We stayed at this hotel following our trip to Venice on The Venice-Simplon Orient express and were more than delighted to find that the luxury continued. The reception was most welcoming made even better by the invitation to a complimentary bottle of Prosecco prior to our Michelin tasting menu on the following evening, to help us celebrate out 25th wedding anniversary The room was extremely comfortable and quiet. Staff on reception were very helpful if a little keen to sell personalised water taxi trips. Just take the water bus and to get best value get a day pass which was 20euro. The breakfast buffet was outstanding with the waiting staff making us feel very special while dealing with some very brusque American tourists. The location of the hotel is ideal being only 400metres from St Mark's Square and having a water bus stop right outside the hotel, so is an ideal location for exploring the major attractions and the back alleyways

Stayed for over a week after running the Venice Marathon. The concierge service was excellent. Concierge desk made all the reservations for restaurants and replied to my email promptly. Room Service is implacable with an evening turn down service and a supply of fresh towels and toiletries. Our room has the view of the Grand Canal and it was a treat to wake up in the morning and open the window to see all the boats coming in. The front of the hotel is always busy and packed with day trippers. I will stay at Metropole again in a heart beat for their excellent service. There is a piazza behind the hotel, where there are 2 excellent coffee shops with fresh baked pastry all day. It is an interesting piazza as there is a small church where Antonio Vivaldi was baptized and buried.

We have stayed here regularly over the past few years. This traditional family-owned hotel has never failed to delight us. The decor is classy -- old-style exotic. The staff are exceptionally polite and attentive. The location is perfect. The cocktail bar and restaurant are both among the best in the city. It is spotlessly clean and flawlessly efficient.

We booked the Metropole to celebrate a special birthday and despite the torrential downpour which accompanied our arrival (and rather spoilt the transfer via the Grand Canal), from the moment we alighted at the private dock, this hotel was a delight. A lovely room, helpful and attentive staff - particularly so in the bar, and beautifully decorated. If there is a better hotel in Venice that must be really something as the atmosphere here was intimate and very special. The hotel is ideally placed for exploring Venice either on foot or by water taxi from the side door. Overall, not cheap but worth it.
