Reviews for Palace Bonvecchiati
We visited last year and had the most wonderful time!! Ugo and the rest of the team in Reception are amazing, we had the loveliest welcome from the staff and they really looked after us, nothing was too much trouble. They helped us with a number of problems with external tours (nothing to do with the hotel but they re-organised everything for us with the tour company on our behalf when a tour was cancelled) We were upgraded to a fabulous executive suite on arrival which looks over the canal, (book it if you can, it's simply gorgeous!!) with gondolas passing through regularly. Seriously this place is lovely, the rooms are small but beautifully appointed and are clean and comfortable. Location is superb, minutes walk from St Marks Square and waterfront. We were very sorry to leave. This place is fabulous, don't hesitate to book. We will definitely visit again. Huge thank you to the team for looking after us so well.

On a recent family trip to Venice, we stayed 2 nights at the Palace Bonvecchiati. While it is not for budget travelers, if you want a memorable hotel stay befitting a magical city like Venice I urge you to check this place out especially if you have kids. We were blown away by the size of our modern, stylish room that literally was 15 feet above the canals which was perfect for people and gondolier watching. The location which is in the heart of Venice and all the sites cannot be beat and is minutes (equidistant) from San Marco's Square and the Rialto Bridge. It is an easy walk from the Rialto B ferry stop down an awesomely charming alley lined with shops and several wonderful restaurants. Oh and did I mention the sumptuous free buffet breakfast!!!

The hotel is well positioned, close to both St Mark's square and the Rialto bridge. If taking a water taxi, the Palace Bonvecchiati and Hotel Bonvecchiati have separate entrances, not an issue as they are close, but the Palace far more impressive for your arrival. We stayed in a Junior suite which was well positioned and overlooked the canal, great for Gondola watching, not so great between 6 and 8 for the deliveries and garbage collection, but somehow fascinating seeing the logistics and workings of the island. Our room was modern, spacious with a separate dressing area, well appointed bathroom and the bed extremely comfortable with linen changed daily, so perfect for a well earned rest after sight seeing. Two minor irritations, old fashioned on the wall hairdryer and no tea and coffee making facilities in the room. We ate in the restaurant on our first night which was hugely disappointing. The service was poor and the staff attitude bordering rude which was such a contrast to the friendly welcome and atmosphere in reception. The Restsurant food was highly average, which is theme followed for breakfast, adequate and by no means stylish. A self service affair with a random selection of cakes and pastries. The toast machine is next to the tea and coffee with round tables of cakes and cereals too close, causing chaos and confusion to all. A bit of organisation would improve the experience for staff and guests alike. The gym opens at 8 which is a little late, twice during they stay I had to ask reception for access but it was really no trouble and the chap who opened it cheery and Friendly. The hotel is a great place to stay whilst in Venice for its convenience, cleanliness and comfort. There are so many places in Venice to enjoy coffee, drinks, lunch and dinner you can easily avoid the restaurant.

I really liked the hotel, we had a nice spacious room with own walking closet, great location. BUT I would reconsider staying here just because of the breakfast. It seemed we were at an Ibis 2 stars with hordes of people and cheap quality food...

We had a corner suite, which was really just a large room. Comfortable though, and the hotel is generally in better shape than many in Venice. Good location too. One tip though - for goodness sake, send the barman on a customer service call. I've never come across a chap so clearly put out at the inconvenience of having customers!
