Ca' Sagredo Hotel in Venice, Italy

On the edge of the Grand Canal, five-star Ca' Sagredo Hotel holds the legacy of one of the most prominent noble families in Venice. The Sagredos bought the palace in the middle of the 17th Century and assembled an art collection of more than 800 paintings and 2,000 drawings dating from the Renaissance. Original art and antiques envelop guests during a stay that's more akin to time travel than a holiday. Upgrade to a suite for even plusher surroundings – the towering wardrobes in the Library Suite used to house Zaccaria Sagredo's literary collection.

Run your hands over the gold leafing on the edges of your royal bed as you wake up and stretch. Eschew the crowded museums in Venice and descend the hotel’s grand staircase instead. Get absorbed in masterpieces by Nicol˛ Bambini, Giambattista Piepolo and Sebastiano Ricci. Listen to the faraway notes of a piano player in the salon. Dine on fresh row fish from the Rialto market while watching gondolas navigate the Grand Canal.

The Ca' Sagredo Hotel is pure old world luxury. Everything about the hotel from its location to its architecture and interior design is perfect. Staying in this hotel lets you momentarily experience the life of the noble families that once lived here in the lap of luxury. If you want to feel pampered then this is where you need to stay. Even the bed on a raised dais makes you feel like royalty. The ceilings are high with incredible detail, the view from the suite is spectacular, there is a walk in closet for your clothes and all your suitcases. It's every woman's dream suite. The detail is carried throughout, even to the exquisite morning room where you have breakfast. The hotel is central to everything and a short walk to the Rialto Bridge. The L'Alcova Restaurant in the hotel is a must for a romantic dinner.

Situated right on the Grand Canal and just far enough away from the busiest spots. A very good hotel with generally good service and with grand (although slightly tired) accommodation. However the real highlights are the magnificent building and the art within. Some of the reception rooms nothing short of amazing and it's a privilege to wander through around and simply enjoy the spaces, architecture and art The waterfront restaurant is priced as you might expect for the location but probably worth trying once.

We stayed here on a family vacation. Large and well maintained rooms. Excellent cleaning service. Ate in the restaurant which has excellent but quite expensive food. Staff was attentive and helpful although probably more helpful to very high end clientele. No gym or health club facilities.

Nothing says "this is going to be a great stay" quite like arriving to your hotel via private water taxi! The hotel is gorgeous--the lobby area is magnificent that I could barely pay attention to the lady who checked us in. Our room was on the first floor, in an interior room and it was amazing! Is that even possible??! The room was huge--there was a step up just past the closet and luggage area that took you into the rest of the room. There was even a sitting area off the bedroom. The bathroom was all Carrera marble. I am all about the view from my room but somehow it didn't matter because the room was that nice. And since the hotel was on the water, a beautiful view was only minutes away. We had dinner in the hotel's restaurant our first night. The service was top notch. Our waiter was gracious and helpful. Their caprese salad was my favorite of all the caprese salads I had enjoyed over the past 2 weeks in Italy! I had read reviews of people complaining about the breakfast so I was hesitant when we walked in to the breakfast area (which is more like a museum!!) that first day. The breakfast was great! There were plenty of choices hot and cold. And really, what's there to complain about when there's bottles of prosecco waiting for your glass?!!! Oh and if that didn't help, they play the most beautiful Italian opera music. The roof top terrace was a charming, quiet respite from the bustle of the day. I loved the Venetian glass flower sculpture, too! We loved the location of being on the Grande Canal but not being in the middle of the bustling crowds. We would definitely come back to this hotel!!!

I have just spent 3 days at this wonderful hotel and I can just say great things about it. This is smaller than the other luxury palazzo hotels in Venice, and maintains the real charm and magic of ancient Venetian palazzos. It offers an outstanding service, great rooms and suites and a great restaurant for a reasonable good price for a luxury hotel in this expensive city. I have been at the Gritti and the Bauer before, and this hotel has nothing to envy to those - but the location. If you accept to be a bit further from the Piazza San Marco, 15 min away by taxi boat- just don┬┤t hesitate. I strongly recommend it. I was staying in one of the historic suites and I was feeling like a prince!
