The hotel is conveniently located and the pricing is usually really good. Diva's is a great restaurant in the hotel. That's where the good ends. On my latest trip, here is what I experienced. First, the wifi. It is terrible. I get better wifi from the Four Season hotel (where I stayed before) and it is across Howe Street. Second, the elevator. If you've been to this hotel before, you know what I'm talking about. One of the elevators literally shakes on the way up and on the way down. Was like that in October when I stayed and again in November. Front desk guy told me they have technicians working on it all the time. Maybe a call to the BC elevator regulator would improve the technicians' work. Third, to my great surprise, last night, when I climbed into bed, I realized that the housekeeping staff had "forgotten" to put sheets on the bed. That's right, all I had was the sheet over the mattress and an uncovered duvet. No sheets. I called to the front desk to "advise" of said omission, and they sent someone to remedy the situation. Housekeeping guy comes up and heads to the sofa bed and I'm like, no no, the actual bed has no sheets. He goes over, looks at it in what I can only describe as total disbelief. He leaves to go get sheets for the bed (not the sofa bed which he thought was the problem) and is like, I don't even know what to say. I mention all of this to the check out guy this morning and all I get is a "sorry". I'm not sure what sort of "compensation" one gets for getting a room that had no sheets on the bed, but I was hoping for more than just sorry. He assured me that he would talk to the manager about this. We'll see if they respond to me.

Stay right at the core of downtown! Perfectly situated between downtown and the waterfront, a walk away from almost anything! Until today I have heard some places let you check in early but this is the first time I have ever been offered this option. The staff is very friendly, the service is outstanding and the checkout was quick and easy. I only have one complain: the wireless internet. It's worse than dial up, it cuts often and it's unreliable, which in today's day and age is just unacceptable.

Time for some serious updates. Internet was inadequate. No apple plugins for iPhones or iPads. Bed was good, but took the shower 10 minutes to heat up. The DivaI bar needs some attention as well in their alcohol selection. In a neighborhood of great hotels, it was just ok. Very nice folks at the desk though.

I was very pleased with all aspects of my stay at the Metropolitan. It is an elegant, quiet retreat in the heart of downtown Vancouver. A great place to return to after being out and about all day discovering the city.

Overpriced. The room was ok but the pull out was not made and we had to call. The pull out was it terrible shape, lumpy and springs. The street noise was veryvery loud and carried into the room. Overall stay, mediocre
