We travelled to Sparkling Hill in March 2017 to get some R and R in. We are definitely the relaxing types who measure the success of our vacations in how little we accomplish. The less accomplished, the better. We visited this resort using their 5 day whole body wellness package which included food and spa services. The resort has absolutely stunning views and we were spoiled with a couple of days of ‘perfect’ snowy days, where the flakes are giant and fall super slowly. Great to watch this happen from the heated infinity pool or from the room. This is definitely a pampering-style resort however I find it struggles a bit with its identity in a couple of ways. The spa services were excellent and yet the little things like struggling to find somewhere to sit in the many steam/sauna rooms were sometimes frustrating. The limited times to be able to access the steams/saunas is understandable, however can be the little bit of unnecessary frustration in an otherwise peaceful day. Many reviewers comment on the bathrobes at breakfast. Add my frustration to the list. I would concede if breakfast was a-la-carte, however with buffet style breakfast, people serving themselves in their bathrobes amongst hundreds of other people in their bathrobes was off-putting. I would never expect to go to a luxury resort and show up at a restaurant in my bathrobe
ever
even for breakfast. But then the resort redeems itself at dinner with fantastic food and great ambiance. Patrons had no problem dressing up fancy for dinner, yet breakfast was the polar opposite. The room was beautiful with spectacular lake views. I acknowledge the reviews that location of the room is important. A poorly located room where patrons could see into your room would impact the rating of the room for sure. There are nooks and crannies to this resort which are fun to explore and I would recommend that anyone try this place at least once! For the price and luxury label, I would have expected fewer frustrations, so cannot provide a 5 star rating, however the overall experience and uniqueness of this resort make it a strong four.

This is clearly a resort for relaxation, rejuvenation and self nourishment. If you are looking to be entertained this is not the place for you. We recently spent three nights there and it was just idyllic after the Christmas break. The waters are blissful and restorative. Especially the outdoor infinity pool in the evening with the stars shining or the fresh snow falling. The Kniepp walkway was energizing. With these pools open from 9 AM till 10 PM there is always something to do. We all tried the “whole body cryotherapy” and it was exhilarating. The walking paths surrounding the resort very much put you in touch with nature and add to the sensuous experience. This is a complete mindfulness destination/experience. The food was consistently delicious. The final evening I had the oven roasted chicken carbonara on the chef’s recommendation ... it was truly exquisite. The piano playing background music was the only “entertainment” we encountered in our three day stay and it provided a lovely touch. The staff is consistently pleasant and accommodating.

Check in around 4 busy and a line up. Which is understandable as we all want to check in early to be able to enjoy the one night stay to the fullest. Three check in counters and all were open so they were prepared. Our check in was efficient and took only minutes. Room was clean and spacious. The view magnificent. Thoughtful that the music was playing and lights were on when we entered the room. A guest info sheet was provided and a tablet with info as well. Met a housekeeper and she was friendly and provided me with the info I needed, all with a gorgeous smile. Peak fine restaurant: our dinner was a fine dining experience like no other and Chris our server was a pro. Breakfast:so many choices and every single menu item was presented in a very attractive and appealing way. Our server (sorry forgot his name but he moved over from Mexico City 9 months ago) was friendly and professional. Sauna sand steam showers clean but too close to each other. Cooling down part was disappointing as we are used to European saunas. There were showers and a cold room with crushed ice. Would have loved to have other options for cooling down for example be able to go outside, ice cold bath or a bucket shower with cold water. Overall a relaxing and very enjoyable stay. I would recommend your hotel in a heartbeat to friends and family. Thank you for a memorable getaway.

We stayed here on a short break nice place, fantastic location with amazing views, room was nice apart from the mould in the shower and scuff marks in the bath, food was good apart from the porridge which I suspect was reheated from the day before, overcooked . Spa facilities were excellent ! I would return !
