Trump Turnberry, a Luxury Collection Resort, Scotland in Turnberry, Scotland

Steeped in tradition and stretched across a proper waterfront estate of 800 acres, Trump Turnberry, a Luxury Collection Resort in the Ayrshire countryside is the quintessential Scotland retreat. Part of the esteemed Luxury Collection, this renowned mecca is best known for its pair of championship golf courses, one of which hosted the 2009 British Open. Enjoy being lulled to sleep by the quiet of the countryside, all within the confines of a stunning 1906 Edwardian-style hotel. After a recent renovation, Trump Turnberry Resort has been reborn with spirit and grace. Each guest room is filled with classic Scottish décor and traditional furnishings. Some offer views of the solitary lighthouse, while others gaze across the rugged sea or stunning landscape. Freestanding lodges are crowned with crimson roofs and add a homey touch for those enjoying an extended stay or traveling with a group.

When you gaze out over the Irish Sea and its countless islands, it is no surprise to discover that some of the world's finest seafood is available here. Consider the elegant 1906, the resort's signature restaurant, or the more casual Duel in the Sun, which pays homage to golf pros Watson and Nicklaus. Traditional Scottish pastimes, such as clay shooting, archery, and rifle shooting, bring the Turnberry Resort experience full circle. Ride on horseback across the verdant surrounding landscapes, or join locals at the nearby Tam O'Shanter pub for a pint of lager and a serving of history. Trump Turnberry Resort in Scotland is yours to imagine.

Fabulous hotel, fabulous rooms, fabulous service. You can go here to relax in luxury, play golf, make a long walk along the beach, enjoy the sea, relax in the spa, but be aware that this hotel is in the middle of nowhere.

Spa treatment, swim, sauna, steam room - a birthday treat from my daughter - thoroughly enjoyable, and then the icing on the cake was afternoon tea in a beautiful lounge. We chose from a selection of teas then tucked into a selection of delicious sandwiches, cakes and scones -top marks to the chefs for making it all vegan. It was a treat I will always remember!

Went for a winter break on Sat18th. On arrival told that we could not have dinner in the restaurant as it was full. After escalating complaints, the manager eventually agreed to accommodate us at 6.30. Arrived to find restaurant empty and it did not fill up till around 8.30 to 9. Ambience was poor. Meal was average with compulsory 3 course set menu. Over priced in relation to quality. Our side orders arrived 5minutes after our main courses had been delivered. On second evening we went to the clubhouse restaurant which promoted top quality steaks. We had different cuts but both were poor, lacking flavour with my wife’s being very grisly. Heated towel rail in bathroom was not fully functional despite engineers visit. Room was excellent as were breakfasts. On final morning we were cornered by waitress and restaurant manager who demanded to know what our complaint was on the Sunday evening. We explained we were in clubhouse restaurant when they realised it was a case of mistaken identity. Apology ensued but to be challenged within earshot of other guests was not good. On returning home I sent an official complaint but have heard nothing!! Definitely not a top class experience.
