views and a bit of extra space. The sight of the crowds coming and going from Tokyo Station was a bit overwhelming at times. At a minimum I would recommend a Palace View room if you value natural light.

Nestled within the skyscraper surrounds of Tokyo, sits the truly beautiful Tokyo Station Hotel. From the moment you walk through the doors, you know this stay is going to be something special. Staff are impeccable: efficient, knowledgeable and friendly. Rooms are exquisite with refined decor, a truly spacious and inviting feel and really, you just want to spend as much time relaxing and enjoying the view as possible. The Lounge offers a wonderful range of light snacks and meals but it’s the sweet treats you want - sublime! A refreshing gin and tonic makes for a lovely afternoon in beautiful surrounds. The buffet breakfast was magnificent! Prawn, squid and fish dishes were on offer along with traditional breakfast fare. The mini hamburgers were a fun start to the day. Leave plenty of time for an indulgent meal. Real value for money and The Atrium is a beautifully light, airy space for the first meal of the day. The hotel is close to Daimaru department store and minutes to the Shinkansen and JR tracks. If you value privacy, elegance, efficiency, ambience, wonderful food and gorgeous rooms in your choice of hotel, look no further. I cannot recommend The Tokyo Station Hotel highly enough and hope to stay there again in the future.

I’ll start with the positives. It is absolutely a beautiful historic hotel. The rooms are wonderful. Not large by any means, but it is Tokyo. I will say that in other major cities around the world a hotel of this price range and reputation would still afford you a decent sized room. The breakfast as everyone has mentioned is fantastic and the service at breakfast is as good as you’ll ever get. My larger issue is with the overall cold field of the hotel and the staff in the lobby and then the lounge areas. As a diamond member, I was not recognized at all. And, they tried to charge me for my wife’s breakfast and I actually had to show them the Hilton benefits on my app in order for me to get the breakfast for two. It almost felt embarrassing to have to go through that in order to get something that should have been included to begin with. There’s no turn down service. Again, seems like that might be petty, but and a hotel of this stature that is something that would almost be expected. Also, there’s no doorman. I know that seems like that might be minor but if you stay here, you’ll see that of all of the hotels you could ever imagine the need for a hotel doorman, it would be the one located at Tokyo Station. The bar and lounge area in the lobby on the first floor gets very crowded and there is a line in the afternoon for you to be able to go. And, lastly, the gym is quite small and there is an attendant that follows you around and if you don’t do something correctly or put something back correctly, it is, though he is almost correcting you. Now, you might say that all of these things would not warrant a three star review but when you consider this is a several thousand dollar a night hotel, you may want to look at some of the other options in the area. I stayed everything from courtyard Marriott to Rich Carlton’s around the world and then basing this review on the price point and what the expectation should be at this hotel. Hope it helps.

We only stayed one night (unplanned layover) but it was exactly the soft-landing we needed after a delayed overnight flight and missing our connection. The staff was all-pro, so kind, and spoke excellent English. The room (standard king/queen) was luxurious and elegant, though a little small if we were to be staying more than one night. Great room amenities, and the perfect half bottle of white rhone in the mini-fridge. The hotel entrance was a little hard to find coming from the depths of Tokyo Station, even though it's right there. (My navigation app did not work in any of the train stations in Japan, so a general recommendation is to at least attempt to plan your station exit ahead of time.) Overall a very ritzy experience and I absolutely recommend this hotel if your budget allows.
