Sacred House in Urgup, Turkey

Lose yourself in the mystical beauty of Cappadocia, and find serenity in the ancient comforts of Sacred House. Built into the caves of eastern Anatolia, in the center of Turkey, this 250 year old Greek mansion welcomes you with a charm all its own. Twelve different suites offer fabulously unique décor, from the bright, warm Cycladic style of the Fullmoon Suite to the dark chic of Anka's Lair. Soak in a deep whirlpool tub surrounded by the playful mysticism of Deep Forest, and stretch out next to the fireplace in the vibrantly regal Bacchus Hideout. With stunning middle-age art, antique handcrafted furniture, and the marvelous fashion.

Begin your day with a delicious breakfast, then step out into the sun in the brilliant courtyard before venturing out for the day. In this picturesque land of sweeping valleys, grandiose mountains, and otherworldly spires you can spend days exploring in fascination and wonder. Take a tour of Red Valley and Ihlara Canyon and see villages carved into the volcanic rock, built up in the sweeping meringue-like spires, and deep underground. Gaze over the stunning rock formations of Soganli Valley then take a tour of the marvelous underground cities of Kaymakli, Tatlarin, and Deinkuyu, built to protect the original settlers from the might of Rome. Wander through the Goreme Open Air Museum where more than 30 churches and chapels, beginning in the 10th century and adorned with ancient frescoes, were carved from the rock. In the afternoon mountain bike or ride horseback through the valleys, then take in the view from high above on a magical sunset hot air balloon ride. After a day spent exploring the ancient lands of Anatolia, return to Sacred House for a delightful medieval dinner featuring Mediterranean and Armenian cuisine before retiring to the deep comforts of your room.

We stayed at Sacred House for almost a week in their Bacchus room and we loved every single moment. The room was spacy and comfy and the bathroom (tub) was really cool. The whole hotel has this positive and happy energy and it's filled with artefacts from the 10th century onward. The library is full of first edition books where you are free to read and just touch- which was super cool. They have Dante's Inferno and a lot of William Blake's. Back to the hotel though- the staff is exceptional. We especially want to mention Fatma Hanim, who was the most gracious host. The breakfast is quite good and the chef accommodated us with our odd requests so our experience was very customized. The hotel pet- a lovely golden retriever called Mystique- is the cutest little dog who follows guests around for food (but she's on a special diet now :). We stopped by the hotel to celebrate my birthday week and both the hotel and the staff made it an unforgettable 29th birthday for me. Me and my boyfriend loved every moment. Lastly, the spa is AMAZING. Go, relax, have a good time. Reccommended 5/5.

Sacred House is amazing---over the top in every way--but it works. The staff can't do enough for you, they are truly kind hearted people. The food was fantastic. The rooms are ornate, full of original art, beautiful carpets, the bathrooms are huge and unusual, the beds are super comfortable. We were there in June and my only complaint is no air conditioning---we are spoiled Americans. There was a heatwave across the continent and we had trouble sleeping in the heat. They were able to put a fan in one room, and it was a big help, but for this reason, I will stay again in other seasons, but not summer. I travel the world and Sacred House is just a fantastic experience and I look forward to staying there again.

This hotel is a magical place and offers a truly one of a kind experience . Indulge in the art and culture with extravagant luxury , high-end service and warm atmosphere . Every little corner and details is built with exceptional knowledge of history , art and human spirit . I was mesmerized by the Love , Perfection and Elegance which created this true Gift . Its a great place to get away from the world and travel back in ancient time without a TV . You could fully relax your body and mind listening the soft divine sacred music, watch the burning fire place, explore the mysterious spa and traditional hammam , enjoy the superb dining or just watch the bright stars on your terrace guarded by Angels . The most important in this extraordinary experience that in few days you will feel like at home , like you truly a part of this magical palace. The hotel staff is not only committed with exceptional hospitality and interpersonal skills but they have a most rare human quality these days to serve your needs with a true kind heart for which i am mostly grateful. Dear Traveler ,Heaven is here on Earth, you just have to visit it !! The place deserve a 7 stars . I traveled have of the world for business and pleasures but this small house is stole my Heart . I hope to visit return many times . P.s. The pictures with sister added.

This hotel is out of this world. The rooms are magnificent, tasteful, extravagant, spacious, comfortable and sexy. The pool is outrageous! It's below ground and simply gorgeous. The staff is very friendly and attentive without overdoing it. The breakfast room is the best place to start your day, full of light and delicious tastes - particularly love the indoor garden room (again wow). This hotel is gorgeous and just right , a perfect balance of discreet and attentive, of elegance and extravagance, of sexiness and cosiness, of high-end/luxurious but also casual and low key. Definitely a MUST- if not for a stay then for a drink, a spa or for a meal. Ideal for romantic getaways or for those who want to stay in a place that it's truly extraordinary and offers a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
