This hotel is owned by a couple. Unfortunately the storm Nate hit this hotel in October in his full power. That‘s the reason why currently not every accomondation is ready to book. Our origin room was one of the damaged, but generosly the owners upgraded us to the treetop villa. So luckelywise we had the opportunity to enjoy und explore this wunderful and very unique hotel. To be honest, the way to get there is not that easy. You need a 4x4 wheel drive to get there. But believe me, the view from the reception to the whale tail is worth the road. The hotel offers you a full range of all ameneties you can imagine. Our villa was built directly in the forest. On our balcony was a jacuzzi with a perfect view over the whale tail. The hotel is surrounded by thousand of trees and a lot of animals who are living there. You can do a hike and explore them. The hotel offers you a swimming pool with a hot pot, a restaurant, a bar and a spa. They help you in arrange any activities you like. What we can recommend for every couple - and we booked it - is the romance package. The package includes a bottle of champagne, a massage for two with a body and facial treatment, a private dinner on your balcony and a cooking class with the chef cook where you learn a bit more about the Costa Rica food. It is really fun. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We would like to highlight the included breakfast. You can choose your dishes from a menu. The plates of the breakfast dishes look amazing and the quality is excellent. We can recommend this hotel to everyone who is looking for a highly privacy and a special experience. To be honest it is not cheap, but for a special occasion defintely worth the money. Thanks for having us.

Our group of five headed to Rancho Pacifico expecting a blend of adventure, luxury, romance, and relaxation (two couples and my 25 year old daughter). RP satisfied in every way. The adventure begins just getting up the mountain road to the resort -- it requires a powerful 4 wheel drive and a good pilot! The staff is warm, engaging and friendly. The chefs are remarkable, preparing inventive meals with local ingredients (and they came up with a spectacular Thanksgiving dinner, too! We were there at the end of the rainy season -- suggest fast drying, comfortable, casual clothes. The new owners have even more ambitious plans -- but you will love Rancho Pacifico as it is. We did! My husband and I decided to celebrate our November birthdays in Costa Rica this year. Instead of a large all-inclusive, we wanted to try a small luxury resort that was off the beaten path. We found exactly what we were looking for in Rancho Pacifico. Far away from anything else and surrounded by mountains and the rainforest, this truly is a uniquely breathtaking place to experience. We stayed in treehouse villa that had awe-inspiring ocean and mountain views from the huge deck surrounded by wildlife. Besides the comfy bed, my favourite part of the room was the indoor/outdoor shower complete with great water pressure! What makes the resort special are the exceptionally kind staff members who go well above and beyond to ensure you have the best time possible at the resort and offsite as well. The concierges arranged day trips for us to go ziplining, on a fantastic mangrove tour and to visit the picturesque Whales Tail beach, which you can see from the resort. The meals were not only visual works of art, but some of the very best we've ever eaten -- and I'm a somewhat picky vegetarian! Although we arrived back from day trips a couple of times after lunch had officially ended, the chef very kindly accommodated us. On my birthday, I was surprised with a gorgeous flower arrangement (thank you, Anna!), a delicious cake and a lovely rendition of happy birthday. On my husband's birthday, we were treated to wine on the house. One of the highlights of our trip was meeting and getting to know Mark and Marlo, the new owners of the resort. They are both extremely warm and friendly and made us feel at home right away. After mentioning that we had heard, but could not see, a waterfall on their property, they offered to take us on a hike to it. Although the climb down and up was challenging at times (you need to use ropes for part of it), seeing the beautiful waterfall was well worth the fun adventure. Our week-long stay at Rancho Pacifico was an amazing experience that we’ll never forget.

We fell in love with Rancho Pacifico when we visited it last year for our honeymoon, so much so that we decided to return for our anniversary. The experience this time was even more amazing. Whe have stayed at some of the nicest hotels throughout the world, but the total experience at Rancho Pacifico is incomparable. It is a luxury hotel in one of the most beautiful settings in the world. No attention to detail is spared. From the concierge to the maids to the maintenance staff. The new owners have really elevated the experience by themsleves staying in the rooms to make sure they observe every detail from the eyes of a guest (to the extent that when we had an early mornning excursion, and had to leave before breakfast, they delivered to our room a premade breakfast the night before so we can have that before leaving - a truly considerate touch). The hotel as a limited number of rooms and is literally in the jungle on top of a mountain (a four wheel drive vehicle is essential if driving). The rroms are clean and comofrtable and the services are excellent (laundry was picked up and done promptly).Rancho Pacifico offers all the beauty of Costa Rica: Wildlife that can be observed from the rooms (we woke up one morning to see from our bed a toucan perched in the tree outside the room), to the ocean 20 minutes away and which can be observed from the hotel (the Whale's Tail is a very unique environmental phenomenon). Other tours and attractions are a short distance from the hotel, and the staff will make arrangements that fit your needs. But you dont have to leave the mountian to observe nature - there are hikes that can be made from the hotel where one can observe a diversity of flaura, fauna, waterfalls, and so forth. Then at night, the jungle comes to life! Monkeys and frogs can be heard all around. This is a truly unique experienc for anyone seeking to experience the nature in Costa Rica with an elegant touch and gracious hosts. We are currently planning our next trip (we may not want to wait for our anniversary).
