From the moment you arrive at the marina, a 20-minute boat ride from neighboring Tortola Island, it’s clear Peter Island Resort & Spa is no typical beach holiday. Guests have access to the entire 1,800-acre island, of which only 300 acres are developed. Hike through untouched forests or take to the sea with a chartered boat. Beachfront suites and spectacular hillside villas provide access to secluded stretches of sand that were once home to the Caribbean's most colorful characters, from Christopher Columbus to the pirate Blackbeard.

Restaurant was excellent! The food was well prepared and the mixed drinks were delicious.

We had an amazing experience during our five night stay at Peter Island. We intended on staying at another BVI property for 10 days but left there disappointed and were so pleased with our decision. We were in a junior suite (104) at the far end of the beach and loved the location for its privacy and beautiful views. The room was spacious and comfortable with an outdoor seating area which was perfect for morning coffee and evening cocktails. An excellent breakfast was included in the rate and we took advantage of both restaurants during our stay.

My wife and I stayed at Peter Island a couple times prior to Hurricane Irma and then again just recently as they reopened. The new Peter Island has several pros and cons. Pros: - The island is still remote and pretty peaceful. - The new accomodations are quite nice. - Beds were comfortable - A/C cooled well (see cons below) - The staff are all exceptionally friendly! - Ferry shuttle service from Tortola is nice and efficient Cons: - The beachfront junior suite has 1 thermostat that controls 2 A/C units, one in the main room and a second unit in the bathroom. The problem with this is that when the temperature in the main room is comfortable it is rather cold in the bathroom. We had to turn the A/C off completely when we showered. Not the end of the world but a bit of a nuisance. - The main beach is still pretty but it is eveident it still has a bit of a seaweed problem. Barriers out in the water run across the length of the beach which are not attractive but I am sure help the situation. - My biggest issue is that there is no beach bar on the main beach (Deadmans). The only beach service is right in front of the pool and Drake's restaurant. There is also no outside bar at Drake's so if you are on the beach anywhere else you have to walk to the pool area and hope you can flag someone down to order a drink. I think this is a major problem, especially when you are paying premium rates to stay here. - When you want to order a golf cart pickup, room service or anything else you dial "0" but numerous times we did and found no one answering. - We were told beach towels would be placed in our room each day but we received none. This entailed us having to walk the entire length of the beach each morning to get towels located near the pool. - Beach lounge chairs were comfortable but they are extremely heavy so moving them to get shade was difficult at best. - A minor detail but bath towels are small and not good.

If you have access to a water taxi, make the trip over to Peter Island for a meal, it’s absolutely worth it. Management has done an incredible job bringing this place back to life. The food was outstanding, which honestly surprised me since finding truly good food in the BVI can be a bit of a treasure hunt. Even the drinks were thoughtfully crafted, which shows real attention to detail and management that genuinely cares. Just the par levels were off because often they were out of items, which seems to happen only in BVI lol. After experiencing some pretty disappointing meals elsewhere in the BVI, it was refreshing to find a place that takes such pride in what they serve.

If I could give them 10 stars I would....we just returned from Spring Break at Peter Island with another family. The resort is AMAZING- beautiful, clean, relaxing, spacious. The pictures don't even do it justice. The service was a 10/10. Everyone operates on island time in the BVIs, but they went above and beyond to make all of our wishes a reality. They even offered to set up a TV in the conference center for my husband to watch March Madness. Everyone on the island knows each other and works together to make your experience enjoyable. Vera, Chanel, Mama Jean, Stacy, Rock, Ron, Ramon....they were all wonderful! Our experience at the spa was second to none. The massage I had was among the top 5 massages in my 45 years. I really cannot say enough good things about this magical place. We don't often return to resorts, but this one will be on repeat for years to come.

We went to Peter Island Resort & Spa in January - it was one of the best places we have ever stayed! Great service, food, facilities, and amenities!
