Visited grand lounge Turnberry for afternoon tea for my mums 80th birthday. Initially we were given table which seemed to be in line with main entrance door, which caused a cool wind to blow in, which made us feel cold and uncomfortable When a table became available at the window I asked if we could move there, which the staff member agreed. This was a huge difference, it was so much brighter and the view was stunning. We were then asked which speaking wine.. rose was chosen by my mum and then staff returned to advise there was none left! For a 5 star ..running out of this seemed a bit odd! Afternoon tea stand including sandwiches cakes with pots of tea arrived. Poured tea to find it was cold! So had to go to the young lady serving to report this and she immediately gave us fresh hot tea. Scones were also delivered separately and my mum's plate had been written in chocolate with happy 80th birthday. Really nice touch by chef. Although a few issues my mum and I really enjoyed our special celebration of her birthday afternoon tea at Turnberry. Venue was beautiful, food very good, staff very nice, friendly and helpful. If you can reserve a table at the window this makes a big difference. Would certainly recommend a visit to Turnberry.

Outrageous to categorize the room I had as Deluxe Ocean View. I had one tiny window through which to see the water if I was standing up immediately in front of the desk. Nothing close to the images on the hotel's website used to lure you into paying for the upgrade. Otherwise, probably would have given hotel 4 stars - new and comfortable, but a little too glitzy for my taste and the region.

One thing is for sure the Trump Turnberry looks a very impressive hotel on arrival. The hotel overlooks the equally impressive golf course. We booked two deluxe rooms for 2 nights at a cost of nearly £2000 - so not cheap. The staff were pleasant on arrival and we were swiftly seen by reception who politely told us our rooms were not ready (to be fair we arrived early). We trotted off to the club house for some lunch. The views across the '18th Tee on Robert the Bruce' course were magnificent it has to be said.. the food however was average. We ordered burgers which were topped with 'rarebit' - which looked more like a block of plasticine. Not the best. After lunch we went to our room. Hoping for a decent room with a nice view, and let's face it the views are fantastic in Turnberry, we were bitterly disappointed. We opened the blinds to see ...a white wall !! £500 a night to see a white wall .. The room was ok, the furniture was ornate with lots of gold not to my taste however, the bathroom was large with a huge shower and free.standing bath. It was comfortable. The staff were pleasant. Food in the 1906 restaurant was good. Breakfast was excellent. Views were fabulous. Golf was excellent. So why not great.. a hotel of this quality in my opinion should not be putting paying customers into a room with no view at all. This I would expect of a premier inn not a 5* resort. Shame.

If I wasn't so excited about the rest of my trip, I may have actually invested in staying here for a whole week, or longer, I was taken completely after I'd had the chance to step inside and see a grand tea lounge with the most fantastic view in the world of the wonderful seas and Scottish islands around the sea, private check in and guidance to our room. The family room was one massive room with the most colossal 72 inch television with what looked like ultra hd television, a Holden trimmed bed frame with a tartan curtain at the front of the bed with the most comfortable linen around, and then a small room with 2 single beds. I would definitely recommend this room to all 2 adult and 2 children families out there with a family package usually priced at £589 or night. The hotel was a palace in itself beautifully in proximity to the Alisa golf course, the food in the restaurants in 1906 especially offering fantastic meats and a luxurious sunset worth time lapsing.

This place was awesome. Every aspect of the stay was first rate. The room was lovely, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The beds were perfect and the bathroom was luxurious. Food from four different parts of the property was all exceptional. The beverages from every possible outlet were outstanding as well. Staff was friendly and helpful at every turn. I can not say enough good things about this property and would recommend it to anyone. I can't imaging a single thing to complain about at this beautiful place!
