When I checked into my room, I was ecstatic about the room design. Finally-- architect/designers who understood that a door inside the room, should ALWAYS separate the sleeping space from the exterior hallway. If I were to design a hotel room-- this would be it-- a small seating lounge space with a small inside corridor to the sleeping space with an interior door blocking hallway noise from the bed. It has the feel of a small suite. Perfect room. I wanted to love this hotel. But. My first night I was woken by the sounds of garbage trucks picking up and dropping dumpsters (plural)-- at 3AM, 4:00 AM, 6:00 AM and again at 7:00 AM. Add the sounds of commercial trucks backup-beeping and large bins of glass disposables being dumped in the alley. The first night, I thought maybe it was garbage day, and the next night would be ok. I was wrong. It was a repeat of this 3 nights in a row. My 10th floor room overlooked an alleyway between the hotel and a restaurant (Cactus Club). I stayed 3 nights and got zero sleep all 3, during one of the most important business trips and executive meetings of my career. Cities have bylaws about things like this-- No commercial or construction noises (in Vancouver) between 7:30 am - 8 pm weekdays. Le Soleil should be advocating for its hotel guests and reporting this to the City Bylaws, as well as reporting Cactus Club for its dumping of its glass recyclables after allowable hours. I would take a low budget hotel with no frills that lets me have a half decent sleep over this lovely little boutique building-- every time. And, shame on The City of Vancouver for allowing garbage trucks to run on repeat at all hours of the night and go unchecked. This is as unacceptable, as the complacency of Hotel Management.

Hubby and I enjoyed a nice night on the town. This hotel was a lovely boutique hotel. Rooms were spacious and tastfully decorated. Clean, quiet and charming. Location was nice and central but parking our Lightening was not fun. No valet and the hotel parkade was too short so we had to park a ways away. Note to self for next time… bring the sedan! 🚘

I was disappointed to see the corner king was smaller than a regular king for more money. If this would have been advertised I would have got a regular especially because there was no view of any kind. Bed was pretty hard but overall the hotel was very nice.

The hotel is lovely - nice rooms and good bed linens, with a great location. And the on-site restaurant really does have a fabulous happy hour - a nice selection and good-sized portions and all at a very reasonable price, especially the wine!

Everything about this hotel is elegant, including the Alouette restaurant. Large suites and great staff as well. But don't expect any cheap restaurants nearby. Other than Tim Hortons.
