About the Hotel

When it debuted at the height of the Roaring Twenties, Rosewood Hotel Georgia established itself as the Canadian destination for entertainment royalty. Marlene Dietrich showed up with 40 of her suitcases, John Wayne sauntered over the threshold, and Bing Crosby topped a never-ending list of headline entertainers. British Columbia’s top radio station, CKWX, broadcasted from the penthouse for more than a decade. Today, after a 2011 renovation, old-world touches still glimmer in a thoroughly modern hotel, a revival of the Golden Age of Travel. There’s a funky, mosaic-tiled indoor pool and a gourmet room service menu that serves late into the night (you can thank Audrey Hepburn’s list of demands for that one).

Exquisite gem of a hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

The Rosewood Georgia is an exquisite gem of a hotel. The attention to detail is just stunning, as is the professionalism and courtesy of the staff. The hotel itself is beautiful and impeccably maintained and our room was luxurious. The towels are thick and fluffy, the bed was so comfortable, and the turndown service was lovely. We will definitely be back!

Hmmmm......so that is how things end....

So, my wife and I have a “relationship” with the Rosewood Georgia that dates back to Jan 2015...ten years ago. We have stayed at the Rosewood multiple times, whenever we were in Vancouver and the Rosewood had a competitive Amex Plat FHR rate (we aren’t multi-millionaires, so yeah, the rate matters). My previous stay (traveling solo) prior to this one was back in June of 2023, and it was fantastic (review posted to Tripadvisor), with one minor quibble that some of the appointments in the room I was staying in had gotten a bit worn. Ms. Balinder Anand, the Director of Rooms responded to that review, and commented that a renovation to the Rosewood Georgia was planned for Jan 2024. And so, the Mrs. and I waited. And waited. After the hotel reopened, we checked rates…and checked rates. We couldn’t seem to find a concurrence between when we would again be in Vancouver and when the Rosewood Georgia was competitive price wise with the other Amex Plat FHR properties in Vancouver. Fast forward to Feb 2025, and my wife and I were actually living in Vancouver for a period. Things being what they were at the time (stress...so…much…stress) we decided a “staycation” was in order, and lo and behold, the Rosewood Georgia was running a competitive rate. So, book we did, and because I am that guy, I immediately dropped an email to Ms. Balinder Anand to let her know about our stay. When we pulled the car up for valet we were greeted warmly, and one valet / bellman complimented me on my car (it is a special car). I made mention that last time I was there my car had been buried in the garage, which hurt my feelings since I assumed it would be parked out front with the other fancy pants cars (yes, my ego). When we checked out, it was in fact parked out front, and that same gentleman reported that yes, they had in fact taken care to make sure that was the case. Nice. When we checked in, we were again greeted warmly, with the front desk person noting that we were guest of Ms. Balinder Anand, and that a special room had been arranged. Nice. But… That room? Not overwhelming. Smaller than I had hoped (way smaller than the magnificent room I had enjoyed during my previous stay). And furnished in a way that made it feel even smaller…like furniture had been stuffed in just to check boxes without consideration for the need to have space in order to convey a spacious room. Our view was of the building next door, under construction, generating a fair bit of noise. Ms. Anand called to check on us (nice), and we reported that we were ok. But really, things just didn’t feel like the Rosewood I had grown to love. The issues with getting a refrigerator, for example (I seem to recall during my previous Rosewood stays there was a in room refrigerator that was more than adequate), then the issues associated with finding a place to plug the refrigerator in. We found a place – behind the desk – which revealed that a garish hole had been cut in the wall with what appeared the be a hacksaw to pass the various electrical and networking / internet cables through. Very un-Rosewood like. The entirety of our stay was marked with minor annoyances…not with the people (who were great), but with the room. Things that just weren't “perfect” in that Rosewood sort of way. The remodel had left something to be desired…it ruined (just a wee bit) my beloved Rosewood Georgia. Now that we have moved off the continent, I may never again have an opportunity to stay at the Rosewood. If that is indeed the case, then I am disappointed that my last Rosewood experience wasn’t as amazing as the ones previous. Ahh Rosewood Georgia, we had a good run….

Luxury in the centre of the City

On arrival we were greeted in the most friendly and helpful fashion. The Bellboy was efficient and reception was courteous and full of useful information. A spacious room with good amenities although the light controls took a little while to work out. Quality restaurants on site with very friendly staff. A special word of praise to the Concierge who helped us out with all our queries, nothing was too much trouble. Thoroughly recommended

Fantastic stay!

Stayed- 17 April to 26 April 2025 Family of 4 We had a wonderful stay at the Rosewood Hotel Georgia during a visit to Vancouver for a family wedding. The entire stay was a five star experience and I would highly recommend the hotel to anyone considering staying there. First of all, I have to say that the service we had at the Rosewood was one of the best experiences I have had in a City hotel. Akash, went above and beyond to make sure that we had everything organised and prepared prior to our stay and that we were all settled into our room on our first night. The hotel and restaurant staff, concierge, cleaning staff all went above and beyond and even got me a steamer to iron all of my wedding outfits! The staff were all so helpful when it came to sightseeing questions too, they helped us with hiring bikes, planning a visit to Stanley park, getting the shuttle bus to Capilano suspension bridge, getting airport taxis and visiting Granville Island. Our bedroom suite was perfect for our needs; with a beautiful large bathroom, luxurious decor and the most comfortable bed I have stayed in in a hotel. I loved the sensor night lights and Dyson hairdryer! Our kids loved the pool too and spent nearly every day relaxing in the pool before dinner! The restaurants were all amazing. We had breakfast every day in the 1927 Lounge. I would highly recommend the three egg omelette and the avocado toast, which I still dream about and would eat every day on repeat. The staff at the 1927 were so attentive to our needs each day and were always happy to help with any tourist questions we had about sightseeing too. Miguel, a trained pastry chef was always so helpful with directions and made sure to fast track our breakfast on the day we had to attend a wedding. The 1927 has lots of kid friendly options for both breakfast and lunch and my kids loved the kids burger for lunch! There was also a cafe called Bel cafe at the entrance of the hotel, which does lovely sandwiches, soups and coffees. We all loved their tomato soup! We also tried some of the cocktails at the Georgia bar and would definitely recommend the bar for some relaxed nibbles, drinks and fabulous live music! The bar staff were all so friendly and we even found a fellow Englishman! The hotel has a real cosy feel to it and the Georgia bar has a beautiful relaxing fireplace, perfect for chilled drinks. The Reflections garden terrace restaurant had just re-opened when we stayed and they do delicious bar food and light bites. Maeve, the restaurant manager, was so lovely and friendly and really went the extra mile to make sure we had everything we needed. We also tried the burgers at the Hawkworth bar and they were, in humble opinion, the best burgers we had during our entire stay in Vancouver. All in all, we are really glad we chose to stay at the Rosewood. From its perfect location to all the City sites and parks and being right next door to all the shops and Skytrain, to the amazing service and luxurious rooms, we couldn't have asked for anything more for our stay!
