The Oberoi, Mauritius

Where to start - we had the most fabulous 2 week holiday at the Oberoi Mauritius. The villas are set in beautiful, subtropical gardens which are beautifully tended and full of interesting birds. The grounds are so extensive that you feel they are your own garden and the villas placed in such a way that there is a real feeling of privacy. The villas are luxurious - large with huge four poster bed, sitting area, "dressing" room and fab bathroom with sunken bath and large shower. You have your own terrace with sun loungers and eating area with views over the ocean. There are two lovely pools overlooking the tranquil beaches. If you're lounging on the beach or by the pool, you get a tray with iced water, tropical fruit, iced flannels - such a nice touch. Food at all the restaurants is really good - and a great introduction to Mauritian food - mixture of Indian, Creole and French. The service is second to none - it would be wrong to single out any one member of staff - everyone was friendly, helpful, professional without making you feel awkward - in fact they all made you feel special. The holiday was to celebrate a big birthday and my retirement - I couldn't have wished for a better way to celebrate - thank you so much

Amazing luxury resort. It is hard to find better service at any hotel! Everyone is so friendly and flexible. Stayed in luxury pavillon with Ocean View. It was very spacious, clean and wonderful view. Can highly recommend the resort. Our driver Rai needs a speciel shout out. You made our experiences very special. Thank you so much. We would love to come back soon.

Everything was good except for being handed our room on the second day at 14.45 after numerous frantic calls to the reception with a kid asleep in my hands

The hotel made our 55th anniversary a memorable one. Everything is top class including Location, entire spread of the property, food, services, staff politeness, dedication,politeness and eagerness to make the stay much more enjoyable, housekeeping.

The Perfect Proposal Experience — 36 Hours of Romantic Magic I organised a surprise proposal for my now-fiancée at The Oberoi Beach Resort in Mauritius, and I genuinely could not have chosen a more perfect setting. We stayed for one night, but the team managed to turn those 36 hours into one of the most unforgettable and romantic experiences of our lives. Everything was planned and executed with incredible care, precision and attention to detail. The proposal itself took place during a beautiful private picnic on the beach, complete with champagne, a charcuterie board and a photographer. Afterwards, we had a photoshoot around the hotel grounds, which are absolutely stunning and offer endless romantic backdrops. When we returned from dinner later that evening, our room had been transformed. The team had left thoughtful and sentimental gifts for us and prepared a warm rose-petal bubble bath. Somehow, they timed it perfectly so that it was ready and waiting the moment we arrived back. I still do not know how they managed to coordinate everything so seamlessly, but they absolutely nailed every detail. The following morning, we enjoyed a fantastic breakfast before relaxing by the pool and on the beach. The hotel is beautifully secluded, quiet, calm and tranquil, making it ideal for couples looking for privacy and a genuinely romantic escape. We also enjoyed a couples’ spa package, which was exceptional. Our massages took place in a private, open-air treatment room with its own Jacuzzi and steam room reserved entirely for us. It felt incredibly intimate, peaceful and luxurious. A huge and very special thank you must go to Natacha, who helped organise everything from beginning to end. She managed to keep the entire proposal a complete surprise while ensuring that every operational detail ran perfectly smoothly. She was discreet, professional, attentive and completely on top of everything. I truly believe she was the reason the entire experience felt so effortless and so beautifully executed. The Oberoi gave us 36 hours of absolute romantic magic. It was a flawless experience from start to finish, and we would return without hesitation. For anyone planning a proposal, engagement celebration, honeymoon or romantic getaway in Mauritius, I cannot recommend The Oberoi highly enough. A genuine 10/10.
