Sparkling Hill is an amazing place to stay. My recent visit has definitely soured my opinion and will give me pause, should I consider staying there again. As I was checking in for my first of 5 evenings, I was informed that my credit card would not authorize the transaction. This caught me completely off guard as I knew what my limit was and what purchases I'd already made. I then was told that Sparkling Hill places a hold for the room fees plus a $200 per day for incidentals. This was not mentioned on my reservation emails or anywhere else. I purposely keep my credit card limits low and would have taken steps to allow for the additional $1000 if I had known. The breakfast buffet was very good, which is consistent with my previous visit. Room Service now adds a $10 delivery charge, on top of the 15% gratuity charge. Even if it were free, the Beef Dip was ghastly. The valet service was fairly good except for the 30 minute wait, which was supposed to be 10 minutes. You must be very attentive to the opening and closing of the sliding glass door. If it's not perfect, you will hear and feel the wind whistling through. I also had to return to the front desk to get my key card reprogrammed. They knew that I was staying for 5 nights but my card was programmed for 4. Sparkling Hill management needs to spend some time at The Grand Californian in Anaheim to see how customer service is really done. Nobody does service better than Disney. I really hate for this review to be negative, to any degree. I have bragged about Sparkling Hill since my first stay there. My recent stay has definitely altered my opinion. But, I am not without hope!

Have been going to Sparkling Hill since it opened in 2010, sometimes more than once a year. It never disappoints as a calming, healthy and spectacular get-away in any season. Treated a relative for their special birthday this time. Jaw dropping vistas, outdoor infinity pool, whirlpool and serenity room were highlights. All the rooms are well appointed and the buffet breakfast is grand. Extremely comfy beds. There are wonderful hiking trails in area.

Pricey. But very relaxing. We got a room on the bottom floor, next time I would definitely want a room on the 2nd or 3 Rd floor so we didn't have the rocks to limit our view. Our Couples Escape Package included a 3 course dinner each evening. My husband enjoyed it, I am a "simpler" eater so the fancy stuff wasn't really my thing. The staff said it was at full occupancy but we felt it was pretty quiet which was nice. The first night we didn't know you had to reserve a dinner time so we didn't get to eat til 8:30. Steam & sauna rooms are very nice.

Spent the weekend and enjoyed the infinity pool will cool weather which was wonderful as was the pool temperature. Thoroughly enjoyed the saunas and the heightened senses your body experiences during each unique smell, temperature and sound. The circulation pool and hot tub were also great. The lake views from your room really can’t be beat and you can take it all in while enjoying the bath. Rooms are clean and comfortable with no complaints. Only negative thing was that a reservation was recommended for dinner which we didn’t have so had to wait until 9 and the restaurant was maybe half full and it was just the two of us, but in their defence maybe it was a bit understaffed or another function happening. Nonetheless the restaurant was pretty good just slightly under seasoned which maybe my preference. I would certainly go back.

We visited last weekend and felt nauseated most of the time due to the hallways smelled so heavily of food...Turkey and rosemary to be specific. But first thing in morning to late night for 48 hours was too much. Slept with window open to air the room. Check in was ok.., as sent to a small coffee area with limited seating to wait with everyone else for the 4:00 check in time. Did not have to wait too long tho. While waiting we walked around and noticed the carpets were so dirty in conference area, lobby, dining room. Was a real turn off to see that. Our room carpet was somewhat soiled. I guess we expected clean and pristine thru out and looking for spa fragrances of natural fragrances and sea. Only in the spa floor was that wonderful smell to be found... The outdoor pool had very few people in it, as too cold. We found if you stood by a water inlet of warm water it was tolerable. Inside pool had no one using, as too cold. Hot tub was nice. Atmosphere of pool area is nothing special and quite barren to see dirt and no landscaping outside of hot tub area. But views of hills were wonderful from all around the resort. No extra towel and robe stations, so in a wet robe most of day unless requested to bring to room. Would have been so nice to trade out a towel in the pool area. Tea room was so nice and relaxing, even in a wet robe. Sauna area was not impressive. Water all thru the walking areas, only 3 saunas working, and that was off and on. Many people speaking of disappointment. Just not up to the hype of magnificence as website. Dining was pleasurable with beautiful pianist playing. Did not order wine..far too expensive. Sadly, as that is wine country! Starting at $17/small glass was extreme. But then, this is a luxury resort. I think?..
