Torgiano is a tiny little town. This hotel is a lovely base for your explorations of the area. We were here for two nights, as part of our Tauck tour. It is owned by the Lungarotti family; they also own vineyards. We had a large, comfortable room. They grounds, indoor and outdoor pools, and spa are beautiful. We ate in the restaurant both nights; some of the food was delicious, and some was so-so. Service was good and the presentation was dramatic (whipping covers off the main course). We attended a fun cooking class; also a wine tasting.

Our initial impressions were so good that we opted to stay two nights instead of one in this quiet hotel and village. At no time were we disappointed with this decision. Our Junior suite was very comfortable and had attractive decor with good quality furnishings. The service in both the restaurant and hotel itself was impeccable. I had a minor problem with the t.v and airconditioning and it was rectified immediately. Good English is spoken and this ensures there are no misunderstandings. We ate once in the excellent restaurant and twice in the Wine Bar. Each of the meals reached a high standard. We particularly enjoyed the ambience of the Wine Bar and on each occasion received good advice about the appropriate wine to match with our menu choices. There are very good public lounge areas with music playing discreetly in the background. Visits to a wine museum and to an olive and oil museum should definitely be part of any stay.Their displays are extremely informative and very professionally done. For English speakers, audio guides are available and many of the panels also feature English. The only downside and it is minor: unfortunately a mosquito must have entered the room when I opened windows during the day and I was bitten one night. My advice would be to rely on the airconditioning.

Torgiano is a small sleepy village in Umbria, a short drive from Perugia. The hotel is a rabbit-warren of rooms, stairs, corridors (one of which goes under the road), and if mobility is an issue, you need to check this out carefully before coming here. We had an excellent room, with a balcony overlooking the hills. Good bathroom too. Limited TV coverage. Staff seem a little thin on the ground, but are all very friendly and laid-back. The pool area is very pleasant, with just enough old-fashioned iron loungers, and, with one of the staff on duty, a 1 towel per person policy, which isn't enough. You can have a limited lunch by the pool, but it's very hot down there, and eating in their very pleasant wine bar was our preferred option. There are very few options for eating out in Torgiano, fortunately, the hotel restaurant is excellent - there's a very good chef at work here - the wine list is great, with some unbelievably cheap bottles available. There really should be mosquito screens on the bedroom doors, to enable sleep without A/C. Wi-Fi is OK, but they have a silly system of username/password tickets that only work for 1 device, and have to be renewed (ask for one that lasts the whole of your stay). Breakfast is OK. The hotel is ideally suited to visit surrounding towns, parking is easy and free. Highly recommended.
