Reviews for Sparkling Hill Resort

It needs to revamp the rooms, the 2000s feel, menu! And for God Sake, allow kids, it's not a swingers' resort, the no kids polic

Location - great. Rooms - dated, great for early 2000s, but it's been 20 years since then. TV might soon become a museum early LCD item. Clean enough, 8-9/10. Staff - hit and miss, seemed a little stressed, generally nice. Food - save your money, glorified yogurts, tasteless dishes, like you almost feel ashamed to pretend you're impressed, but... seriously, send some of your chefs incognito to Lake Louise for God's sake. Spas - nothing ground-breaking.

Calgary zoo one of the best

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Hi Calgary zoo always one of the best zoos to go see and never stops with the little side action from the animals playing around. Great place to visit the polar bears are get and very entertaining to watch both of them. Crazy that the larges one is over 1100 pounds and the smallest one is over 900 pounds. The resent Reno’s in the zoo are very good. Highly recommended to go

Sparkling Hill does not disappoint. Another fantastic getaway! Excellent breakfast, relaxing sauna’s and steam rooms. Love the view from the infinity pool. Awesome soaker tubs in the room and comfortable beds. Great walking trails and gorgeous views.

Very disappointed you lost a very good customer

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Sadly I’m writing this review in hopes that CHANGES will happen!!! First this Was my 18 time to the resort as I use to love going here sadly it will probably be my last I had booked three nights with a girlfriend who it was her first time and definitely her last she said.our first night was beautiful besides that that two of the spas had no working hand held showers to rinse off your seat which is very unsanitary so I chose to use other spas The next day woke up to no shower caps in your room so I had to go to the front desk and ask for two not a big deal then there toilet paper use to be nice they have replaced it with very rough inexpensive paper. The Day before our stay I was contacted via email about my up coming stay and if I needed anything I called and asked for a kettle for in my room as when you stay three nights I like to be able at night to have a cup of tea in the past no problem to do that now I was told I would have to order room service or buy my tea from the Little restaurant so I brought my own kettle from home only to find out when I got there that they still had kettles if asked for them so they need inform there staff better I was upset about this but again it’s really just a small minor thing Then the fridge in our room froze our champagne and all our food and it actually exploded making a huge mess they cleaned the room and replaced our champagne and gave us charcuterie wich was fair as it was there fridge that was not working Next they rented 80 rooms to a group that was there on a conference for two nights that night the pools were full of these guests who were drinking shouting being rude it did not stop there they kept us up till 3 am that night this is a Wellness Spa not a party place I woke up to go to swim my morning laps to a dirty pool and puke 🤮 in the hall way that one of the groups partier were cleaning up we went and complained they promised it would not happen a second night at 1002 pm I was awaken by them again i jumped out of bed and went and dealt with them my self as there was no staff around to help out and no one answered the front desk so we decided that we would see if we could extend our stay for forth night as we wanted to enjoy a night so they gave us a discount on the room only to have the pool have no heat we would have never extended our stay if we had known that and when we went to complain it was like they did not know but yet there was a rooter rooter truck there since morning and returned the next day also they have updated the sitting chair in the room but NOT the beds so mine was ok but my girlfriends bed had a huge gaping whole in it she was very uncomfortable but they were sold out of room so we could not change rooms The dining was amazing and our favourite server Jesica was there every morning to take care of us we also booked my favourite salt scrub that I get every time I go there but it had gone up from $95 to $129 for a 45 min service and really it’s less then that as you are showering for about 10 minutes Even thoe I love it’s not worth the value of 129 save your money At check out we did have a meeting with the General manager she was very nice and listen to our experience she ended up giving us the fourth night free of charge which I think was ok but I feel that people need to know about this as Sparkling Hills you need to do Better Also we ate one night at the German restaurant wich use to be highlight of my stay only get reheated day old German pasta !!! And no check back till I was almost done my meal and for the server to confirm that was made fresh in the morning but reheated at night I’m Dutch and German and you do not reheat it ever it needs to be served fresh !!! Any ways I hope you can improve as I am very sad that I won’t be coming back anytime soon It would take you to contact me and offer me a complimentary night once you have fixed the above issue I wait to see if I here from you and if not I will be spending my money else where

Resort with excellent location lacking luxury and service. Historically awesome but in need of overhaul and reset

3/10 Sparkling hill positions itself as a luxury destination and as such carries the expectation of a certain level of amenities, comfort and service. Having stayed several times with them, the levels have distinctly and drastically slipped. The positives: the view from the king lakeview suite is stunning. The breakfast was quite tasty and had ample options. Dinner main course tasted very good but a 5 oz steak for my husband was not nearly enough food and options were very limited. We ate in town one night as options were not enticing. The negatives: our reservation was mishandled and we received no email confirmation from the hotel. I had to track this down to be able to make on site reservations. We were not offered "package amenities" like wine or desserts until our check out email. The biggest concern however was the room comfort and look: the bed was AWFUL - major ridges and hollows in the really soft old mattress. It was so uncomfortable and despite listing a firm and soft pillow, there were only soft ones available. It was weird that there was no top sheet - just a duvet. It felt "wrong and certainly not luxurious. The furniture was faded with misshapen flat cushions and stains. The carpet looked worn and dirty. The room needs a major refresh including paint and woodwork update. The toilet paper is single ply dollar store level thin and scratchy - not luxury. A major peeve is that there is no coffee in the room. You have to trek from the far end of the hotel to the restaurant for your small take away paper cup of coffee. Again, when we speak of luxury and views and wellness, a serve yourself option in the restaurant or lobby rings of a holiday inn not crystal clad high end resort. The overuse of single use paper cups throughout the resort is shocking. The spa is as expected (enjoyable rooms) and what we came for but ruined by LOUD guests talking and carrying on full exuberant conversations in the rooms and common areas, screaming at the cold shower endlessly, and generally treating the space as a workout facility. There were no staff to remind people of the expectations of quiet. We booked a cryo treatment and were not given instructions to be 100% dry. Luckily I followed up and had enough time to race to our room to blow dry and change. Again, a miss in service and experience. We ate breakfasts an dinner in the hotel with reservation and had ONE meal on the window. While I understand limited space and timing, it was still disappointing. Overall there were more misses than pluses this trip and the pluses are mostly location based. There is opportunity to truly offer luxury experiences by improving staff training and availability (reservations, spa attendant and booking) and resort upkeep (mattresses, aesthetics, comfort and coffee makers in room) We also stayed at the Eldorado this trip and they truly set the bar for luxury and service. Perhaps sparkling hill management could take a road trip to experience a very high and perfect execution in service and amenities.

I enjoyed a marvelous mother/daughter weekend with my mom at Sparkling Hill last March and am so excited to return for the July long weekend with my mother-in-law. Sparkling Hill is absolutely the best place in BC for a serene get-together! I hope to treat my sister to this experience soon, too. Thank you Sparkling Hill for bringing such a magical place within our reach!

Just spent 3 nights at "Sparkle Mountain" as we coined it. It was the most amazing experience, and we will return. Thanks for such a great experience.
