WOW WOW WOW. Never in my life have I had a better hotel/resort experience, I wish I could offer critical feedback on how they could improve but well, I don't know how you could get more perfect, I mean that seriously. My wife and I visited for 4 nights to end off our honeymoon, yes the hotel was not cheap, but it was certainly worth every rupee. The room was magnificent, a 15'+ ceiling, sitting area, 4 post bed, TV on swirl stand with netflix, walk in closet w/safe, and a bathroom that belongs in a millionaires mansion with built in soaker tub and seperate shower that overlooks a private small garden so you don't feel cramped (the bathroom is about ~125 sq ft so its not cramped, but you know this place just likes to take luxury to the next level). The food was very delectable with a wide array of options and a menu that clearly noted allergen/food preferences (kosher, hallal, vegan/veg, etc..), and a chef who would make you anything should you find nothing to appease you. We ate a lot of Mauritian/Indian style foods because well, when in Mauritius right? And the breakfast buffet has wide selection of fresh fruit, yogurts, high end dried fruit and nuts (pine nuts, cashews) 3 types of honey, fresh squeezed OJ and Grapefruit juice. And each day while by the ocean they would bring fresh fruit and some days ice cream at no charge, because they are awesome like that. They have 3 restaurants and an expansive in room dining menu. And then of course the staff. I wish I was a better writer because no matter how hard I try I will certainly not due them the justice they deserve. Each night we would return to our room to find they had left something special, a bottle of wine with couch pillows saying "Mr,, Mrs, and Happily Ever After", or some sweets with a hand written note - in white chocolate. One night we returned to find a bubble bath with rose petals. I would highly highly highly recommend this hotel, and from what I have learned the Oberoi chain to any couple seeking the luxury and service that will most certainly exceed even the most discerning persons expectations. Thank you again for making our honeymoon such a memorable experience, I do know when my travels will take me back to Mauritius but I do know that when they do, the Oberoi will be the place for me. Oh and make sure you eat the chocolate croissants at the breakfast buffet, (they have hot items too that can be custom tailored to your preference) but wow, they are worth the calories

From our welcome to the very end of our stay all of the team at the Oberoi Mauritius worked to make sure we had a relaxing holiday when we wanted it, and arranged activities when we wanted to go out. The room and facilities within were just as good as you would expect in a special place. There are said to be 35 chefs (roughly one to two rooms) and the food was excellent with Chef Igor taking the time to talk to us to ensure all was well and going the extra mile to make sure the food was as expected. The Spa was comprehensive and just as attentive with facilities to complement our stay. Pools were superb with many water sports included and all the team were so helpful. The grounds upkeep was impressive with daily work carried out to maintain the standard. The waiting staff, with whom we had a great deal of contact, were fun, attentive and caring of their job and us. We took a helicopter tour of the island arranged by the hotel and we received recommendation of where to go on the tour. Various activities are on offer - two walks, Star Gazing (very informative), high quality musical entertainment over dining and trip to Hindu temple to mention but some. There was a welcome event to the hotel which we missed because we had a trip arranged. Mauritius is a superb place for a holiday and the Oberoi a superb location to spend our holiday. Weather was superb - we had some rain but it didn't last long and we hardly noticed it. Outside the hotel locals were friendly and welcoming. If we had to put into order what we liked the best it was the people, least was having to come home.

Amazing Hotel, beautifully laid out as thatched rooms/villas all on one level and set out in lovely well kept gardens. Rooms are nice size and well kept, and sunken bath with private outside bathroom garden is a nice touch. Quiet AC! Netflix and DVDs available if you like that kind of stuff, and library in the reception area. Brilliant Service all round, very friendly and attentive. Tipping not allowed which is unusual. Small beach and rocky but there are 2 good pools and long beach walks. Spa provides only massage and there are no other spa facilities which was a bit disappointing. Gym and other daily activities. Super food particularly in the evening main restaurant, and Igor (Head Chef) is very hands on and helpful. Disappointing Japanese night but he was made aware of the issues. Drinks are expensive but that kind of hotel. Bar very quiet in the evening with hit and miss entertainment. Isolated position and Port Louis is about 30 mins. by taxi. Amazing holiday.
