Reviews for Trump International Hotel & Tower Toronto

Good in parts

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

A lovely hotel in a great position, a comfortable well appointed room and some terrific staff. The initial greeting to our late (22:30) arrival was rather cursory, the young man clearly wanted to be elsewhere. We missed the rest and so ordered room service. It was a very poor meal, floppy cardboard like flatbread , cold fires and an apple crumble so overcooked as to render the “crumble” inedible, it was all in one piece and as hard as a board. Breakfast in the restaurant was similarly disappointing, and expensI’ve. In fairness when I later pointed this out to Meryem Benmoumen she reacted immediately and positively, refunding the cost of the food and apologising profusely. Aside from this, the bellman was terrific, and the coffee bar downstairs was excellent with great service and good food.

Not a 100% up to the St Regis I am used to.

Very nice property and well appointed room. I enjoyed how quiet the room was for a city hotel. Butler service was not at par with other St Regis hotels - and the restaurant not as flexible as other properties when it came to accommodating my wishes, some of which are food allergies. Front desk was super friendly.

5-Star in making !

If you’re the kind of traveler who enjoys logging service failures as part of the “luxury experience,” then this hotel may be just the place for you. Over the course of our stay, we encountered more than seven separate issues. Yes, seven. And while every problem was eventually resolved, it felt less like staying at a 5-star hotel and more like participating in a customer service training simulation — where we were the unwilling test subjects. Now, to be clear, I’m not new to luxury travel. I’m a Lifetime Platinum Elite member with Marriott — and over the last 11 years, I’ve spent more nights at Marriott properties than in my own home. So when I say this experience was below standard, I’m not basing that on unrealistic expectations — I’m comparing it to hundreds of other Marriott stays around the world. The staff, while polite, lacked that elite-tier training and intuitive service you expect from a property claiming 5-star status. It’s not about remembering your name or offering a welcome drink — it’s about anticipating guest needs before they’re even voiced. Especially when guests are paying $700+ a night, the experience should feel seamless, warm, and effortless — like coming home to somewhere better than home. Instead, what we got was a steady diet of “No,” “Sorry,” and “Let me ask my manager,” delivered with the enthusiasm of someone working the night shift at a 24-hour pharmacy. We requested to speak with the General Manager — multiple times — and were continually sent lower-level staff who seemed more focused on appearing helpful than actually solving anything. It was a masterclass in the art of polite deflection. To be fair, the suites themselves are exceptional — beautifully designed, comfortable, and clearly a lot of thought went into the physical product. Unfortunately, all of that is undermined when the service feels inconsistent, reactive, and — frankly — unworthy of the Marriott name, let alone the 5-star category. Luxury isn’t just about the decor or the square footage — it’s about how a hotel makes you feel. And when you’re paying top-tier rates, you shouldn’t have to work this hard to feel heard, respected, or accommodated. In short, this property has the bones of a great hotel, but not the heart — at least not yet. Until the service culture catches up with the branding and pricing, this place will continue to disappoint even the most loyal Marriott guests.

Had a wonderful stay here this past weekend! Got a Deluxe Suite, 1 King Bedroom, City View but was upgraded to a Deluxe Corner Suite! Loved the suite—living room, bedroom and bathroom were super spacious, and there’s also a half bathroom in the living room area. Bed was comfy. Bathroom had heated floors, it was amazing. My only complaint for the bathroom was the toilet room didn’t have a door and it was located on the opposite side of the bathroom to the shower. Service here is EXCELLENT. All the staff were kind and helpful. Also, we did room service twice and the food was overall good—note: they do automatically charge delivery fee, a 18% service charge and the food prices are more expensive compared to room service during the day. Valet was great—70 CAD/day and we got to have our car parked in the front, making it easy to come & go without having to wait for valet to get our car.

Beautiful hotel but poor treatment, forced to move rooms at 11pm due to staff

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Very frustrating stay. Traveled with my husband and 2 kids to celebrate their birthdays. Had booked room with two queens and used points. At check in they offered an upgrade to a suite for an additional charge of $150 and said if we got the suite with a king bed, they would supply the roll away beds at no charge for my kids. Before leaving for dinner we requested the beds be set up while we were gone. When we arrived back and seen only one bed set up, we called down and said we had two kids and needed another ( like we were told at check in we could get ). After multiple calls back and forth, they told us at 10:30pm we weren’t allowed to have a second bed for our child due to fire hazards and that the solution would be to move rooms to a 2 bedroom suite for an additional $1000 a night. I said I wasn’t paying more to move rooms and upgrade again. Her next solution to me was that someone could sleep on the couch- not a pullout sofa. A basic couch! This was infuriating, my kids over tired , and I would have never agreed to upgrade to this suite knowing it didn’t accommodate our family. At check in, we were all standing there and the man was aware we needed two beds for the kids. It was unreal to us they wouldn’t just move us to a room that could accommodate us at this point without paying more, since we paid the upgrade fee once and now it was very late and offensive the front desk told us someone can sleep on the couch. This is not a 5 star hotel to suggest something like that. Very upset with the staff to suggest this and put us through this. The front desk girl claimed she called the manager on duty and that was their solution. Very remorseful we wasted our points/ free night with this aggravation and will never be back after this treatment and managers not doing anything to help. This was the fault of the man who checked us in and offered the upgrade king room, with pullout beds to accommodate the kids. Clearly he wasn’t informed that the room was only allowed to have one. So at 11pm we had to pack up and switch rooms with our kids and go back to our original booked two double bed room. Ruined our whole experience, and so sad our night ended poorly due to staff incompetence and not being accommodating after their mistake. Disappointing!
