A Five‑Star Hotel That Delivers a Three‑Star Experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

Our stay at this hotel, advertised as a five‑star property, fell far short of that standard. From the moment we arrived, the experience was disappointing. Transportation to the hotel—only available through their own service—was delayed by more than 30 minutes despite being pre‑arranged, even though the boat ride itself takes only about ten minutes. The hotel building does not feel luxurious, and the amenities are well below what one would expect from a true five‑star resort. The gym is narrow and undersized, the spa has broken equipment and resembles a low‑end salon, and the pool area offers very limited clean seating—only the covered loungers were usable. Rooms priced higher for their balconies are also misrepresented. Our balcony was so dirty that we could not step outside without tracking dust and bird droppings back into the room. We have stayed in other hotels in areas with pigeons, and those balconies were cleaned daily. This one clearly had not been cleaned in a long time. The dining area felt more like a budget buffet restaurant, even when ordering à la carte. The atmosphere lacked any sense of elegance or refinement. Staff were generally fine, but nowhere near the level of service we’ve experienced at other Leela properties in India, and certainly not comparable to nearby Oberoi or Taj hotels.
