We stayed through New Year 2017/8 in the GHouse. Overall family enjoyed venice and had a great time and the staff were generally very fine and willing. Good at booking taxis although English not always top quality so check meaning understood but same as most Italian hotels. However others thinking of staying should take note: - The hotel is by no means “5 star” - boutique 4 star at best on multiple levels. (Some favourites the kitchen that closes and does not open until 7pm - I guess not helpful if you have young kids; the chef forgetting to keep enough eggs back to serve breakfast so we were left waiting until shops opened; great baking unless you arrived early for breakfast when staff reheated the day before croissant) - Like many designer hotels the “design” is getting dated and the furniture getting shabby and putting looks over functionality means tables are too low, chairs hard to eat from etc., - GHouse in our view is oversold and verging on misdescription (think upper end but not top quality airbnb ...It is a very separate house 50m from hotel not adjacent or connected. ...It is a house for 2 couples or 1 couple and child comfortably; the sitting room is entirely lost with a 3rd couple or child which is a problem as the kitchen is low end IKEA spec with no sofa (but several stuffed animals). - The kitchen furniture is wobbly IKEA-like stuff that feels in danger of collapsing. If we had been six I think the benches would have collapsed. - If you are planning on cooking only the very basic of utensils are there (In the height of summer where the verandah can be used this may be less of an issue) ...Room service is not available (despite access to hotel services) and the house is provisioned as a hotel room for a couple rather than for 6 or 4. You can ask for the minibar to be refreshed. Room service and breakfast menus are set out but only for reference. ...Housekeeping may or may not remember to replace all items each day. Note no milk for coffee and remembering this is a property for 6 there are exactly 6 tea bags provided - one cup per day. Another day all the bags were jasmine tea. Not the end of the world but a pretty standard poor attention to detail. ...Behind the mirrors and erotic photography (appropriate for a young family??) the repair is not great (amazing what some glitzy trendy stuff hides). That maybe part of the “look” but it also means the lower shower leaks into the corridor and the “aircon” / heating is patchy so we either sweltered (zero degrees outside) or froze and no extra bedding left ....Wifi very poor and no English language TV available at all (BTW We sort of doubt this is the owners residence when in Venice! Nice line but I am pretty sure he would have a better equipped kitchen etc., ) Overall we paid maybe twice what we should have for a self-catering apartment at the time of year and then paid for most extortionate breakfast of all time (I travel a lot and this was old style rip off breakfast pricing as other reviewers mention). Venice is very expensive and we can afford it. PalazzinaG and the GHouse are adequate but not delivering on the quality of service and property demanded for the price point they asks for. Starwood or someone needs to shake them up.

2 minutes from the San Samuele Water bus stop on the Grand Canal. We stayed in the Club G building on the water. Room was good size, mini balcony courtyard, small sitting space Building has separate entrance, nice sitting room downstairs. Small balcony that sits right on the Canal off the club. Grab a bar stool and take it outside and enjoy the view. Bar in the main building has a wonderful sitting area, very active but quiet. Staff is friendly and attentive. We also booked an hour water taxi tour with wine and appetizers with the concierge. Pricey and worth it if you want to see part of Venice only the water can show you. SPG does it again.

Quick check-in, but they don't have reception. Sometimes, no people standing there. The room is too small, using lots of mirror inside the room. The bathroom is good but too small as well. The breakfast is good. Staffs also nice.

If I could give this hotel a zero I would. It had been a dream of mine to visit Venice for many many years. I used 70,000 SPG points for two nights to make it special. The room: lights turned on all after being turned off at bedtime over and over again until the staff rebooted the system. The door keys never worked and every time we entered the hotel we had to go down for assistance. The toilet wouldn't flush and when I complained the staff smirked as if this was funny to them. The in room sound system only worked in the bathroom. The hotel advertised outdoor space overlooking the Grand Canal. day one it was closed we told because of light rain but someone would let us up there the next day. The next day someone else told us it was closed for the season. The printed materials in the room and the website both said it would be open. A slip was left in the room to order breakfast with no prices listed. When I asked if breakfast was included we were told "No sir you are excluded." No "I'm sorry for the misunderstanding." The next day the same slip to order a free breakfast was left in our room again which is a strange mistake for a small boutique hotel claiming to be five stars to write. The staff was condescending and questioned each time we complained about the room keys or the lights "are you sure you're doing it correctly." It was unreal. Perhaps as we used SPG points they felt it was okay to treat us with disdain but that's not what a good hotel does. It's not what good people do to other people. I lodged a complaint with Starwood and the manager closed the complaint with no compensation without my notice or input. I travel as much as 50 nights a year for work and pleasure. I have never ever had an experience as bad as this.
