Reviews for Loews Ventana Canyon Resort

YES!!! We will be back.

Peaceful. Relaxing. Wonderful. We didn't leave the resort. We totally R&R'ed the whole time. Our mountain view room and balcony was so peaceful to enjoy our in-room morning coffee. The complementary Koi food was a fun part of each day. The on --property walk to the waterfall was a nice highlight. It is so nice to see employees who are happy to be doing their jobs and taking care of the guests. We LOVE it here and are already planning our next visit.

Very good but could be awesome.

The resort is about half hour drive from the airport through the city but the streets of Tucson are very spacious so it’s a nice drive and you get to see some of the city. Once you reach the foothills and begin your drive up to the resort you really get the feeling that you’re going someplace very special. It is very picturesque. Once we arrived we pulled right up front where there was someone to offer assistance and valet parking if you desire. We opted to self park to avoid waiting for our car when we needed it and we traveled very light for a 4 night stay. The reception was very professional and courteous. Prior to arrival we opted to upgrade to a Grand Queen which gave us a stunning view of the mountains, the water fall, the pool and the courtyard from our balcony. Absolutely stunning view. The resort itself is a work architectural genius. It’s an oasis in a desert mountain. It blends in with the surrounding desert so well. It’s as off it has always been there. An absolute oasis! The housekeeping of our room was very good. The only advise I would give is to do deeper cleaning inside of the toilets because from the shower looking back at the toilet where the water starts to disappear down the hole looks quite disgusting. You can only notice it when you’re in the bathtub. Also having one sliding door on the bathtub made no sense to me but the floor never got wet while showering. The tub surround is very high and not designed for people with physical challenges or bad knees but the tub itself is quite large. The pool was spacious and Laz the pool concierge was always made sure that everyone was comfortable and had what they needed. He is a shining star of the resort. Also the other pool servers took really good care of my family. The housekeeping staff wasn’t as warm and entreating as you would be accustomed to if you were staying in the Caribbean but they were cordial. A smile and a warm greeting to your guest goes a long way and means a lot. It the very thing that keeps us going back to other resorts. The time we were there there was also obviously two large groups there as well. One group had a 3 day wedding event going on. It got quite loud at times because of it but the celebrations were well organized and didn’t go on late night. But, if this is a norm for the resort I can see how it can turn some people off expecting a quiet peaceful stay. I found the wedding and all of its colors and celebrations quite extraordinary! I’ve never seen anything like it before, it was quite phenomenal even though I thought it was taking away from the peace and quiet we envisioned. The food was just ok and what we enjoyed the best was sitting at the pool most of the day. The resort is very multi generational in guest so everyone would feel comfortable staying here. Some advertisements said that it has two pools but we only found one. They have a little spa pool and jacuzzi pool at the main pool but I don’t know if that’s what they’re calling two pools. There are some picturesque hiking trails all around the resort and It’s only a short easy walk to the waterfall. The resort also has an observation tower to view sunrises and sunsets. Just Take the elevator to the 4th floor. Town is only a short drive away. Heading toward Kolb Rd into town is shorter than heading toward Craycroft Rd. Depending on where you’re going into town of course. The resort has a large feel to it the way it’s laid out. I thought that it was quite a long walk from the restaurant and pool to our room. If you are traveling with kids be sure to bring them to the children’s museum. Our grand daughter enjoyed it. Overall it was a good stay but nothing wow’d us enough to not want to try someplace different next time. I went to check out a 4am and no one was at the front desk and once security located her she said that I would be emailed a receipt that I’m still waiting for and she didn’t offer me a warm farewell thanking me for choosing Lowe’s Ventana Canyon Resort. Although this was a good stay it really didn’t meet our exceptions of serenity and hospitality outside of the pool area. Off season would probably be a more serene time to stay here. Wedding groups, business groups and large family groups just made this week to busy and choked the serenity out of the setting for us. Tucson is one of our favorite cities. So give other places a shot and if we discover Lowe’s to be the best we’ll be back at a slower time of year.

