Savoia Excelsior Palace

For a business trip I stayed at Savoia in Triest. Warm welcome and as my room was not ready at noon I even got an upgrade to a sesview room. The beds and pillows are really heavenly. Shower with rainshower perfect. Breakfast is really good with a great variety and the atmosphere is really elegant. Valet parking always works well, so really highly recommended.

A perfectly nice hotel filled with slightly snooty people. No complaints, really, but the level of real hospitality was kind of low. The staff did nothing wrong and said all the right things but the overall experience was lacking. As to the room, the bathtub was really great. But also dangerous for older people with a slippery floor and nothing to grab. Toilet behind the door was a little odd, too. As always, a lack of power outlets near the bed - you can choose whether to plug in a cpap machine or your phone, but never both at the same time. Our view from the second floor front was okay. It is on a very busy and noisy street but the room stayed very quiet. Air quality in the room was so-so - you can't get fresh air because of the street noise you'd get along with it.

Tired hotel. Location is dreadful. Across the street from cruise ship docks. Constant loud cruise ship announcements and hordes of people. Paltry breakfast. Mass tourism clients. Service is non existent to hostile, from concierge, to reception and housekeeping. Presidential suite with stained carpet. Had to complain about housekeeping. No turn down. Restaurant for dinner is elegant and superb.

This hotel started well, but ultimately disappointed us. The location is great, the public areas are nicely elegant, but the room was in bad need of a refresh - badly stained carpets, wonky toilet, etc. The bar area looked great, but it was woefully understaffed - just a bartender trying to keep a dozen tables happy. Breakfast was uninspired, generally flavorless, and the coffee was terrible. And then, the hotel ceased all food and beverage service for some undisclosed reason (probably embarrassing) and we had to go to surrounding cafés and then be reimbursed. All in all, pretty off putting - I doubt we would stay there again

The hotel is perfectly located on the waterfront within walking distance of the cruise port and restaurants and shopping. The hotel is elegant, the staff amazing, they do not know the word "no". Very accommodating and helpful, front desk, housekeeping and bar all excellent. Wonderful hotel.
