Fairmont Hotel Vancouver

We recently stayed one night pre-cruise. I’d stayed this hotel previously but not for several years. It’s centrally located with a short walk to the waterfront, Robson Street, restaurants and public transportation. Overall, the experience was good, but with a couple of issues. Like most Fairmonts in Canada, the Hotel Vancouver is a grand old hotel and service is good. The room and furniture were in good shape. The price was outrageous at nearly $700/night (with promotional and member discounts) for an entry-level room with no view - but then all downtown hotels are outrageously priced in Vancouver during cruise season. There were a couple of things that I wasn’t happy with. When I closed the bathroom door, I noticed the corners of the floor and the baseboards behind the door were quite dirty and desperately needed cleaning. The other thing that I found very annoying - enough to make me not come back - was the putrid smell in the lobby. It was like being stuck in an elevator with someone that had bathed in cheap cologne. We were told it’s the hotel’s “signature scent”. Both of us found it sickening and couldn’t stand being on the ground floor. We encountered this also at the Fairmont Pacific Rim on a previous stay. Nowadays - workplaces, medical offices, etc. request that people refrain from wearing perfume. This is because many people are bothered by heavy scents. Why would a hotel intentionally allow such a pervasive scent to overpower the entire ground floor? There is no escaping it there. Can they be that out of touch that they don’t realize it’s extremely unpleasant for some people? Everyone was friendly and helpful at the hotel and the room was nice (except for the bathroom cleanliness issue). It was a pleasant stay, but not outstanding. We visit Vancouver often but because of the perfume issue, I unfortunately will not be back.

The hotel was very nice but the service was not as good as most Fairmont so the exerience was disappointing, especially for how much the rooms cost. First of all, we stayed 3 nights and they never provided any 'turn-down' service. Secondly. We had called to let them know we were arriving late and has some requests for our room. We had for the front desk but the operator said that the front desk doesn't take calls.

Amazing stay here to celebrate my hubby's 37th birthday. The hotel is beautiful and well-maintained, with plenty of options for meals, drinks, and shopping both on-site and in the surrounding neighborhood. They left a handwritten welcome note for us, and the cleaners gently organized my makeup and hair tools. Absolutely amazing turn-down service. We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast, and the location was perfect for exploring all that the city has to offer. The quality of service throughout the hotel is top-notch, exactly what you expect for the premium price. Everyone went above and beyond to meet our every need; we felt very pampered. This was our first experience at a Fairmont Hotel, and we are now big fans. The quality is absolutely here. Tip: We saved on parking by parking at the nearby mall instead of at the hotel, but that's just because the hotel had exorbitant parking rates.

My family and I enjoyed a wonderful first-time visit to the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. The location is excellent: close to shopping and many great restaurants. The service was first-class: from the valet attendants to the front desk (including Darcy, Parisa, Sarina and Manas) to Kara (an exceptional Royal Service Agent), the staff prioritized our needs and sought to exceed our expectations. They succeeded. Our room was nice (clean; elegant) but next time I will consider a larger option. The gym was excellent. Large enough that - even with a number of people working out - I had my space. Finally, I highly recommend drinks at Notch8. The setting is a stunning combination of vintage and modern, and the service was top-notch. Next time I’ll order food as well…
