Reviews for The Sebastian, Vail

Beautiful place. Poor communication.

We arrived for our honeymoon on Friday the 26th of April. When I booked the hotel online I paid a deposit, in case something happened to where we would not be able to go. Upon check in, I told the gentlemen that I would be paying cash for the balance and would be happy to pay right then. He said that was unnecessary and that he would just need a credit card for the 150$ incidentals. Completely fine and normal as I’ve stayed in hundreds of hotels. I told him that it would be a debit card and he said that is ok. Sunday morning I woke up to $1230 charge. I walked to the front desk to ask about it as I was not told that would be happening. The lady was nice but I left more confused than when I walked up. She said it was just a hold and would be back in my account 3-5 days after checkout. She also stated “we have people leave and not pay”. This put me in a bit of a situation as I had the money in my bank account to use for food and goods on the trip and brought the cash for the room. In my opinion this is completely unacceptable to charge that to a card without notifying the customer first. Especially when I offered to pay upon check in. I have never had this happen at any hotel. Also to note, as we were checking out on Tuesday we were talking to the gentlemen at the counter about where we should go for coffee as it is off season and the place we had been going to was closed. He told a few places to try. As we walked outside toward the bus stop he ran out after us and informed us we had $100 dollar food credit and that the hotel restaurant was open for breakfast. This had not been mentioned to us at all prior to this, which is very disappointing as we would have eaten there every morning. As far as the hotel stay goes - very very lovely place. Clean room and enjoyable walking around. Due to communication issues, I will not be returning.

A memorable experience for our family

The staff were beyond professional, friendly, compassionate and knowledgeable. Sebastian is the only place to stay in Vail Valley if you want a 4 diamond experience. Super clean rooms along with wonderful amenities. Pool, hot tubs, exercise fitness center, bar, restaurant, and spa were all extraordinary. We will keep vacationing at this 4 Diamond resort.

Wonderful stay

First time to stay at The Sebastian and loved the location and access to amenities offered. I especially appreciate how clean the staff maintains everything. I constantly saw someone cleaning when I was out and about in the main area and in the hallways to the room. I appreciated having a mini-fridge in the room and having in-room water provided especially with Colorado being so dry! I also enjoyed having access to the espresso maker in the lobby to concoct various coffee drinks as well as the sparkling water station. The wi-fi signal is strong for those who need to work and there is also the library off the lobby to provide and additional quiet work area. Being steps from the bus stop out the back door is fantastic and Vail village is quite lovely to explore. Our room faced I-70 so there was a bit of noise when we opened the door otherwise it wasn't too bad. In case anyone is wondering, yes you have a fridge and nespresso machine in your room, however, no microwave.

awful stay; no valet help; expect to carry your own skis

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

This is the second year I stayed at The Sebastian. The first time I had a great stay. The second time - in March of 2024 - boy, has this hotel gone down hill. For example, both when I came - and when I left - I got NO help with my ski bags (and I was alone with 2 kids). Upon entering the hotel, the car service warned me that the valets were lazy. Indeed, it took a full 40 minutes for my bags to appear in my room. Then when I was leaving - even worse. After 30 minutes of waiting for the valet to come to my room, I went down to the front desk/valets for help but was told "they were busy." Finally, as I was going to miss my flight, I took my family's ski bags down alone to the car (with the help of my 2 small kids). This is exactly the type of (nonexistent) help you can expect from The Sebastian. Other things: the room service is BEYOND awful. Not as in.. oh, it is room service, expect the basics. I mean, inedible. And beyond expensive. I could go on and on, but The Sebastian is awful. Don't stay here. Oh, I contacted the management and they didn't even care to follow up. That shows you what type of hotel this place has become.

I stayed here earlier this year—awesome location, great staff and my room rocked! Check out the outstanding food here too and then walk to everything. Great spa on site—enjoy!
