Rosewood Hotel Georgia in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
When it debuted at the height of the Roaring Twenties, Rosewood Hotel Georgia established itself as the Canadian destination for entertainment royalty. Marlene Dietrich showed up with 40 of her suitcases, John Wayne sauntered over the threshold, and Bing Crosby topped a never-ending list of headline entertainers. British Columbia’s top radio station, CKWX, broadcasted from the penthouse for more than a decade. Today, after a 2011 renovation, old-world touches still glimmer in a thoroughly modern hotel, a revival of the Golden Age of Travel. There’s a funky, mosaic-tiled indoor pool and a gourmet room service menu that serves late into the night (you can thank Audrey Hepburn’s list of demands for that one).
Order a buttery, homemade pastry from Bel Café. Follow it with a handful of confetti-colored macaroons (it’s OK, you’ve already had breakfast!) Resist Vancouver’s urban pull and head to the wilderness just outside the city: Stanley Park teems with old-growth forests and craggy beaches, and its home to the Vancouver Aquarium. Glimpse Canada’s underwater residents, then head back to the hotel for a delectable meal – Hawksworth is the three-time winner of Vancouver Magazine’s Best Upscale Restaurant award.

Reviews for Rosewood Hotel Georgia
Great room - the soaking tub, the rain forest shower and wonderful king bed. Excellent service, striking atmosphere and location made our stay simply luxurious. Would not hesitate to book the Escape package again - breakfast, valet and the room all in one.
Our stay with Rosewood Hotel Georgia was wonderful, just like a visit with a dear friend. The entire stall was outstanding, The restaurant was a real treat to enjoy a delightful meal with our friends. You will be pampered with style during your stay.

We are locals so we have had the opportunity to stay at other brands such as Fairmont, Shangri-La and boutique hotels in the city. We have seen the numerous glowing online reviews for Rosewood Hotel Georgia so we finally booked our first stay here on the weekend before Christmas. Pros: Beautiful, stunning hotel. Beautiful bathroom with deep tub. We eventually got a higher level room with a nice city view. We enjoyed Bel Cafe and dinner at Hawksworth Restaurant. Food was very good, and service was attentive in the cafes/restaurants. Cons: We were told upon check-in that we had been upgraded to a deluxe room (we had booked through an agency that grants one-category upgrade depending upon availability); however, when we got to our room, we were surprised that there was just a single chair as opposed to a sofa in the living space. When we called down to confirm that it was indeed a deluxe room, we were told that some deluxe rooms had a "different configuration". We asked if a deluxe room with a standard configuration was available, and eventually we were switched to a beautiful deluxe room. While we were happy with the remainder of our stay, our initial impression of the hotel soured our experience. We suspect that we had been falsely led to believe we were getting an upgraded room when it was the standard room. This practice is dishonest and unacceptable, and for a 5-star hotel, especially ironic. Overall, we didn't feel the hotel pays attention to detail. Everything had a 5-star price tag, yet the experience was very impersonal and transactional. We still had a good time at the hotel, but I don't imagine we'll be back anytime soon considering there are many other better options. A few things to note: There is no sauna/steam/hot tub at the hotel. (However, the bathtub is very nice.) The pool is indoors, with retro-coloured lights and salted water. While there, I could see the kitchen and bar of Reflections lounge, so most likely they could see us too.
The biggest tip we can give you is never leave anything in your car as "smash and grab", (broken window and stolen belongings) is a real thing even in areas of the city that you might consider to be "safe". On a positive note - be sure to visit The Museum of Anthropology at UBC!!!! Simply amazing. You will not want to leave.

Hotel Georgia is beautiful & elegant. The staff is wonderful and very knowledgeable. It’s located in the heart of downtown Vancouver, walking distance to everything from Granville Island to Stanley Park. The concierge Gerardo is very knowledgable and personable, everything he recommended was amazing. A must stay location!
