Reviews for Palace Bonvecchiati
We stayed here on our family trip to Venice. The location is perfect for St Mark's Square (3 minute walk) and the Rialto Bridge (5 minute walk). The hotel is easy to find. We were warmly greeted at reception by Ugo and we had two very nice rooms with efficient air con - welcome in 30' temperatures! The staff were helpful and courteous. Our room was spacious, comfortable and clean. Breakfast was a buffet in a lovely terrace restaurant and there was plenty of food to choose from. We had a lovely stay here and would certainly return.

We spent two nights in Venice at the Palace and enjoyed the spacious room and bath as well as the friendly staff. Breakfast was included and more notable for the scenery and décor than the food -- if you can make do with a roll and yogurt you'll be fine. If you like more substantial fare, you may be disappointed. Agree with the comments on the hairdryer as well: think whole house vacuum in reverse. Still, we had a pleasant stay and would return.

Booked via Jet 2 City breaks after finding its the same hotel as recommended by Hayes and Jarvis. After a rather long time trying to get to the actual hotel after the incorrect directions we were very pleasantly surprised to find the hotel was everything and more of what was described in the brochures. Very helpful reception staff. They even helped two ladies who arrived along with us who had also been given duff directions and were at the wrong hotel were taken to the correct one by one of their staff . We were shown to our junior suite and it was great. A large room with balcony along with sun beds and chairs. Very clean and the chamber maids were also excellent even though we didn't require clean towels every day they were provided. The bed was turned down in the evening and towels once again replaced. The restaurant staff were attentive and the food was good you could not fault the service provided. All in all we would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Venice. Aldo very good air conditioning which was fabulous as Venice is seeing and feeling the hottest weather for 50 Years according to the locals.

Great location, comfy room with the biggest wardrobe I've seen but I would rather half the size of the wardrobe and have tea and coffee making facilities. Not to be able to put the kettle on when I woke up killed me!! Also ladies with long hair may need to consider a hairdryer, the one in the room was one of those soft useless blowy things that took for hours so I gave up and went outside with my hair wet - ok in summer, not so sure about the cooler months. Cleaning staff were friendly but there was a bit of a mixture at reception, one surly and not terribly helpful, another friendly and very helpful!

In that the rooms are clean and tidy, are are the public areas, this has the makings of a being a nice hotel; and that is what gets in three "pips". In all other respects, the hotel fails in its primary aim ie to be a hotel. The Palace Bonvecchiati has no restaurant, meals including breakfast are taken next door at the Bonvecchiati Hotel, to which it is joined by stairs and corridors. There is virtually no lounge seating, there is nowhere to get a tea of a coffee other than in your room; the bar don't have a coffee machine (no coffee machine in Italy, I ask you)! It doesn't matter that the bar doesn't have a coffee machine, it never seemed to be open, and had it been, it was tiny. Not one of the main hotel booking web sites made this sharing of facilities obvious and shame on them for not doing so. We wouldn't stay here gain, there are nicer hotels in the immediate area where you don't have to go next door to eat.
