Excellent service. Rooms very clean and well appointed. Very courteous staff. Easy walk to my nearby business meetings. The front entry ("door men") staff were extremely courteous. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a great place to stay in central downtown Vancouver. Good access to Sky Train and inner harbour (float plane, water taxi, etc.).

Would never stay here again. Spent one night travelling with my brother to the boat show. Room had two single beds (not double or even twin) with no larger beds available. They offered us a single king but no thanks. Bathroom was fine, wifi pathetic and an antiquated TV. Room was $270.00 plus they charged $40.00 for parking. I expect more for $310 bucks. Only plus was central location. People at the desk were pleasant but with a definite "too bad, so sad" attitude when I expressed my concerns. Two thumbs down!

We stayed a few days at this hotel. It is in the middle of town so very convenient to everything. Conceirge was great with ideas and information. The rooms were comfy and the coffee machine produced good coffee. Would recommend.

Ah, The Metropolitan, or “The Met” as it is more commonly known! Built in the early 1980s, initially as the Mandarin Oriental’s flagship Canadian property, The Met has developed a well-deserved reputation for excellence and luxury. Situated in the heart of downtown Vancouver’s financial district (Howe Street), The Met offers convenience for the business and pleasure traveler alike. Besides the excellent quality of the hotel, it is in a prime location: The CF Pacific Centre is literally right across the street; the Bill Reid Art Gallery is a few minutes’ walk away, as is the Vancouver Art Gallery; Christ Church Cathedral is a short walk; the historic Waterfront Station and Gas Town are nearby; and so too are Pacific Central Station, Skytrain and Canada Line. Granville Street and Robson Street are also just a couple of blocks away. In short, whether you’re heading to a meeting, looking to do some shopping or sightseeing, you don’t have to travel far. As for the hotel grounds, the only remaining evidence of its Mandarin Oriental background is the main lobby area where plush, bright carpet offset the neutral tone of the walls and chairs. It is also here where you’ll see what, in my view, is the focal point of the room: an intricate, hand-carved Oriental piece in gold colour. The minute details of the artwork are, in many ways, a physical representation of all that The Met is: Refined elegance without an elitist feel. We arrived at the hotel kind of early (just after 12PM), but were pleasantly surprised to learn that our room was ready; it was nice to check in right away rather than have to kill time elsewhere. Check in was a breeze – the hotel staff were friendly, helpful and very efficient. Once in the room, I couldn’t help but admire the space. It was simple – “homely” as some have described it – with warm earth tones but definitely luxurious, with beautiful views of the city. The room was adorned with all of the modern amenities we’ve come to expect: charging ports for your devices, WiFi, digital alarm clock, flat screen TV, and, as an added bonus, a fully stocked bar and mini fridge. The marble bathroom further enhanced the feel of luxury: a large soaking tub plus walk-in shower. Fabulous! What I really appreciated about our stay, however, was the good sleep quality. The king-sized bed was very comfortable, no doubt aided by the Italian linens and down duvets. As well, the overall design of the rooms plus double pane windows ensures a quiet night. My partner and I looked at the 24-hour room service menu, but were able to resist this time. This was my first time back at The Met in almost ten years and, I have to say, my partner and I enjoyed our stay. We will definitely be returning. Hopefully next time we’ll be able to dine at the award-winning Diva, which was closed when we’d attempted to go for lunch. Highly recommended!
