Don't let the negative reviews stop you from coming to this Oasis. Currently on our second day here and my wife and I are already talking about booking our next visit. Gorgeous room with breathtaking views. Best steam rooms and saunas we have been too. Great selections for spa treatments and given the class of the resort are decent priced. We heard the dinners were over expensive and average at best. So we went to Vernon for a early dinner and brought snacks with us to hold us over for the night. 10/10. There is a reason why this place was rated one of the best resorts in the world.

We arrived by the elite shuttle service which was fantastic!! The front desk lady who checked us in was efficient but I was some what surprised she did not tell us about anything and just told us there was a welcome letter in our room with all the information we would need to answer any questions we might have. We recently stayed at BearMountain and they were very detailed on all the amenities we would find in the resort & on the mountain. The hotel is beautiful, our room was fantastic, I loved that they kept to the theme of all the crystals everywhere. The pools were lovely and the steam/saunas were great. But the steams/saunas were quite busy due to the fact that they are only open from 9-11am and 4-10pm so everyone is herding there at the same time. That really takes away from the relaxation of the whole experience. It really does not seem to make any sense as to why they would shut them down for so long during the day and it is disappointing. One thing I did notice was the water station was not ready nuy the pool, 2 hours after they had opened the pool. Water would have been lovely after being in the hot pool. The other times we had been to the pool they had water, with either cucumber or lemon. The table was there and the lid to jug. There is no lifeguard on duty which is not a problem but you would think since the hotel was completely booked that everything was in order and ready for guests. We had lots of trouble trying to get a spa service booked, we attempted at the time of booking our room and very little to options. I ended up cancelling my service. We have been to several spas (Kingfisher, Temple Gardens, Oak Bay Boat House) and find that if you have been happy with a services you then try and do add on services, so they seem to me missing out on more $$. I appreciate that KurSpa is busy so it must be good but I would not know, they had zero flexibility. I was also really disappointed that their employees giving massages are NOT RMTs but just spa trained. For the price and being a wellness spa you would think they could assure you a trained RMT. By far the biggest complaint was the food. When we got into our room and had read our letter it said we should make dinner reservations if we were eating at the resort, we asked for somewhere to a 6-7 pm reservation. The earliest we could get in was 730. I was looking forward to really fresh vegetables, juices and fruit, being advertised as a 5 star wellness retreat. I was let down. The dinner menu at Peakfine was limited in vegetarian options. The food was not "bad" but it was not 5 star, it was average. Nothing better than a meal you can rave about. The best part of my meal was the warm bread and garlic butter that came ahead of time. But our server was lovely. vOur bill came to 96$ ( 2 people)and that was without alcohol or dessert, not worth the price for incredibly average meal we could have got at a chain. The free breakfast was also a bit of a let down. Again it wasnt straight up "bad" but again just not 'great'. Thought maybe I will get some fruit with breakfast, all they had was a really average fruit salad :( sad face, this was what I was really looking forward too. We did not have dinner at the resort our second night and went into Vernon. We walked down to Pallinos. It was a bit of a trek there and back in the snow but it was worth the walk, the margherita pizza was wonderful. So to sum up our stay the hotel is beautiful, the views are gorgeous, the food is a major let down, spa facilities are lovely but limited hours so very busy, pool is nice, spa services hard to book and not performed by RMTs just spa trained staff. Will we be back? No. Would we recommend? No, we would suggest checking something else out. Not a bad trip but not amazing, especially when price is being factored in.

My husband and I have been staying in this hotel almost from its opening. Needless to say we were charmed and excited to return here again and again. I was an enthusiastic ambassador to tell co-workers, friends about such a luxury and exclusive hotel. We returned again in February and I'm writing my comments with regrets this time. Some changes have been made to make this hotel just average: - a breakfast is quite ordinary now, not luxurious as used to be; - people speak loudly in a spa area, despite the signs even in an elevator to keep your voice low; - we stayed 3 nights and a housekeeper never brought additional toileterries, which reminded me a very cheap hotel service. She left 2 swimming towels but did not replace the robes; - the last straw we observed during our dinner in the restaurant - a girl brought plates, glasses, napkins in her hands (!), put everything on a chair (!) and then was taking plates with her fingers and palm on the inside surface, the glasses with her fingers inside them, cutleries not by "legs"... I lost my appetite and could not drink from the glass. Good change happened though - after all these years, the dinners were tasty finally. Still pricy but eatable. I overheard like other people talked the same - how different it became in a bad way. The comments were accompaned with the words "shame" and "sad". People, including my husband and I were concerned that this hotel standards became poor and the management must hear the guests's voices. Very sad.

The advertising looks great, no doubt about it. But, reality ... meh. I felt it's more about the Ego of the designer and completely missed the guests' point of view. So many simple elements were missing that I thought would have been obvious... a coffee maker in room and an ice machine for self serve to start... I could go on. The spa - the highlight apparently. It felt more like being in a laboratory hallway and the local YMCA pool than a high priced resort. With the theme of "wellness and water' my thoughts would have been more to nature than stark white and sharp lines. Maybe that's just me. The restaurant - all I saw was how strict the dress code is; smart casual. then why is ok to wear bathrobes and slippers to breakfast?? I wasn't 'offended' as one comment suggested, I am just wondering WHY would anyone want to??? As for dinner, after reading the one star ratings on Google, we skipped it and chose to go into Vernon, not wanting to add another possible one star rating to the list. After two days, yes, it was relaxing and a nice get-a-way. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean and staff was pleasant. Would we recommend it or return?.... no. Maybe it's not our style or maybe it's too European for our Canadian ways.

We had a nice stay, but were in a rush when we were leaving and forgot an expensive item behind in our room. We realized as soon as we drove away but didn't have time to go back and get it, so we called reception and asked them to give it to my in-laws who were still there for another night (in the room next door). The staff said they would do so but did not. When my in-laws checked out, they asked if the item had been found. They were told to wait while staff checked but nobody ever came back to confirm if the item been found. They finally left without it after waiting nearly an hour. I have called and emailed Sparkling Hill several times since, each time they said they would pass the message on to house keeping for them to look and get back to us. A month and a half later and we still haven't received any word back... super disappointed. You'd think a place as nice as this would have some sort of policy or system in place for returning lost items.
