The Oberoi, Mauritius in Turtle Bay, Mauritius

Isolated from the world, a serene gem in the Indian Ocean, the verdant island of Mauritius invites you to escape and unwind in the lap of luxury at The Oberoi Mauritius. Along 600 meters of crystalline oceanfront, with a blend of European, African and Asian style, guest villas at this exquisite hotel are a perfect fusion of beach bungalow and stylish modernity. Comfortable and plush, each room has a breezy tropical atmosphere, with sunken baths overlooking open-air gardens, and an abundance of warm light. Breathe in the fresh air as you recline in your gazebo, or splash in your private pool, all the while enjoying the incredible surroundings. As you gaze out over the ocean from underneath your thatched roof, take in the sweeping mountains in the distance, and sink into the blissful ambiance of The Oberoi Mauritius.

Walk right down to the beach and dive into the warm island waters, or go windsurfing, water skiing and sailing under the magnificent tropical sun. Visit the village of Chamarel on the southwestern side of the island and see the Seven Colored Earth" - a place where volcanic sediment cooled at different temperatures creates a stunning rainbow of colored rock and sand. Be sure to take in Chamarel Falls, dropping 100 meters from the Saint Denis River into a lush gorge. Hike over 60 kilometers of forest trails in Black River Gorges National Park, and be amazed by the fascinating rare birds and plant life. Climb high into the mountains of Savanne, 1800 feet above sea level, and visit the temple of Lord Shiva at the sacred Ganga Talao Lake. Enjoy a fantastic day of canyonning around seven different waterfalls, and adventure out by rappelling through the falls, diving into clear pools, and sliding down natural rock formations. For a day of leisure, golf at numerous courses around the island, relax on a yacht cruise along the shores, or pamper yourself at The Oberoi Spa. As the sun sets over the island, sit down at The Restaurant and dine on continental, Oriental and Creole cuisine, then enjoy a perfectly mixed cocktail at the bar as the stars shine over The Oberoi Mauritius.

Amazing hotel that I can't fault in any way. Everything was perfect from the moment I arrived. Room was extremely spacious with the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. I love my coffee so the Nespresso machine was much appreciated. Wifi is complimentary and free Netflix is available via the TV. Service at the beach area was fantastic. Complimentary bottled water, cold towels and fruit skewers all delivers to my sun lounger. Food in all restaurants was incredible, especially the Creole menu in the Gunpowder Room. Spa was out of this world and my massage on my first day got rid of any lingering jet lag. My only regret is that my stay was only for three nights

We went there for our fourth anniversary. It was a wow dinner. We first had a drink at the most beautiful bar. Service was superb and music was wow. There was a man playing some live music-Wednesday 18th October- Then we proceeded to dinner table. The wonderful staff at the restaurant made the evening super special. Our food was so so yummy and made with the best of ingredients. A surprise cake arrived in the end and this was so so great. It made the night super special. Thank you so much to Oomar,Aadi and the restaurant manager on that day for a perfect exquisite service. A big thank you to Mr Sonah too. To all the Team at Oberoi and all the chefs and sous chefs who are behind the scenes-thank you for being just the best.

Highly recommended! Check in was smooth and effortless, over a refreshing drink in a pavilion with a lovely view. Room was lovely, with a nice private terrace — and I particularly liked the inside/outside feel to the bathroom with its glass wall onto a private garden area (nice, vast bath too). The service was impeccable and staff could not have been nicer or more professional. I felt welcomed at every turn. Both restaurants were excellent, although I preferred the main restaurant. Bar at sunset was a lovely place for aperitif. I liked that it was possible to have the breakfast / dinner included in my half-board plan in my room if I wished (and room service food was very good). Two lovely pools, and a number of secluded or less secluded (depending on tastes).
