The Oberoi, Mauritius

Heaven on earth…. Having traveled almost all my life I have been 3 times to this most incredible Hotel, The grounds, rooms, restaurants, spa. pools are exceptional. The staff without exception are kind, generous and professional. The Hotel are very lucky to have these wonderful people. I was very sad to leave and cannot wait to return xxx

Our stay at The Oberoi Beach Resort Mauritius was amazing and fully deserving of five stars. The staff were incredibly warm, attentive, and thoughtful throughout our stay. They followed all the preferences we had shared in advance, and everything was handled with genuine care and precision. It made us feel very well looked after. The resort itself is beautifully designed and wonderfully quiet. This is a place for relaxation rather than entertainment, making it ideal for guests looking to unwind in a calm, uncrowded environment. The grounds are stunning — lush gardens, perfectly maintained greenery, and carefully placed architectural details and stone sculptures throughout. Every area was spotless and visually impressive, clearly reflecting the effort and dedication of the staff. We also appreciated the small touches that elevated the experience, such as the complimentary afternoon ice cream served on the beach — a simple but delightful surprise. The dining experience was great overall. Breakfast offered a wide variety of high-quality options. For dinner, we enjoyed the restaurant “On the Rocks.” Our stay was particularly special as we were celebrating my birthday. The team went above and beyond to make it unforgettable: the room was decorated with balloons, we received a complimentary chocolate cake, and the staff warmly congratulated me during breakfast. We stayed at Pavilion with Ocean View, it was spacious, comfortable, and very well maintained. We also visited the spa several times and found it to be very rejuvenating. As for activities, there are a number of complimentary options available. One small suggestion would be to offer certain experiences, such as stargazing, more frequently than once a week, as we had a shorter stay and could not try it. Regarding snorkeling, it was easy to access directly from the beach, with some fish to see. The Oberoi also offers a boat few times per day that can take you to a snorkeling spot, although visibility and variety were somewhat limited during our stay. Overall, this resort delivers a refined, peaceful, and personalized experience. We left feeling relaxed, well cared for, and already thinking about returning.

We enjoyed our stay here. The staff are fantastic and the food at dinner is top quality. We had a garden room and the bed was massive and the room had everything you needed. We found the resort to be very quiet, there was not real music or atmosphere at the pool or beach. The beach was much smaller than we thought and worth noting you can’t really swim out far because of the coral - it’s also not the turquoise blue you might be expecting. Because if it’s proximity to Port Louis, the view is a little spoilt by container ships, but it’s still beautiful. Location is great for sunset - we had some crackers. Alcohol is expensive but I think that’s generally the case on the island. There is just one bar and two restaurants. It’s a great place if you want to relax and disconnect. We found it lacking a bit of vibe for us and were a bit let down by the beach. We are a same sex couple and found the resort to be extremely inclusive - we were made to feel incredibly welcome.

It’s a beautiful hotel, with many kids activities, skiing, wakeboard and a lot of things more.
