The Oberoi, Mauritius

I almost didn’t notice we’d reached our room. I was so busy talking to the team and taking in the views as we walked that the check-in just… happened, all of it done quietly inside our room. No desk, no queue, or waiting around. There are many serene dining options. The restaurant with live grills (operates only thrice) is a must. The food is delicate, flavourful and has authenticity in both local and international cuisine. Chef Singh and Chef Swaraj and made us experience local Mauritian and authentic French delicacies. They do a Mauritian Chilli paste (if you love delicate spice, it’s a must try) we tried it once, and fell i love and they made sure we got it with each of our meals. They even have their own herb garden( the herb trail) , and have a roasting pit, and conduct dining experiences alongside. Dining venues here do not have doors or walls. You sit surrounded by nature, with the sound of the ocean and the cleanest breeze. A beautiful rare bird will fly past often during the morning breakfast or casually sit next to your table for a few seconds. At most hotels we end up ordering room service. Here we’d actually wait so we could eat outside. You can’t put a price on that experience. There are corners of this property that feel like a scene from an adventure film, including a tall waterfall tucked behind the trees with rocks scattered in the middle. Surreal is the only word. You’ll hear the waterfall casually walking in the hotel, from your room to the gym spa (which is so well equipped, dis not miss my workout for even a day ) The sunsets are stunning, and you can sip the hotel’s own infused rum cocktails while you watch, which was a first for us. And then the moonlight on the sea at night, perfect for photos or just to sit and stare. The hotel sits on a reef, so we went snorkelling right off the beach. We’re not strong swimmers, so we stuck to the marked shallow area, and even there the coral was maybe 15 metres away with fish everywhere. I ended up spending hours in the water over the week. It’s amazing how effortlessly the place lets you get close to all of it. It’s unforgettable. We stayed 8 nights, and honestly, do the same if you can. There wasn’t one dull moment. Wine and rum tastings, stargazing, painting and local art, cooking classes with a master chef, water sports straight off the beach. The biggest highlight was spotting whales out in the deep sea, leaving from and coming back to the hotel beach. So seamless. And even the water sports team gave us a feeling of complete safety. Our experience honestly is credited to the people of this hotel, who everyday exceed our expectations and consistently raised the bar. Absolute credit to the General Manager Aditya Pandey, and the delightful Natacha, who gave us some of the best travel suggestions. The service is unparalleled, Shaan, treated us to local mauritian delights which we were earlier weary of and made us try different specialities throughout our Trip. Aditya, Naveen, Danav, Vasudha were fantastic as part of the service team. Nitisha and Parita from housekeeping team created nice surprises in the room( their towel art is superlative!), lead by their Manager Savio who ensured we were very comfortable in our room, and made special arrangement for my wife’s birthday. Writing this made us relive all the moments do travel here if you wish to build memories for a life time. We can’t wait to go back.

Got personalised services at each step from our arrival to the hotel up to our departure from the hotel. Ideal location for leisure or business as the hotel offers all premium facilities for both purposes. Congratulations to the managers of the hotel for maintaining a standard that exceled and met our requirements beyond expectations....

We have just returned from an amazing time. The hotel and staff were exceptional. They even assisted my husband in organising for us to renew our wedding vows without me knowing, a truly wonderful and memorable holiday!!

I don’t know where to start in praising this outstanding hotel. The location is right on the shore with glorious views of the bay. There are 2 principal restaurants. ‘On the Rocks’ is an outside dining experience next to the Indian Ocean. Although the menu has many choices, seafood here is their stand out fare. The main dining room is under cover with a vast menu. Indian Food is a particularly welcome feature, although there are also other choices from around the world. The “Gun Powder Room” is a once a week communal dining experience serving Creole food in a historic old armaments building adjacent to the main restaurant. Bookings are required 24 hours in advance. Rooms are luxurious. We had a Pavilion with ocean view. Beds are comfortable. We slept so well. The staff always go the extra mile. In particular Siddharth who served us around the Turtle Bay Adult only pool. Others of note were the managers Natacha and Shaan, and other colleagues such as Milan, Alum and Chris. If you’re looking for an escape to the Indian Ocean with great food and service from wonderful people, look no further. We were very sad to leave and look forward to returning again one day.

Warm welcome by Sneha & GM and excellent service at the restaurants by Mr Shaan, Aditya & Chetanya. Food was too good!!! Overall, everything was made easy and pleasant for us. Looking forward for another stay.
