Ca' Sagredo Hotel in Venice, Italy

On the edge of the Grand Canal, five-star Ca' Sagredo Hotel holds the legacy of one of the most prominent noble families in Venice. The Sagredos bought the palace in the middle of the 17th Century and assembled an art collection of more than 800 paintings and 2,000 drawings dating from the Renaissance. Original art and antiques envelop guests during a stay that's more akin to time travel than a holiday. Upgrade to a suite for even plusher surroundings – the towering wardrobes in the Library Suite used to house Zaccaria Sagredo's literary collection.

Run your hands over the gold leafing on the edges of your royal bed as you wake up and stretch. Eschew the crowded museums in Venice and descend the hotel’s grand staircase instead. Get absorbed in masterpieces by Nicolò Bambini, Giambattista Piepolo and Sebastiano Ricci. Listen to the faraway notes of a piano player in the salon. Dine on fresh row fish from the Rialto market while watching gondolas navigate the Grand Canal.

Great location in Venice. Immediately across Grand Canal from one of the Markets and short walks to most every site in Venice. The hotel is very unique, quiet in spite of being on a Piazza and the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. This is a restored palazzo (Palace) with a beautiful music room. Breakfast is served under ceiling fresco's in two rooms adjacent to the music room on the second floor. Our room, on the first floor, was a suite with a nice seating area and king size bed. The bathroom was very large. The room includes a walk in closet area with lots of storage for clothes, luggage etc. Perhaps expensive, but, worth the cost.

This is a wonderful hotel in a perfect location and whilst expensive it is worth every penny! The location is perfect Right on the Grand Canal close to the Rialto Bridge. The restaurant has an external terrace alongside the Grand Canal where you can enjoy a meal, a beer or a coffee watching the gondolas and Vaporettos glide by In the morning it is fascinating to watch Venice come to life Instead of delivery trucks boats ply up and down the Grand Canal delivering clean linen to the hotels or new stocks of beer and wine to the bars and hotels Cross the Grand Canal by Gondola to the fascinating fish and vegetable markets directly opposite. This now numbers in our top 3 hotels in Europe The others being Antica Torre in Florence and CasaDel Poeta in Seville A special thanks to Michel on the front desk for booking us such a fabulous restaurant just 10 minutes srtroll away

This a beautiful hotel, ideally situated well away from the massive crowds nearer St. Marks Square. Of course this is Venice and it was expensive, the room was not as spacious or well appointed as the photos on the website suggested. The restaurant has a great view of the Grand Canal if you want to sit outside but sadly the roof top terrace is little more than a smokers den with a bar. Minor niggles, the gym was closed on two days out of three, as it doubles up as a storage cupboard during events and frankly was so poorly equipped it might as well as such. Very view of the tv channels seemed to work, the only English Channel (BBC World service) hadn't worked for weeks due to heavy rain in September I was told. The staff however were very helpful and fixed our aircon that day, and the food was good.

Right from arriving at the hotel via water taxi staff could not be more helpful. Friendly and welcoming in luxurious surroundings. Great location. 10/10 for comfort. Slept soundly. The artwork outside the hotel was stunning. Happy 10th Anniversary to all the staff. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

This is a small boutique hotel located on the Grand Canal. Close to many shops and restaurants. It is a quick gondola ride directly across the Grand Canal to the Rialto fish and vegetable market. The rooms are a nice size with ensuite bathrooms. The grand rooms of the palace dating back to the 14th century are beautiful. Take the time to read about the history provided to the guests. The concierge was a huge help from booking dining reservations to helpful information of things to do and arranging transportation.
