About the Hotel

Old Town Valencia is just a 10-minute walk from Hospes Palau de la Mar, but chances are you’ll get distracted along the way. The hotel occupies prime real estate amid the boutiques of Sorní and Cirilo Amarós Streets, and the City of Arts and Sciences lies on the other side of Valencia’s favorite public garden. Inside, Palau de la Mar cultivates a Zen-like atmosphere with dark wood plank floors and stark white bathrooms (some have a freestanding tub under a skylight). The lush central courtyard houses a bar that specializes in wines from the area’s renowned vineyards.

Mixed Experience in a Prime Location

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Our two-night stay at this hotel had its ups and downs. The location was undeniably great, and the front desk staff were friendly and accommodating. We made a specific request for a quiet room, and although we were assured that it would be, unfortunately, it ended up being near a service room, resulting in some noise disturbances from service vehicles. On a brighter note, the beds were comfortable, and the room itself was pleasant with a nice overall decor. We particularly enjoyed the breakfast, which offered a satisfying start to our days. However, our experience took a turn for the worse at the lounge/cafe. The service was excruciatingly slow, and the quality of the food left much to be desired. This was disappointing considering the positive aspects of our stay. Additionally, finding the entrance to the hotel with our car proved to be a bit of a challenge, even with navigation assistance. In summary, while there were aspects of our stay that we appreciated, such as the location and comfortable accommodations, the issues with noise and disappointing dining experience tempered our overall satisfaction. Despite this, the value for the price paid was reasonable.

A Very Good Boutique Hotel

A very good boutique hotel within easy walking distance of City Central. Our modern room on the first floor overlooking the internal garden was very comfortable, parking was taken care of by hotel staff in the secure underground hotel car park and all the staff were most helpful. We also enjoyed a very good dinner in their Restaurante Ampar on our first evening there.

A very pleasant stay. Great location, close to Turia Gardens & the old town. Friendly & helpful staff. They printed out our boarding passes & kept our luggage secure & safe on our last day until we transferred to the airport later in the day. Would recommend this hotel.

A little Hectic

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Beautiful Hotel where you walk into a splendid lobby. I must say the staff here works very hard, not necessarily doing their best because they seem shortstaffed. They seemed a bit stressed.. the room that are simple and clean. The spa set up is kind of strange because you have to reserve an hour and it’s down in the basement. I received a facial that was horrible. They gave me a small discount and I got an infection. Breakfast was absolutely nuts! When I arrived, they weren’t ready setting up and people are popping in there as soon as they could there’s only two people and the barista was trying to make coffee for everyone just very hectic. The management needs to refine and properly staff this property.

Even at 64 I make huge mistakes

I can now write a review, after checking out without being harassed by an angry GM. This hotel has 2 positives, very friendly staff and great room cleaning. BUT, the 5 stars on the wall are a joke. This is an overpriced, under maintained facility. With ridiculous prices. If the GM and the owners have any self respect left, they should return me half of what I spent but I do not keep my hopes up. The courtyard “ rooms” are a covered camping. The floor broken, the tables and chairs shabby. The breakfast food edible. Just. The carpets on the 4 floors, a design of marks and spots. The bar is a drink corner, not a bar. The very nice, hardworking trainees on the verge of abused as cheap labour. Roomservice, expensive and for the most part not suitable for human consumption. The junior suite, we stayed in, only worth the name because of the room size. Noisy for outside and inside noise, outdated and old furniture, worth 120 to 140 Euro a night. Not the 400+ rack rate or the 300 I paid per night. To be fair I have to again stress the friendly staff. And room cleaning which is excellent. Why did I stay 10 days? 20 pieces of luggage and a dog and the hassle to move it. I regret 3000 of the 5000 Euro I spent there. I rarely regret anything’s as everything is an experience but this one is one to skip.