Excellent Resort in Foothills of Tucson

My family and I went for a short vacation to the Loews Ventana Canyon resort, booking two Ventana Patio Rooms, in April 2024. I went to the UofA for college, and always wanted to venture out and stay at the Loews. We called the day after we booked and asked them to link our reservations so we could be near each other. They placed us next door to each other with great views of the city lights outside on our patio, and desert/mountain views outside our room door. Check-in was easy and the staff was warm and welcoming. They were busy at check-in but had 4 people working at the front desk. Parking was a bit tough at times near the Flying V restaurant but we did always find a space, even if we had to walk a little bit. Our rooms were very nice, the beds and furniture extremely comfortable. Personally, I do not like outside hallways, but opening up the door to the desert and mountain view was really nice, it beats staying in an interior hallway room. There was some noise from the hallway when someone was rolling a cart by, but otherwise was quiet. My room sheer curtain had a hole ripped in it, which you would think that housekeeping would notice and they would have changed, but it had not been. The TV and technology could use updating. There are no streaming capabilities and the TV does not have a lot of channels. The remote also took some time to register working with the TV. We had one problem in the rooms - my mother couldn't get her leg out of the shower because the edge to the tub/shower combo is so high. We stopped by the front desk and asked if there was an accessible room available just a shower but as there was a conference there was nothing available for our stay. The front desk clerk seemed cold and dismissive of our problem and offered a shower chair but that wouldn't help if she can't get in or out. The bathrooms really need to be redesigned and upgraded in the hotel as the tub in any of the rooms seems very excessive, especially without provided bubbles or salt. When staying at a hotel of this caliber, a washcloth bath during your stay shouldn't be an answer. The food and servers in the bar and breakfast restaurant were outstanding. We were served promptly even though they were busy. The breakfast was very filling and delicious, but pricey (as is with any resort). After eating there one morning, we went down the street to Bisbee Breakfast Club instead, and it is just as good with more food for a better price! We had drinks and dessert in the lobby bar twice and the drinks were well mixed/poured, even a little strong. The desserts were delicious and also big portions. We never ate at the Flying V or pool restaurant, opting to drive to try more local restaurants. The location of the hotel has many restaurants and shops within an easy drive (or short walk if the weather is good) from the resort. We opted to stay here over the other resorts in the area as it is a bit more secluded while still being able to get into town for places like the Pima Air and Space Museum or the DeGrazia museum. Check-out was easy and they gave us a warm farewell. We were very happy with our choice of the Loews Ventana Canyon and would highly recommend it to anyone for a relaxing visit to Tucson.

Lost jewelery from the room

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

my room number was 2110. After checked in as soon as I went in the room I hand all my clothes on the hangers and i felt that my gown was wet from the bottom. There was lot water on the floor in the closet. I had to call them to clean that. Aparantely they for got to dry the closet floor. Than at night the wall frame fall.I was still OK. I lay out all my imitation jewelery by the coffee maker area. on the 2nd of march I wanted to wear one fo my imitation bracelet but i couldn't find it. I thought maybe i still have it in my luggage somewhere but I didn't find it. After I came home I checked everything but i did not find that bracelet, so I called the hotel and i explained everything. They said they opened a case and someone will contact me. i received a letter from Liberty Mutual and when I called them they said i should have put that in locker. Apparently they can't do anything because i had a safe in the room. I mean the braclet gone missing from my room while i was staying there. I wouldn't suggest anyone to stay. Not a friendly staff either.

Six stars?

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

Can I give them a sixth star? We spent a week at this resort, a few days before and after a business meeting. The resort is calming, with a layout very conducive to relaxation and enjoying the desert mountains. The staff is what is leading me to want to give a sixth star if it were possible. Every person we encountered was smiling and genuine. They were attentive without being intrusive, and anticipated our needs. I would highly recommend this Loews.
