Great Hotel, Staff Have Terrible Attitudes

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

The hotel was lovely and the rooms were quite nice. The bed was comfortable and the room amenities were upscale. The hotel is about a mile away from Lionshead Village but they have a shuttle that will take you to both villages, or you can walk and it is a spectacular walk along the river. The hotel is nice overall and their Japanese fusion was outstanding, one of my favorite restaurants of our trip. They have activities available such as s’mores in the evening or yoga in the morning. The big downside of this hotel, and a reason why I would not stay here again is that a majority of the staff are rude and some are even quite condescending. I’m usually not one to complain about this type of thing, and I thought maybe some of the others that had made this same complaint were exaggerating, but unfortunately, they were not. I tried to be extra kind but most of the front desk staff and restaurant staff were rude. Out of everyone we met, there were three people that were nice, two bellman/valet, and a bus driver. One waiter started off rude and was very condescending about what my daughter and I ordered but over our stay, he actually became much more nicer. I think it was a culture and language barrier. I may or may not come back to this hotel in the future. I think I would try another hotel first, just to avoid the staff. Otherwise, hands down, I would choose this hotel.

Grand stay with minor hiccups

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

We spent a week at the Grand Hyatt Vail, overall, it did make for a memorable getaway. This place has come with its major pros and some minor cons, based on which I've awarded it 4 stars. What we loved: - Our room was remarkably stunning. We stayed in a deluxe king suite, and boy, it was fantastic. The bathroom exclaimed luxury with a sprawling free-standing tub, giving it a rather regal touch. - The bed in our room deserves a special shoutout. It was quite possibly one of the most comfortable ones I've ever had the pleasure of sleeping on. - The hotel's staff deserves a pat on the back. They are prompt and will gladly bring you anything you need right to your room. - Another major perk, especially for ski enthusiasts, was the ski lift right within the hotel premises. This made our ski adventures a lot more convenient. Areas for Improvement: - At times, it seemed like the staff and housekeeping were a bit overwhelmed. It's understandable considering the size of the hotel, but I feel this aspect could be managed better. - The hotel advertises a private SUV shuttle which unfortunately wasn't running during our stay. On inquiring, we were told that they were short-staffed to drive the shuttle, quite disappointing because the Grand Hyatt is not close to Vail's shops or restaurants. - Also, Venture sports running the ski valet wasn't quite a pleasing experience. Barring their unorganized process which lead to our boots being lost for about 30 minutes, the place was constantly bustling with chaos. Lastly, for a property of this level, it was annoying to find that one out of two hot tubs were not functioning and the pool heater was broken. Thankfully the 1 functioning hot tub was big enough to fit about 20 people. In sum, despite a couple of minor hitches, we had a lovely stay at the Grand Hyatt Vail, thanks to its nice rooms and easy access lift. It has room for improvement for sure, but it still makes for a pretty awesome choice when in Vail.

Great Skiing

Overall great property. Great ski in and out. Friendly team members. Ski valet was excellent. Location perfect and a great weekend. Granola bars for the slopes very expensive, but everything in Vail is very expensive.

customer service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Horrible customer service. Food and Drink lacked the quality it once had. Overpriced parking charges. The vibe of Vail Colorado in this hotel was not the same as it has been in our previous reunions. We were so disappointed. Sleep quality, location and rooms were good but did not make up for poor customer service.

Excellent

Highly recommend, excellent service, over all hotel, food, deluxe rooms with creek mountain view are gorgeous and quiet. 5 min van ride to both Vail village and Lionshead village. It runs every 10/15 min. Needs better coffee and they have no Coke products. Since are fam stayed a 8 days we bought and had delivered. The concierge Danielle was very helpful and friendly. We highly recommend Grand Hyatt Vail.

My wife and I just returned from a five-night stay at the Vail Cascade Resort & Spa. The accommodations were fantastic! With the hotel's spa, ski shops, ski lift, movie theater, and convenient shuttle bus, the trip was incredible! We will be back...with friends!
